Jackirius Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 just watching ssn about the Italy Serbia game - bloody hell!!! Bloody awesome game, just like how football fans should behave.
Samilktray Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Hope FIFA kick Serbia and there vile fans out of these qualifiers.
Maybes Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Hope FIFA kick Serbia and there vile fans out of these qualifiers. If it were England that would the case. Cant seem UEFA doing it to Serbia mind.
Fosse Boy Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Absolute fucking madness from the Serbs. Seems like a combination of tensions running high over Kosovo, general protest against the national side and Serbian FA, and wanting to prove themselves in Italy, where the Ultras scene originated. Different world for some of these Eastern European nations, absolutely crazy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJSBy_9Qj84&feature=player_embedded As for England, well it doesn't surprise me. Everybody harks on about change for a couple of months after a tournament failure, a couple of wins appease everyone, all that is wrong is forgotten, the culture doesn't change, the cycle continues.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Typical shit England performance. But I really dont give a toss, we'll qualify, be really poor and everyone will be saying the same thing as they always do.
Fosse Boy Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Apparently the Serbs were throwing flares at a section full of families. Cowardice of the highest order if true.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Apparently the Serbs were throwing flares at a section full of families. Cowardice of the highest order if true. Unfortunately the Serbs have shown they aren't above flare throwing before. I remember some of the Red Star lot throwing them at our fans in Vienna, and that's going back 10 years. Absolutely disgusting if that's what they've done again.
MC Prussian Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Cheer up, folks. Austria only drew 4-4 in Belgium.
shen Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 Cheer up, folks. Austria only drew 4-4 in Belgium. Goodness me. On that evidence, Austria can find themselves lucky not to have lost 8-4! Still trying to figure out what has gone so horribly wrong for the Belgian national team. They've never looked likely to qualify for anything since 2002 despite having several players at big clubs.
Koke Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 I was just watching the Serbian nationalists on Italian TV. Outside the ground, the police really went hard on them - they were treated like the animals they are. Everytime the Serbs have a setback they seem to throw their dummy out and do stupid shit.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 I think playing a holding midfielder against a nation with a population fewer than Scarborough and missing their main attacking threat anyway was genius from old Fabio. Well worth the £6 million a year.
Koke Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Cesare Prandelli reveals Vladimir Stojkovic was “shaking like a leaf” before kick-off. “The hooligans’ actions were pre-meditated. They didn’t want the game to be played.” Italy-Serbia was abandoned after six minutes at Marassi this evening when travelling fans repeatedly threw flares, used wire-cutters to slice open the protective nets and smashed in the Plexiglas barriers. “We knew something was very strange when their first choice goalkeeper, Stojkovic, was sitting in our locker room shaking like a leaf,” explained Coach Prandelli. “He said the Serbian team bus had been attacked, he had been threatened and feared for his safety. That was when we understood their actions were pre-meditated. “The intention of the Serbian fans was to ensure this game was not played. Was he beaten up? I don’t know.” Stojkovic was taken to a local hospital for tests, but it is unclear what exactly happened on the bus. Some reports state several hooligans burst through the doors as it was about to leave the hotel and threw flares, one of them striking or at least hurting Stojkovic. The UEFA delegates and Serbian FA tried to push the game on, but Scottish referee Craig Thomson declared the safety of the players could not be guaranteed. Serbs also injured their own goal keeper Vladimir Stojkovic by invading the team bus and throwing smoke bombs in there. Italy will probably be awarded a 3-0 win, and Serbs will be banned from attending away games for a number of qualifiers. Politics and football mixed together is disastrous.
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2010 Author Posted 13 October 2010 It's seriously over Kosovo? Or were the chaps with the Albanian flag just a minority of morons within the morons? How the fuck is that a reasonable outlet? Mental. You'd think by now they'd be used to the breakdown of former Yugoslavia. Wouldn't mind but it's population's less than five percent Serb anyway. Are they holding on for anything other than some sense of nationalist pride?
Ford Super Sunday Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 I'd go extreme on Serbia Forget awarding the game to Italy. I'd have Serbia thrown out of the Euro 2012 competition entierly, and forced to play their home games either at a neutral venue or behind closed doors for the foreseeable future. If you come down soft, it'll seem like it's something that UEFA can't or don't want to control, when it really has to be, giving free reign for the fans to cause havoc when things return to normal. If that kind of extreme intervention was introduced but then the same thing happened, well, I'd just throw Serbia into the international football wilderness, no friendlies, no qualifiers, no major tournaments. Sort your fans out before you come back into the international scene. I'll probably get a lot of **** offs for that, as it is harsh, but if you don't come down hard then it's just going to carry on.

Nah, I tend to agree with you. Obviously I'm a huge fan of passionate support but last night was in no way that and should be clamped down upon. Why the Serbs didn't want the game played I don't know. I'd love to think that they would be thrown out of Euro 2012 entirely but UEFA seem to lose their cajones when dealing with fan trouble that has no English involvement, so a nominal fine roughly equivalent to one player's match fees and one or two games behind closed doors is probably about as harsh it's going to get. Thus utterly failing to address the problem, it's the UEFA way.
Dr The Singh Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Chris Coleman? Half decent manager if you forget his time at Coventry. Other then him I am struggling for a name. I forgot about him, he could do half a decent job. They should go for someone like El Tel.!!!
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2010 Author Posted 13 October 2010 I should manage Wales. I'd get Al Pacino to deliver half time speeches written by Phil Bennet and play Rob Earnshaw in every position.

Finnegan Posted 13 October 2010 Author Posted 13 October 2010 There are times you're nearly as weird as nightguard you know.

Fosse Boy Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Good job he covered up his tats so the police wouldn't recognise him...

Well worth the £6 million a year. Not just that, but Gerrard was very defensive too. Not sure whether he was told to or what but it wasn't very energetic.

How do you decide which the extra countries will be/which teams get byes? Do they get thrown out of this seasons european competitions or starting from next season? Not saying it isn't a good idea but with that many potential problems it's fairly easy for FIFA/UEFA to just give them a slap on the wrist due to "complications in ensuring a fair european competiton when certain nations will be missing" or some similar excuse.
MC Prussian Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Ring leader has been found Apparently hiding in the baggage compartment of the bus http://video.gazzett...60-00144f02aabc Ivan is not a Welshman. As much as I dislike elements like him, the local police should also be questioned as to why they couldn't prevent flares, knives and other dangerous items smuggled into the Luigi Ferraris.
