fatmando Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Sign him up. Will be decent at set pieces and a steady RB! just what we need.
Matt Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Why did Colchester not sign him when they had the chance? £££? Arguably, Why should we sign him if he demands alot of money? BUT if he's got the fitness and skill, I see no reason why not, Colchester may have thought he had the fitness, skill, e.t.c left in him and he may have been the ideal signing for them but they fell short on one thing - Money. I don't know but it's a possible conclusion
hbkkids Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 solano may be a good signing, but come on Kanu an d Marcus Bent, surely they can get a bit of a better club than city, taylor would be a cracking signing as well!
SMX11 Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Didn't Cadamarteri and Kermorgant impress in training? Admittedly Solano sounds as good a proposition as any of the veteran stars MM seemed to crave in the past like JFH, Robbie Fowler and Edgar Davids. But remember Lee Hendrie? He was a biggish name but he just didn't have the staying power any more. I sometimes wonder if we'll ever learn. Solano would be another short-term gamble for a management and a club so desperate for instant achievement that I feel quite sure their self-imposed pressure will be their undoing anyway. But then there's no doubting we've had far worse old timers than Solano. How is he a gamble? We aren't gonna pay 1 Mil for him and he cant demand excessive wages. I would rather have him on the right than Oakley. He might still have a decent delivery, which we desperately need both in open play and set pieces. Btw can he play at right back?
ousefox Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 I would have him tbh. At least we know he can guarentee a good ball into the box and maybe that would be good for the last 20 mins of a match if he comes of the bench.
MC Prussian Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 I would have him tbh. At least we know he can guarantee a good ball into the box and maybe that would be good for the last 20 mins of a match if he comes of the bench. I thought that's what we signed Big Yann for???
Ozwin Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Our right side is shocking, he can play in both positions, plus he can take free kicks, get the bugger in.
Sylvie85 Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but same as earlier posts wouldn't want to see gradel leave for him to be brought in.
Sylvie85 Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 just heard Quinton fortune's been released, he's only 36!! Get him in as well!!
Corky Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 If Pearson sees enough in him to give a contract then I've no problem with him joining.
kimbell Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Probably be the best player on Leicester City's books, if signed
DanTheFox07 Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 he left Newcastle a couple of years ago, also on the not good enough for Newcastle point, they are better then us meaning they will have players that are better hen our players who can't get into the side... o.k you would have a vallid point, but 1) Colchester didn`t sign him up either and there not a better side than us and 2) I wouldn`t exactly say there a massive gulf in class between us and newcastle judging from when we last played them.
whitlock Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Probably be the best player on Leicester City's books, if signed McGivern? Neilson? Dickov? Oakley? Obviously dont go and watch Leicester much!
Karljohn Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Dunno what the fuss is regarding age! particularly when a lot of people would rather have Chris Powell at left back at the moment!
Webbo Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Someone fetch a spade and lets dig up Stanley Mathews.
lcfcadam Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 McGivern?Neilson? Dickov? Oakley? Obviously dont go and watch Leicester much!
CosbehFox Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 o.k you would have a vallid point, but 1) Colchester didn`t sign him up either and there not a better side than us and 2) I wouldn`t exactly say there a massive gulf in class between us and newcastle judging from when we last played them. Colchester couldn't afford him. Tbh, Solano's always been a honest professional. He moved to Peru, so he could try and get his country to the World Cup. See no harm in a month to month deal. Pearson done ok identifying old pro's with something to give.
Bryn Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Would improve our set pieces tenfold if nothing else. Would be happy to see him given 6 months or pay per play.
Koke Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Dunno what the fuss is regarding age! particularly when a lot of people would rather have Chris Powell at left back at the moment! Powell done well with us and he is older than Solano. And even now loads of people want him at LB, at the young age of 40. Solano's game was never about pace, so he can't lose something he never had. He's all around game was quality, and plus he has a tremendous crossing abilities. His set pieces and crosses will be a big asset to us. We are obviously skint, and Nigel is operating with his hands tied behind his back in the transfer market.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Kanu and Solano !?Its all getting a bit too much for me, Howard fucking off would send me to the point of no return. !!! People calling him 'over the hill' etc make me laugh, when they've probably not even seen him play since he left England, unless they get a decent amount of Peruvian and Greek football, of course.
Maybes Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 I thought that's what we signed Big Yann for??? We signed Big Yann to guarantee a good ball into the box? News to me that is.
whitlock Posted 21 January 2010 Posted 21 January 2010 Nobby on trial, how about that About 6 hours too late
Nick Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 God I'd love to be positive about this. 'Sign him up' my heart says.... My head says ' For pity's sake he's 35, got to fit into a mid season playing style, will demand a bunch of cash and the return will be extremely minimal. If he joins tomorrow and scores 10 goals this season I'll be amazed. My guess would be nearer 4 goals till season end. If his fitness is exemplary I'd be prepared to revise this.......but I doubt it.
