Might free up some cash for a loan deal?

Would a loan for the rest of the season be better than keeping Gradel though? :dunno:

well WE as fans might value him more than that....

But he has made 1 Sub appearance in our first team this season and is mainly used as a sub in the division below us for leeds... Also when we were down there, he wasnt really a regular for us....

So what has he really done to deserve a higher valuation?

Don't want to state the obvious, but he's down in the pecking order which obviously doesn't suit him. Yes, £200k won't buy anything & is really crap, but we'll have an unhappy player on our hands. To be fair, the loan move has probably made him want a move from here anyway.

Do you think that he is any worse on the RH side of midfield than NGuessan and Oakley? I think that if we sell especially for £200k it will come back and bite us right on the arse. You only have to look at his record at Leeds to show that he is capable of adding something else off the bench, something our team currently lacks.

doesnt matter, I see reserve players from other clubs go for more money then that.

Depnds on the quality of the loan and whether it helps us get up or not.

I always rated him and was surprised that Pearson let him go to Leeds... I'm still hopeful it's just to give him more 1st team experience as he wasn't ready for this level but that seems unlikely.

It'll be interesting to see what we do come the end of the season with regards to Maxi as I think we should hold onto him.

I'd be very disappointed to see him leave for £200k, he's certainly worth more than that, if only as something of a supersub.

He had that amazing season on loan, did well when called upon for us last year and appears to be doing the business for Leeds from the bench. I'm not convinced we could bring in anyone better for the sum being talked about and he's surely not a high wage earner we need to clear out so where's the benefit?

200k what a complete joke. Why do we undersell players so much?

Who does these valuations?

Remember the source. When was the last time Mercury 'sources' got it right? The few times they do get it right it's from national press or a forum.

As has been said before, what has he done to be worth more than £200k?

Scoring a free kick against MK Dons and coming off the bench in League 1 to score against Leyton Orient doesn't exactly boost your value.

Leeds United are working on a deal to keep Max Gradel at Elland Road permanently according to Simon Grayson. More on 104.9fm at 5.30.

I don't understand this, Gradel is a good player with the potential to become even better...surely that's the kind of player we need around?

I think it would be good to have him round too, but for me it's quite clear the manager doesn't really think he fits in here. Pearson may say in the media that Gradel has been loaned out to play first-team football, and of course that is one major reason he did go to Leeds, but I personally guess there's more to it than that. Given our struggles down the right-wing this season you would have thought he'd at least keep Gradel in the squad, but Pearson just doesn't seem to be able to find a place for him. It's probably not a personal thing against Gradel or anything, its just the rigid system/formation that Pearson uses, and it almost seems that he doesn't dare play two out-and-out wingers from the outset in a game.

Just listening to the radio whilst I was out and it said that Gradel is returning because an extended deal has not been made

Basically he's returning from his current loan but wont go on an extended loan due to no 24hr recall being available. Leeds are trying to make the deal permanent.

And so the daft valuations begin...

Gradel rarely cut the mustard in Div III last season and has been judged to be surplus to requirements this season. The kind of confidence in his ability and potential demonstrated by Pearson doesn't chalk him up to being a player of value.

I don't believe for a second they don't have money though - cup runs, sell outs, Delph sale - they can afford more than 200K, whether he's worth it or not.

I'll miss him if/when he goes. He'll always be remembered for that MK Dons away goal for me, and many others no doubt.

You said it. :(

That remains my all-time favourite moment in LCFC history, even above play-off and League Cup wins. Very strange and I can barely explain it myself but it's true.

Really wish it had worked out here for the little fella, but que sera sera.

Better than Woolers and I singing "Cheryl Cole's a slapper..." on the tube after the Chelsea game? You've changed...

No i dont, i think he is much better. And Yes, it WILL come back to haunt us and no i dont think its a fee thats indicitive of his potential.

But you are missing the point - you have to be realistic

Yes it very well does matter actually. lol

He has no champioinship experience, has started just a couple of games for Leeds this season and been on the subs bench will hardly be on a big contract as he hasnt been a first team regular EVER in his short career. Whats he actually achieved in football?

Lets face it, If we can get Hobbs who has all the potential to be a very good prem player ( who held down regular place in the 1st division last season) for 400k then what right to we have to expect more for Gradel?

Not saying i like it one bit.. but hey ho...

Any transfer fee will be undisclosed but if the rumour of £200,000 is correct, then we are daft as a brush.

N'Guessan, an inconsistent league 2 player cost us more than that.

I'd prefer us to keep Maxi as he can offer us something different that we currently lack.
