I am just about to switch energy suppliers(long overdue).  We have not got a smart meter and we just can't decide whether we should get one.  Any strong opinions for and against would be welcome!

Im strongly for. Just for the fact you can keep an eye on your usage by the hour, day, week, month or year. Certainly helped us save some money. Cant think of any reasons to be against tbh.

Ok thanks. Just because I heard that some of the meters(maybe the older ones) lose connectivity and people as a result have received ridiculous bills, which the energy companies have taken as gospel because of the meter.

As an update, the property went on the market last week, we’ve had 6 viewings and today,  two offers, one for the full asking price from a cash buyer! 
Hopefully just the formalities to sort out and it’s gone 🤞

Going to Leicester this Saturday.   The weather is not looking too great,  any recommendations for good indoor activities for a 3 and 1 years old?   Open to travel to Leicestershire as well.

Not sure we need cheap jokes at these astronauts expense tbh. The expertise to fasten, unfasten and re-fasten their seat belts is humbling.

Vue cinema start times.

If a film is advertised to start at say, 14:30, when does the actual film itself start? I'm assuming that first you get 10 or 15 mins of other stuff and what you actually wish to see begins around 14:45.

Is that fair to say?

I'm asking because I cannot arrive to see a film until 10 mins after the advertised start time.

Usually it's 30 mins after the advertised times. You get adverts, then trailers, then another advert right before the film starts. 

 

At least that's what happens at Odeon. It might be quicker and around 20 mins, but you'll be fine arriving 10-15mins late.

Has anyone had any success appealing a primary school offer? 
 

We didn’t get into the school within walking distance cause it was ‘oversubscribed’. That said, got into a good school still.

It seems I’ve been banned from posting in the general news thread and had a post removed. 
It was a reply to the screenshot below. 
Was there some reason I’m unaware of?

I’ve just declared that I have started working again on a zero hour contract at a previous job that I used to do to the DWP as I’ve been claiming benefits(universal credit). Now they are asking me for 4 months worth of bank statements and photo id. Think it’s absolutely amazing they are legally allowed to do it but presume I won’t have any option but to do this. I have nothing to hide but it’s just how the hell they are allowed to do it which is galling for me. 
 

Not even be paid from my new old job yet been waiting to hear when I am and not heard anything back yet as well. Right mess
