Fantastic turn out from Leicestershire up

there.

Yep bit rich though chanting about Middlesex lack of support when we get the lowest crowds in the Country at Championship matches by some distance.

I think one issue is the crossover between those who go to LCFC games and LCCC means you will struggle to get that kind of support with any regularity. Would have been interesting to see how many were there today if it had clashed with an LCFC fixture.

I think the t20 happens in pre season for the football.

Besides, crossover on Saturday could be a good thing- get people into the ground and buying food and drinks at a championship match for 3 hours before heading off to the football. It's basically around the corner.

Interesting challenge for the club to try and get these 3/4 thousand passionate fans who are preperared to spend money on ticket and travel to Nottingham and booze for the day for a one day cup final, but don't seem to be coming to grace road with any regularity.

Forget the South Asian community or students this must be the biggest open goal in terms of growth for the club! Not sure how you capitalise on it though? Maybe a white ball pass for 100 quid if you can prove you were at Trent Bridge today? Sacrifice a bit of short term cash for long term growth?

Cheaper beer prices than everywhere else would probably do the trick, if you just want to get people in the ground, but then you lose one of your profit streams.

Anybody else horribly sunburnt?

Frostbite was more of an issue for me until about 5 p.m. (on row Z of the Acrisure stand) but then a bit of sun finally struggled in even up there.

A different story if you weren't under cover, I guess.

Our fanbase is so closely aligned to football when compared to other counties

We're unique in there being no real conflict- we have a single big football club within the county borders and nothing else remotely close to the football league.

The only other comparable counties in that sense would be Northants and Sussex, but the football clubs are much smaller & fanbases (I'd imagine) less tribal, with many in those areas supporting the 'big 6'.

It’s a really difficult dilemma regarding Fons and Claude, yes things have improved on the field however this season has shown them to be very chaotic.
The T20 campaign was abysmal, there was just no plan whatsoever, recruitment questionable as a decent quick overseas bowler may have kept us up and we are going to be relegated from Division One due to their interference in pitch matters and a Groundsman who doesn’t feel comfortable talking to them as they are quite difficult characters. Fons in particular seems to be an awkward customer and falls out with people when things aren’t going his way.
Reaching the One Day final was an achievement but I would have expected us to be there or thereabouts anyway, throwing the game away how we did was shocking though.

Just got back to Herts after spending two cracking nights with the missus & bro in Nottingham. Gutted by the result but still a great game.....well at least everything until about our 38th over. Were the umpires under strict instructions from the ECB to raise a finger in retaliation against the chanting, it sometimes felt like it? Hope a few spotted the banana in the Fox Rd (Acrisure). Well done to the stewards....... the morning bag search was wonderfully relaxed 😁🍷

Having been at the game yesterday, I just want to say how magnificent our support was and it’s a real shame the team weren’t able to get the win the supporters deserved. Once again our top order failed to deliver. Eskinazi isn’t an opener and we have badly missed Budinger in this competition. Very poor shots from Patel, Holland and Green contributed to the loss. We were always keeping pace with the scoring rate and with 13 overs to go, only needed 57 to win. It needed some intelligent batting and just getting ones and twos rather than some of the rash decision making by some of the batsmen which would have seen us home. Just one other player getting 30 odd would have been enough.

Ahmed probably should have reviewed his wicket but having lost Shaikh’s appeal maybe they thought it was too early in the innings to potentially lose another appeal. Some of the umpiring was very poor and the original lbw decision against Holland, which we won on appeal, was shocking as it wasn’t even close to being out.

I’ll be pleased to see the back of this season as it hasn’t gone how we would have all wanted

Saw the banana. Would have come and said hello if I'd have known!

Whose was the taxidermy fox?

Definitely featured in a lot of photos....

Incredible following of old school lads there - more than Barnsley away....

If we'd reached the One Day Cup final in the manner that Middx did (7 wins in the group stage), that might have strengthened the case for AT/CH, but we limped over the line after some turgid performances. As you say, the T20 was an utter disgrace.

Another black mark for me is their choices of captain in some cases. Kimber and Green for the T20 didn't work, and Eskinazi would have been out of the One Day Cup side some time ago had he not been captain. Ben Cox, to me, is captain material; one or two interviews (e.g. after the home 4-day defeat v Sussex) suggest that he doesn't suffer fools gladly. Perhaps AT/CH aren't comfortable dealing with that strength of character.

I think the Cox situation (plus others who are/seem to be leaving) is pivotal. We don't know the scale of fallouts between the coaches and squad; for example, I think it's the right moment for Rishi Patel to leave because he's not really kicked on (several others have also stagnated in terms of development), but I'd like to know more about why. I think it was Bert who said he chatted with RP, and he didn't seem that keen on leaving. The squad is not that big, and if AT/CH can't maintain a minimum of harmony, that's a fail in any manager's annual performance review.

The other question is who else might be available to replace them...?

Good post. I would keep them myself I think the good outweighs the bad especially when you look at the position we were in when they took over. However keeping them is not without its drawbacks many of which you rightly point out
