Only the top 3 in the group qualify for the knockout stage. See the following excerpt from the ECB website:

The format for the knockout stages are:

Quarter-finals – 14 August (hosted by second-placed counties)

Group A Second-placed county v Group B Third-placed county

Group B Second-placed county v Group A Third-placed county

Semi-finals – 17 August (hosted by group winners)

Group A winner v Quarter-final winner

Group B winner v Quarter-final winner

The winners of the semi-final progress to the Royal London Cup final at Trent Bridge on 19 August.

Such pathetic scheduling. The ECB haven't even tried to hide the fact they want no-one turning up to these.

Unchanged team. Won the toss and decided to bat.

Lilley had to take some responsibility to go and play a big innings there but as usual in one day cricket he never does. The odd quick 30/40 really isn’t enough if you bat 3. Well set and just throws it away like he so often does.

That’s his A List career best, 46!

Exactly. Embarrassing that for one our frontline batsman and somehow Rhodes continuously makes him look a world beater.

Lilley is a very good t20 pinch hitter but his game and temperament seems poorly suited to even the 50 over game. Really this iteration of the one day cup was a chance for him to rack up the runs.

Baffled by the continued omission of Steel, he must have ruffled someone's feathers. Would also like to have seen Welch play as he looked a powerful and composed batter on limited evidence last season.

Rhodes isn't a bad cricketer in any respect whether that's batting, bowling or fielding but in the former two departments he isn't particularly good either. I have no idea what his role in the side is supposed to be.

Edit: Ignore the Welch point, I've just remembered the injury.

He's beaten his List A best twice this season (yeah 41 and 46 but still) and got 99* in the T20 plus a few decent bowling displays.

Is he becoming the new Ayoze on FT? lol

Welch got injured of course, so is out of action

Not particularly, just think that he’s batting at 3 and was well set but didn’t value his wicket and played like the pinch hitter that he is.

He could and probably should quite easily if he used his head have gone on to get a big score today which is what was needed.

Points taken but it feels like he's singled out.

Very impressive innings by Kimber again. Just looks a really assured player and took a very good ball to get him out.

Ahmed played really well there as well to bat the overs.

whether it’s enough we don’t know but something to bowl at.

Ahmed is going to have a massive future, hopefully it’s with us!

Sakande is better with the bat and ball over Griffiths, why haven’t we seen anything of him recently?

Let's hope GG isn't as expensive as he usually is.
