This probably warrants a place in this thread, so much more could have been done with that money if he just wanted to do something with it because it was burning a hole.

Also the art world collective can take honorary membership of the thread too in allowing this type of shite to be classed as art & no I will not take the word ‘subjective’ for 2 empty beer cans side by side or this nonsense as an argument.

The high level art world is at least mostly, if not all, a front for criminal money laundering.

That's pretty much it imo.

You have to say the government could really unify the country by making a proper showing of these two.

Who could’ve possibly foreseen a  Home Counties Tory exploiting her geriatric father for personal gain?

Imagine being so fvcking thick to think you could get away with this. Pure entitlement.

Honestly I’m thankful for my escalating lockdown drinking problem because I was buying whisky instead of paying for these pr**ks home spa.

Make ‘em both a social pariah.

On the scale of ACOOT it's not a huge one, but it is part of an endemic disregard for our countryside:

This is what happens when council fail in their duty to provide proper waste and recycling services to residents.  Resident act like arseholes.

It doesn't appear they did anything illegal? To play devils advocate it sounds like she applied for the CEO role and negotiated a salary, agreed to publish three books in a private capacity using her family name, got paid for a personal appearance at an award ceremonty and tried to leverage the family name to avoid a planning dispute?  If the publishers failed to put in the contract that some of the proceeds where to go to the charity they were incompetent in not doing so.  Trustees did not have to appoint her as CEO, and if they felt that was the wrong thing to do they should have taken it to the charity commission at the time. Storm in an admittedly slightly unpleasant teacup.

Wouldn't expect you to pipe up to defend a pair of amoral grifters. lol

It isn't illegal, therefore it must be just.

"Negotiated a salary." She attempted to pay herself £150k per year (double the normal pay for a CEO in a charity’s first year) but the Charities Commission stepped in to block it this given that this was over 13% of the charity's total income for their first accounting period. This doesn't stink at all.

They applied for planning permission via the charity (without telling the trustees BTW) for something called "The Captain Tom Foundation Building". You'd think perhaps it would be somewhere to host charity events or workshops for the vulnerable? Nah, Captain Tom LOVED spas. There's nothing he would've wanted more than his family to enjoy their daily swim in their Captain Tom branded beachwear range.

"Leverage the family name" is a very kind way of saying "flagrantly using a charitable cause to cash in commercial and personal ventures with a very thin veneer of philanthropy"

Illegal? No. Immoral and incompetent. Absolutely. Expecting one of these two to turn up as my local Tory candidate.

Let's all raise a glass of Captain Tom's Gin to the old man who wasn't the only one led down the garden path. He must be spinning in his grave, and they're probably looking for a way to monetise it.

Oh it definitely immoral, but this thread is full of serious criminals and exploitation.   These people have been vilified in the press which is sufficient, I think.  And they had to knock down their ugly spa thing which is very funny.

Barbaric is about right - it's unchecked individualism and social Darwinist thought taken to its logical outcome.

Lol you sound exactly like David from compliance in this post. Rule book over face-smackingly obvious reality in that part of the office.

Yeh it is mad. When I worked in the US they used to play 'guess how much this medical service costs' with me all the time. Crazy prices.

Not barbaric to them though, the country is a big business and that's how they like it.
