signings that made you jump out of your seat

Ok were in silly season again with rumors about so and so coming to city. Constantly logging onto teamtalk and clubcall etc and the ongoing saga with Cox and N'gussen made me think about signings that city have made with made me actully cream myself when i heard they were coming to us as these two have not really done for me yet. Ive not included players like Izzet and Elliot as yes they were great players but i'd never heard of them before they came here. Its just about players I couldn't believe we signed who I actully rated. For me I can only think of the following:

Mark Draper

Bought a season ticket for the first time that season when we bought him form Notts County. We'd just been promoted I think Brian Little was manager then. Use to watch Draper on central news sports section, this lad would score every week for county couldn't believe it when we got him. Was our best player that season, but couldn't save us from the drop and got a move to Villa I think. Remember him scoring a few corkers that season from free kicks.

Neil Lennon

Midfield maistro. O'Neils best signing for me (and there were a few of them). Everything went through him, anchor man. Seen him play for crew another one that made go "yes" when he signed

Robbie Savage

Savage by name savage by nature. Mr 100% would give it his all every week. Were he lacked in skill would make up for it in shear grit.

Stan Collymore

Couldn't believe we signed him at the time. Ex Liverpool and England coming to city. Ok he had his problems off the pitch but on it... wow...will never forget that hatrick he got in a city shirt. That partnership of Heskey and Collymore would have been as good as any in the premiership at the time in my view. I honestly think if Heskey had stayed with us and Collymore had not broke his leg/ankle we would of stayed up the following year (yes even with taylor as manager)! That partnership would of been awesome.

And...thats it. Ive been racking my brain but I cant seem to think of any others which I was truely excited about when they signed.

Collymore mainly, I remember spending my school Lunchtime at home that day, just to watch his Press Conference :P

More recently, I was really pleased when Oakley signed for us...obviously that didn't last long :giggle:

Collymore's the only one I remember thinking 'We haven't managed him have we?' The buzz subsequently was pretty good too. All the way to him hitting the bar at Watford.

Davie Gibson - we were told he was good but most of us never knew how good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Gibson

Frank Worthington special talent.

Derek Dougan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Dougan

Allen Clarke (British record fee of £165,000 at the time which was amazing for City.)

Peter Shilton (I knew him as a nipper and when he signed professional forms for City, lots of us already thought he'd play for England)
