Thracian Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Setanta Bit surprised he couldn't get a plane from Bourgas, Varna or even a connectiving flight from nearby Plovdiv if he's been based in Borovets. Perhaps he's not into tourist class! Can't imagine there'd be any fun in driving from Bulgaria. Take him til the season starts to recover!
Ozwin Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Haha, amazing, it's like a race against time for him to arrive at Leicester. Can you imagine it? PAOK Thessaloniki representatives chasing him in their own cars trying to stop him leaving and waving contract offers out of the windows. Come on Tunchev, you can do it!

Perhaps the trip to Slovenia is really a belated rescue effort!

Haha they would probably try that one you know, and guess who is the chairman of PAOK??? Our very own Zagorakis, he is probably trying to persuade him by saying how shite the English weather is.

dandannieldanok Posted 4 July 2008 Author Posted 4 July 2008 Is he here yet? It would appear he's in the country at least: by Bill AndersonFlight delays yesterday prevented Bulgarian international Aleksander Tunchev from opening talks with Leicester City. But the club were hopeful the £800,000 deal for the CSKA Sofia defender can be completed today. Until everything is signed and sealed, the club are making no comment, but there is excitement at the prospect of the 26-year-old seasoned centre-back being added to the squad as new manager Nigel Pearson's fourth signing, with still the possibility of more to come. Tunchev is expected here for medical formalities and personal terms to be completed before training with his new team-mates next week.
Guest Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 This is the most bizarre transfer news I've heard in 17 years as a City fan. Why would he...? Why would they...? How would we...? ??? But yet it still seems to be happening!! I just have this vague fear that he'll find the 3rd tier of English football a very different proposition to the level at which he's played before and might struggle not just with English football but with the high paced long ball tactics and muddied pitches of our opponents this season. Hope I'm wrong.

Ozwin Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Last I checked Bulgaria wasn't the nicest place in the world to play football either.
Guest Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Last I checked Bulgaria wasn't the nicest place in the world to play football either. True it's not world beatin g football but my guess is they still have solid baked pitches and probably play that slow languid football loved over the whole of continental Europe. nothing like the hoofball he'll be chucked into next season by the looks of it...
