I’d very much doubt it and Henderson has said he will be important in the second half of the season.

Could be useful in the couple of CC games in August when you'd expect pitches to be hard but in the final 4 games in September, it's hard to see a left arm spinner being more effective than a good pace bowler.

Think we needed to go into tomorrow with Cox and Green still in to stand half a chance of grinding out a draw.

Yeah. Good rearguard effort but we always seem to lose wickets at key points eg Green getting out 2 overs from the end. Will be pretty much a miracle if we don't lose the game from here.

Seems the pitch isn't playing that badly, so unless conditions change dramatically, I can't see anything other than a comfortable Essex win. I don't think a lead of 200 would be enough. You just can't get bowled out for less than 200 in Division 1 where the pitch is good enough for them to score 400 odd and even our second innings gets to over 300.

Gumbs looks like he's got something about him. Great temperament. And although he didn't tear it up, Rehan was looking decent so it's frustrating that he wasn't able to stay and play more 4 day cricket to make him a clearer choice for this test in place of Stokes, by getting some runs.

Excellent fighting spirit, which has been there in the last few Blast games to get us some wins, but we are just not good enough in div 1. Jordan Cox has been the difference in this game, and in other games one disastrous collapse or spell has cost us. We are just short of enough quality with bat or ball but need to keep fighting and try and get some success in the one day game and bounce back again next year.

Think the club should probably just accept the relegation and try and get another white ball trophy in the cabinet.

How are they going to be knackered? We were bowled out in 60 overs, with over 20 overs of spin used. And they will have a nice rest tonight and know that unless we score 400 plus ( incredibly unlikely) they have won the game.

Commentators just having a long discussion about how tired the Essex bowlers looked yesterday fyi!

This is why you don't see too many sides enforce the follow on anymore, particularly in test cricket. Essex have now been out there for 200 overs straight.

Would be an amazing draw if they escape with one. Need to scramble up to 250 lead at least.

Just about hanging on. Davey with a good cameo.

Psychologically a lead of 200-220+ will be handy and then creep up as much as poss just after lunch...
