Found myself in a second-hand record shop today. Two purchases: -

 

The first was Leadbelly, an album called Alabama Bound.

 

Heard a lot of it previously. Half the tracks are solo the rest with the Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet. Amazing harmonies .........

.... the second was Organisation by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

 

It's their second album. Moody album cover, love it. Gonna' crack open a beer and give it a whirl on the turntable now.

Sorry .... if you were one of the three people that had this in your basket on the Norman Records web portal.

 

A big fan of the Hospital Productions label, and not really a download fan. I nipped in and nabbed this quick.

 

I know it is an American label, not that many UK distribution channels. But if the music is as good as the promo claims, why the limited run on the vinyl in the first place?

 

Just don't get me started (rant!) 

 

PS enjoying this, very atmospheric. Apparently based on a Japanese ghost story!

In a slight twist to the usual posts .......

 

....... an exciting day within the swanlee man cave.....

 

I'm listening to my new Pro-ject Debut Carbon DC phonographic device.

 

A well worn stylus led to investigation into the merits or otherwise of upgrading the carriage, and other bits n' bobs, on my old turntable.

 

And as it was was close to fifteen years old (time flies)! It was decided to replace the whole thing.

 

Sonic wonderment abounds (never has Basinski sounded so sweet) and attention now turns to the battered, cantankerous & well worn old Tannoy speakers .....
