MPH Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Breathtakingly thoughtless from Milan. I'm more annoyed because this aint really how I wanted to start the season, all these bad vibes. Oh well, maybe we'll beat Swansea and it won't seem like such a big deal (maybe that's what the club want us to think though?). i think the part that sickens me about being lied to in this way is the TIMING that they have announced it on... KNOWING the fans wont have time to properly complain because its the first day of the season and for the most part our minds will be elsewhere
Finnegan Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I doubt there's anything I'd say that hasn't been said already - but that's utterly shameful. Edit: They could at least have put it under the number.
Milky Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Already bought mine, and glad. IT WON'T BE ON THE REPLICA SHIRTS
bluebeau Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I doubt there's anything I'd say that hasn't been said already - but that's utterly shameful.Edit: They could at least have put it under the number. Just makes you think for future ref: Do I believe these Fooking wankers? This has annoyed me more than any other trick this football club have pulled since I have been supporting MY TEAM, not this bunch of fraudsters who are only in it to line their own bloody pockets! If I had a local club playing a decent standard of football, LCFC could shove their ticket where the sun doesn't shine!
Monk Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I think this goes to show that the real reason that we had a sponsorless shirt is that there were no good deals available at the time. Now this has come along, and well, Milan is a shrewd business man & he'd be a fool to turn it down. I'm not too fussed and anything that brings money into the club has to be a plus. Nice work
Lillehamring Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 ok. so... 1. why didn't they announce this on the mattock transfer request day, so it wouldn't have seemed so insensitive compared to his actions 2. why didn't they put it at the bottom of the shirt like a lot of clubs do 3. i can't wait to see the reactions on here next year when they announce that it will be staying on the back, as well as having the sponsor on the front! yup, you heard it here first, get used to the idea cause it will happen... it is already the norm here (in norway), and by introducing back sponsors this way, when they announce 'how lucrative' it has been and that they are going to stick with it, most fans (the chelsea daggers lovers, for example) will be used to it and not bat an eyelid... welcome to the new world of excessive multiple sponsorship:
fleckneymike Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 The sponsor on the back isn't the issue, it's more the lies the club put forward. We are all complicit in some way that we know the club spin things to us and we knowingly nod and wink back. This time however they've been genuinely deceitful, by allowing democracy to seemingly take place by having us vote on the shirt design we winked and nodded back knowing that this was just a publicity stunt to generate shirt sales. To then sneak out a press release on match day when the deal had clearly been struck at least 24 hours previously judging by the photo is blatently treating fans withcontempt.
lavrentis Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Ha not surprised me this has. What a load of bollocks.
MC Prussian Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Not that much of a big deal, all clubs are in for the money. Nothing new on that front, and placing it on the back of the shirt doesn't really raise an issue, does it? And, replica shirts are excluded from this marketing stunt, so hold your horses. It's not like we as fans can dictate a club, which is a company like thousands of others, what to do in terms of sponsorship. What you can complain about, however, is the way it was done and when it was announced. THAT is shameful. Why it is Jessops when they had to lay off employers in the past few months and years? Maybe it's a sign of better things to come and the economic crisis is about to be conquered? Sponsorships of this dimension do usually act as some sort of positive ignition of some sort. And Jessops is a local company as far as I know, with almost 80 years of experience, so going local does make sense.
Foxhateram Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 It doesn't really matter. alright I'm peeved that they kind of led us to believe something different. (although they played the media game well with saying "Front of the shirt a lot") We need money from somewhere though and this doesn't really affect anyone in a detrimental way, why not.
Chrysalis Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 shrewd move by the club I reckon. 1 - fans shirts wont have it on, so you still not a walking jessops advert. 2 - its at the back so front of shirt remains clean. 3 - any money for the club is good in my opinion.
The Doctor Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 in all honesty im fine with it but surely we could have put a charitys name there instead?
Granno Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 I thought all this fooking moaning would have stopped now the season has started.
Bluefoxtim Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 I only read about this after the game - I hadn't noticed it on the players shirts at all yesterday. I've only seen it from looking at the 'picture special'.
Fox4ever Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 My opinion:1. As a shirt sponsor, Jessops and their logo is 10 times better than topps tiles, LG, Alliance & Leicester (although that did seem relevant to Leicester) and the Weetabix that was proposed a few years ago! 2. People who think this is an issue, wait until next season!! This is a 2 year shirt, like the last one, but next season it WILL have a sponsor on the front, and won't have the commemorative badge, even though the design of the actual shirt will remain the same. If you read into what has been said by the club all along. So the decision will come, do we all buy another (fairly similar) shirt next season just to keep up??? 3. It may seem a bit deceptive by the club, but if you read into it all properly when it was announced, this should have been a bit obvious, especially with lots of other clubs now sporting sponsors on the rear of shirts. Don't get me wrong, I can understand to a certain extent why people may be a bit upset, but I think anyone who didn't see this coming, or who doesn't see the problems next season, is a little nieve. Do you not realise, it already has a sponsor on the front. JOMA. They may be the manufacturer but from the size and siting of their logo I would hazard a guess and say some deal was done as to its location. Maybe a reduced shirt cost to the club so that sold at full price the club can make a greater profit. They also have boards round the pitch as part of the deal. So now we have two sponsors one front and one back. What a con. Do they think we are total morons who believe any shit they feed us.
lou Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Cant say Im bothered as I have an away shirt but wouldnt be if they did the same to that to be honest. Its not affecting the replica shirts so dont see what the big deal is. Was surprised at who the sponsor was though as thought they were in deep shit moneywise? If it helps a local business then I suppose its not a bad thing. Cant stand Hoos though I have to say. Smarmy git.
Fosse Boy Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Sellouts. Had a feeling something like this might happen.
AjcW Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Havent they been in Administration like 3 times already this year, who saved them??
