filbertway Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I haven't seen the goals from yesterday, but how can people be saying he should have saved a penalty? I thought that.. but then I saw the pen, He guessed the right way, loooks like he should have saved it to me. And he was too busy trying to be Barthez for the second goal trying to claim offside instead of saving it.
Anish Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I haven't seen the goals from yesterday, but how can people be saying he should have saved a penalty? Because it was a poorly struck penalty which was the right height for a keeper (and not even in the corner), and Alnwick dived the right way and dived over it. You'd understand if you saw the goals.
teblin Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 I haven't seen the goals from yesterday, but how can people be saying he should have saved a penalty? Because it went through him like the plymouth goal did.
MikeyT Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 ban alnwick is shite No he's not shite at all, but i also dont think he's as good as everyone originally thought!
C-man Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 I'm still unconvinced. The goals on saturday prove this.
The People's Hero Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 Looks like he was at fault for both of the goals tbh.
Master Fox Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 He's been awful. Blunder after blunder. Is Hendo or Conrad still here? I know they're no great option, but sometimes it's better to give a blundering keeper a few games off.

Henderson would have saved that penalty with his left hand and then went on to score with a goal kick. These simple things that Alnwick can't do.

V Funny. Henderson is shit. Although I ignored this topic until seeing Saturdays goals about 30 minutes ago, very poor goalkeeping for the second.
Jimmy Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I'd rather play a good keeper that's making mistakes in Alnwick then a shit keeper that's out of his depth in Henderson
lildave3 Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I'd rather play a good keeper that's making mistakes in Alnwick then a shit keeper that's out of his depth in Henderson Good god. I almost completely agree with you.
Jimmy Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Good god. I almost completely agree with you. which part of the sentence don't you agree with?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 February 2008 Author Posted 27 February 2008 This thread proves my point really. He's replaced Henderson, not Fulop. You can say he could have saved the penalty (very harsh IMO) or the second goal on Saturday but it remains that he has played more games than the number of goals he's conceded. I honestly don't think Fulop would have done any better on average out of the games Alnwick has played.

I think Fulop would have probably saved Plymouths goal and definately 1 of the goals at cov. I can't speak for any others. He just doesn't seem very good at positioning himself for shots comin in at tightish angles.

He just doesn't seem very good at positioning himself for shots comin in at tightish angles. So we'd possibly have got a point against Plymouth and lost 1-0 at Cov? I think people are splitting hairs for the sake of it. He's been good so far. We were spoilt by Fulop. There's no guarantee that he would have saved all the shots that Alnwick did at Norwich either.
James. Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 I miss Fulop. But I'm happy with Alnwick. We really don't have much to complain about as far as he goes. It's the whole putting the ball in the net away from home and not being total wankers that needs working on.

I reckon Fulop wouldn't have made such a hash at Watford either. So we would arguably have drawn at Watford and at home to Plymouth, plus only been 1 down at Cov - which gives us an extra 2 points at least. I know our major trouble is scoring goals, especially away, but when you see shots go in which should be saved then you have to start questioning the keeper. Our defence has been reasonably solid but when they fail you'd hope that the keeper would save shots which a competent keeper would ordinarily do. I know we've had years of sh it keepers since Walker left, but I don't think Alnwick is as good as some people make out...not yet anyway.
RowlattsFox Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Fulop also made mistakes, i can think of two goal that we conceded with him that he should have saved, against Colchester and Charlton, which cost us 4 points.
Monk Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Fulop also made mistakes, i can think of two goal that we conceded with him that he should have saved, against Colchester and Charlton, which cost us 4 points. That charlton game was a whole lot more than Fulop's fault. We were awful that day.
RowlattsFox Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 That charlton game was a whole lot more than Fulop's fault. We were awful that day. I was talking about the home game, when McCarthy scored the last minute equalise which was Fulops fault.
