CosbehFox Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 [/b]Not looking so good now imo! Been a fair few fays. N'guessan deal can't be confirmed until his contract at Lincoln has expired anyway until the two clubs agree a price. Very rarely do deals get revealed in May. Mid-June when clubs want to boost season ticket sales etc.
morris1234 Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 generally, tribunals offer piss poor prices for players. so it is in lincolns best interest to say other clubs are lurking aswell to try and push us towards making a quick offer to get it out of the way, fortunately we are not exactly in a position where we have to count the pennies so its whether we want the deal done soon or not. lincoln are trying to be clever and yes it does work but either way if dany wants in then it will be done.

I'm sure 500k for Gareth Williams would have delighted Forest And fair enough that deals rarely happen in May but I still don't think it will happen now, I'm generally behind Milan but he really should not have opened his big fooking mouth on this one!
Lillehamring Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/8055360.stm interesting that he references Jack Hobbs, can't imagine that would mean anything to anybody but us - so if it's a hint, it looks likely it's sent in our direction...
Jimmy Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 "As an attacking player you could value Dany higher than Jack Hobbs who recently moved to Leicester, there is no doubt that, at just 21, Dany is a very valuable player." does he seriously think we'll offer anything like what we paid for Hobbs, we'd just agree terms with N'Guessan and let the tribunal decide it like we did with Nicky Adams
Jay Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 interesting that he references Jack Hobbs, can't imagine that would mean anything to anybody but us - so if it's a hint, it looks likely it's sent in our direction... obviously they got a percentage of the transfer fee we paid Liverpool as part of the which took him to Liverpool in the first place, so they will know what we paid Liverpool for him. chuck em a few quid friendly game at Sincil bank pre season and all sorted

flanimal Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Why should N'Guessan not be more valuable than Hobbs? He's got more games under his belt, similar age, already a proven quality.
CosbehFox Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 I'm sure 500k for Gareth Williams would have delighted Forest At the time they were enraged. As for the Milan comment, mucho agree.
Jimmy Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Why should N'Guessan not be more valuable than Hobbs? Smudge Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Answered your own question there. No I haven't. Just because compensation hasn't been agreed doesn't mean a player can't move to another club if he's out of contract. That's what the arbitration process is for and as Alex says, that's the last thing Lincoln will want. Steff Wright will prefer to agree a fee before the tribunal. Lincoln will get more that way, and it's a lot less hassle. If N'Guessan's agreed in principal with a few places dependant on teh fee then Lincoln are going to choose the one which suits them best. Good point Alex that's the bit I was missing. I hadn't considered that he would agree personal terms with more than one club, I was working on the fact that he had agreed the package with Leicester only therefore, the haggle between the teams was about how much compenstation.
foxeslad1985 Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 i honestly dnt think these 2 r gunna but i wud love lita here not to sure on the keeper weale we always have players no one else wants and like cox and etc i can see both liteing the championship up but then again i can see dyer doing that

When you put it like that. Mandaric should get you in on the negotiating!
Jimmy Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Hmm. When you put it like that. Mandaric should get you in on the negotiating! why bother negotiating? he hasn't been there all that long so the tribunal wouldn't set the compensation that high, agree a deal with him and let the courts decide the fee, Nicky Adam's wasn't that much and he had been at Bury his whole career

Because, I think N'Guessan is a lot better than Nicky Adams. Also, Lincoln isn't N'Guessan's first club. He's been at Auxerre and Rangers, so they shouldn't be entitled to much at all.

Hitesh Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Just read the report on BBC and its just the usual chairman talk to gas the price up a bit and big him up etc. Milan is a wise ol fella and knows all the tricks in the book and I'm sure he will come to some sort of arrangement! Not sure if their chairman knows what he's on about though with all that Hobbs talk!

Jon the Hat Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 No I haven't. Just because compensation hasn't been agreed doesn't mean a player can't move to another club if he's out of contract. That's what the arbitration process is for and as Alex says, that's the last thing Lincoln will want. It is also the last thing we would want. Certainty is a valuable thing in finance.
surrifox Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 I thought that the fee a tribunal sets is largely governed by the offer that is made to the player by the "selling" club- so if they really value a player they will make a high offer but of course if he accepts they would be screwed as they would not only have to pay him but they would lose out on the compo. The system really works against the smaller clubs for that reason but is designed to make them put up or shut up . I believe that we played the system by offering a big contract offer to Shush knowing he'd reject it and Leeds would have to cough up more dosh
