Sakande is listed as right arm medium pace so assuming he's more about movement than pace.

Sakande is a pretty big guy I saw him play at Sussex. Not that quick but maybe gets a bit of bounce?

So no major change to the bowling options tomorrow. 🤔 I would say that's an odd one. Most we will do is play Evans instead of Klein, Griffiths or Wright? 

 

Only change to squad is Harris for Sam Evans, he can't play due to concussion. 

 

Davies and Barnes out already and not sure what's happened to our other spinner Bowley not even playing 2s. Perhaps studying? 

 

I suggest we look at a loan or give Modhwadia a go from the 2s, took 3 wickets. 

 

Give Sakande a month's contract?

A shame about Sam Evans but best to be cautious with head knocks. Harris is some replacement and it saves Nixon the headache of who to leave out as our batting has been decent.

 

The bowling is the same unit who have looked ineffective so far but who else is there?

 

We have four additional batters on the books in Rhodes, Patel, Welch and Steele who can't get in the side ahead of our second choice keeper. (Though Hill has proven himself a very good specialist bat so far, the point does still stand, these guys were signed to bat).

 

Steele will come into the t20 side but could some of the budget allocated to the other three have been used to acquire a pace bowler with something a bit different? With 2 overseas players allowed I'm sure we could have found one somewhere.

 

Lilley and Ingram will also bolster the t20 batting so can't see any of the three featuring in the Blast either.

 

Surely any one of the three in addition to Bates and Steele would have been adequate backup given that's the role they're all filling currently.

As you say seem top heavy with batting. Harris be brilliant but didn't replace the allrounder we lost. 

 

We could get another overseas bowler.

Doesn't seem like very good recruitment planning. As you point out they will have enough batters for two line-ups come the Blast. Doubt they will spend on a second overseas player, as priority is surely the white ball competitions. Best hope is either a loan to cover injuries or a trialist like Sakande being offered a deal after impressing. From the Notts video clips he does look very tall if not particularly quick, so could get some bounce from leaden pitches. We don't have a bowler that tall, some would add variety. But it just makes the signing of Rhodes even more of a head-scratcher - 3 year deal to languish in the seconds.

Yes. Think that's his best suit. Certainly not his batting. 

 

I saw a few balls from Modhwadia he looked good. Three wickets

Yeh I meant Alex Evans. Richard Rae speculating that they are giving the bowlers benefit of the doubt as nobody would have done any better on the road at the Oval.

 

Harris looks good. Great conditions for him to start.

The Dearden LBW was a very dodgy call by the umpire. Thought he was a bit unlucky.
