Bat tomorrow like its day one. Just bat time. We have to get enough to ensure we don't lose the game.

The track looks like an absolute road but no harm in then letting the bowlers steam in

Leicester lad. City fan. Maiden County ton today at one of the finest cricket grounds in the world. A pretty decent day for Sam!

Shame no one was there to see it in person but thanks to streaming more County fans would have seen it live than could have anyway!

Hats off to him. It was an off and on day with rain and bad light plus Kemar Roach to deal with.

Great effort. Let's hope they push on for a couple of sessions. Weather forecast looks better for days 3 and 4.

Presents a bit of a batting selection problem for the next game when Harris comes in, if Hill builds on this start and Swindells gets a few. The squad looking a bit batting heavy and bowling light.

Surely the only option is to drop Dearden and bat one of them at three?

Probably yes, though he got 60 and 40 odd in the last game. You can't really drop Hill and would seem a backward step to drop your talented young keeper, therefore apart from Dearden the only option is to revert to four bowlers + Ackermann. We are really missing a batsman who can turn his arm over for 10 overs of medium pace a day, a Steven Mullaney/Daryl Mitchell type.

That's why I think we should go in for Kyle Mayers if he's available for part of the season.

Standard collapse happening now. Need 400 minimum here.

You’d still like to think that at worst this game ends as a draw. For Surrey to take a commanding lead will mean them batting until tomorrow night at least.

If even two of their top five get in against our bowlers then I'm not sure they'll even need that long. Hope I'm wrong though as we deserve something out of this for the composure we showed yesterday against a much better attack than we're used to facing.

This attack went for more than five an over in overcast conditions at Grace Road last week - never mind on a road at The Oval.

Edit - Two overs in and going at a run a ball.

Surrey 93/3 at tea, trailing by 282.

Burns, Stoneman and Hamla all back in the hutch.

Decent response by Leics.

160 runs later not so good damn you Geoff, just why

A real shame we couldn't hold on for 400. Credit to Evans and Hill for holding on as long as they did but it feels like our batting lineup is a batsman short. I hope Harris comes in for someone in the bottom 5, Mike is handy with the bat but not quite a genuine all rounder yet and the tail is too long currently.

Harris

Azad

Evans

Ackermann

Dearden

Hill

Swindells

4 bowlers

Looks more balanced though if Parkinson plays then it's a heavy workload on three seamers. Whether we have 4 or 5 bowlers might not matter with how toothless we look currently anyway.
