Oakley the worst city captain I've ever seen

He has got to be the worst. I cant think off many as bad as him and I've been watching city since the 80's. What does he give to the team to inspire the lads?

He doesnt score enough goals

He cant tackle

Passing is hit and miss

I dont see him geeing up the players much when we start losing a game

How he gets in the team is beyond me let alone skipper the side. I can count the number of good games hes had in one hand since he arrived form Derby.

Pearson takes him off most games. Which other clubs do that? Rafa doesn't take Stevie G off ever, or Fergie takes off Rio.

Time for a change Jack Hobbs is the natural choice for me.

he has been so poor all season...def does not deserve to be in the team let alone Captain...Also when he was subbed at Derby he seemed at home there so maybe he shoud just go back and take Howard with him!!!

IMO, hes shockingly shit. He shouldn't even get another look-in the side this season. King, Spearing, Wellens and Adams are all better than him IMO. Oakley hasn't scored yet this season, rarely feeds in a killer assist. Can't really deliver a decent ball in. And can't really tackle TBH. He was decent in League1 but can't handle it in this division. Dont have a clue why he's captain.

Hasn't been great recently granted.

Football fans really are fickle.

At the end of the day we are 6th - look where we've come from...

In the grand scheme of things yes we've lost 4 games on the bounce - but moaning and booing really isn't going to get us anywhere is it. Support is.

But you have to agree Oakley has been woefull this season,no one's booing.

But you have to agree Oakley has been woefull this season,no one's booing.

His performances recently have been of a player who is completely knackered. We're going to have to find another central midfielder for next season, as Oakley's career is on the way down quickly. I have a lot of time for him for playing a big part in us recovering from the relegation season, but he's had it at championship level.

I hope he scores against Preston away to put us 1-0 and we make the play offs then watch all you lot sing his name, get a grip.

Today I finally lost my patience with him. I, along with many other fans at the Hawthorns today, cheered when Oakley was hauled off. He is a passenger in our team. What the f**k does he do these days and what has he done this season for us? Every time he gets the ball, it's a sideways or backwards pass which he plays and then stands still, offering no support to the midfielder or defender he passes to. Then when he does try a more positive pass, he simply gives it away.

His legs have gone and he never gets into any attacking positions any more. His support play is woeful and I think Pearson has to get rid of him this summer.

Can I just say, I've been on Oakley's back all season and think he has majorly underperformed as a player as well as a captain. I don't, however, agree with the booing. I'm sure he will be just as disappointed with his performances this season as we are. I agree that he probably shouldn't be captain as he isn't that commanding, but I thought he did okay today. Last week against Derby I thought was probably his worst performance in a Leicester shirt but he definately looked much better today. Changing captains at this stage isn't the best idea and I think we should stick with him.

Yeah, who doesn't? Doesn't change the fact that he's been very poor recently.

This i agree with, why boo him and shout w a nker when he is subbed, bloody pathetic why he plays in a lcfc shirt we should support him the same with the others,i just hope for the remaining home games we get behind the team.

Anyone can see tey are low in confidence give the lads a break :scarf::scarf:

I am not an Oakley fan at all, I think he has been poor all season.

The fact that he is captain is embarrassing, simply because he doesn't do at least one of two things:

1) Lead by example. He doesn't put a tackle in, he doesn't seem to want the ball and use it in a positive way. He almost seems to drift effortlessly around the pitch; with either Wellens or King looking to pick the ball up from the back and use it.

2) He doesn't have a voice on the pitch. Not once have I seen him use his voice to support the lads and encourage them. I have never seen him help the younger lads out and give them the support and advice that they have clearly needed.

Last season he did lead by example by scoring many goals and generally playing well. However seeing as that was in league one and we seemingly cruised to the title it seems little consolidation for him.

I agree that Berner is a very good shout for captain, and I think that Jack Hobbs is showing maturity much beyond his years in even challenging Oakley for his pathetically "earned" captaincy.

Worst captain ever what a load of tosh!

He isn't play well granted, but he always works hard thing aren't happening for him at the moment like 5 or 6 other players.

Latest scapegoat - same old same old when we are struggling.

Granted Oakley is playing poorly and should be trying harder to up his game or at the very least put a real shift in to show he is bothered BUT the whole of our midfield has been below standard for a few weeks. Looking at yesterday our guys were second to virtually every free ball, gave up all the space between the defence and midfield line and looked almost as though they expected to lose the battle.

King actually had half a decent game yesterday, the first time for months but if anyone is to point the finger at Oakley for failing to tackle or get stuck in - please look at Andy King and see exactly the same.

Wellens was poor again yesterday with passes going astray left right and centre - he isn't the player this season that he was for Doncaster last season - and looked as though he couldn't be arsed to go the extra mile to close space down or try and block a number of WBA chances.

Get off Oakley's back or if you are one of the boo boys - start booing all of them as it's the whole midfield that is not performing. Let's hope NP either gets a reaction from them or makes a few changes to force them to up their games.

This, up to a point anyway.

It needs to be said that Oakley has spent much of the season out of position on the right flank, where he has done a job for the team even though his form has suffered because of it,

In the games immediately before our current awful run he was playing in a central position and was effective as any one else in our 3 man midfield. Their performance has not always been great but I feel that is down to the similarity in styles of our 3 midfielders, the absence of Fryatt and the lack of options available to Pearson to change things around..

At the present time Oakley looks tired and somewhat lackluster, though I think he had a decent first half yesterday, he certainly started very brightly. He is not our only player to be a bit off the pace, Waghorn, Wellens and even Hobbs were well short of their best yesterday, taking on the second best team in the division with a tired team, lacking in confidence was always going to be difficult and although we ended up well beaten, I did not think that we played that badly.

to me Oakley just doesn't offer as much as he needs to in either of the positions he has played this season, either on the right (I use that term loosely as he rarely was found there), or just behind the striker the doesn't have the legs to get beyond the striker enough).

King & Oakley doesn't seem to work, Kings for means you can't really drop him to give Wellens/Oakley a proper try so really he doesn't fit into the side any more in my opinion, if we're going to play the 1 upfront system Gallagher is the best option for behind the striker. If its 4-4-2 Adams, Gallagher or N'Guessan all provide more width and a greater attacking threat from the wing.

as for the captaincy issue Hobbs or Brown would be better leaders in my opinion

What a load shit... Worst captain ever?! Most ridiculous phrase ever more like. Have you forgotten who captained us to silverware last year?? This just highlights the fickle nature of some city fans. Latest bandwagon to jump on I think... Don't forget where we've come from and where we are now, Oakley has just been a passenger on the way has he?? Bollocks.

Oakley has been poor all season. I think he has had his prime and is now at the age.

He doesn't tackle, he doesn't score enough goals and doesn't get involved enough (well neither does David Beckham) and shouldn't start really.

Looking to the above post though, Wellens has just hit form now though and these last few games I think he's been awesome, as well as Andy King who mops up midfield lovely.

I'd like to see Spearing in the midfield instead of Oakley.
