davieG Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Well he likes Leicester and Sven. [/url] Manchester City bossRoberto Mancini is looking forward to facing former club Leicester City in Sunday's FA Cup tie.Mancini only stayed briefly with the Foxes before returning to Italy to begin his management career withFiorentina. “I stayed at Leicester for one month and I really enjoyed my time with the club,” he told City's website. “If my memory serves me correct, I left with the team in a good position – sixth I think – and I played five games, only one of which we lost to Everton. “It was a very good experience for me – short, but enjoyable and it made me want to return to work in England one day. The Leicester fans were wonderful to me and the players were very respectful and friendly, too. “I’d like to thank everyone connected with the club and particularly the supporters for making my time with them so happy.” Manchester City bossRoberto Mancini says he's happy to continue doing transfer business withLeicester City.Mancini's former coach Sven Goran Eriksson is now in charge of the Foxes and he has already sent two of his young players to Walkers stadium this season. “I am very happy Sven is the manager at Leicester because he has been a big influence on my career, and it is nice for both clubs to have this relationship,” he said. “I was happy to let Greg Cunningham develop his game under Sven and we are happy Ben Mee will also have the opportunity to progress, too. “I can’t ever remember having my team take on Sven’s team – we were always together and I worked alongside him for a long time – maybe 15 years."
cc_star Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 We <3 Mancini too, they were great days. Just hope we can cobble a defence together to make a decent game of it
Babylon Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 If you are going to have a relationship with a club... it's not bad that they are the richest in the world and are stockpiling good players left right and centre.
Bob Farley Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Man city are probably the best club to have a good relationship with haha
Jordan Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 If you are going to have a relationship with a club... Mancini's time at Filbert Street was more evocative of a clumsy one-night stand than an actual take-her-out-to-dinner relationship.
Finnegan Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 He meant ours with Man City. And I think Mancini had every intention of staying longer, he was just offered a step into management.
renards Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Very much Sven sorting that deal, left to Taylor and it would not of happened I always got shitting hand-me-downs, great to have wealthy friends
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Probably Taylor's best signing. That's a certainty
themotivator Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 being a lazio fan after leicester i pretty much love mancini and sven. my dad is also mates with the bloke who was mancinis translator while he was over here. i think he lived down the road from us.
Corky Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I think he's a good manager who will deliver success at Man City. It was great to see a player of his stature playing for us.

Ric Flair Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I'm waiting for an established player to turn up, it'll be difficult for all 3 parties to agree but it will happen. Johnson is surely the most likely or maybe Jo as a long shot.
okie fox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Quote Mancini only stayed briefly with the Foxes before returning to Italy to begin his management career with Fiorentina. I never saw Mancini play because he was offered the managerial job in Italy just days before the FA cup tie with Bristol City. Some more sob stories: I could have seen Beckenbauer play, but he failed a fitness test before a game I went to in Germany in 1967. I should have seen Maradona play, but he was suspended for drugs on the morning of a1994 World Cup game that i went to in Dallas.
Jordan Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Wow, that was an absolutely terrible job by my earlier in this thread and I'd like to apologize to all of FoxesTalk for that. I don't know how I managed to screw up reading that so badly. I'm looking forward to this game very much. Mancini seems like he's really going for the Cup, and the way the league is looking he might not have a choice but try to get to Wembley. But if Mancini's so keen on being a nice guy to Leicester, then can't he let us win in a seven-goal thriller as well?
Wymsey Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 My Auntie gave him private English lessons at night at Loughborough College did you know
Jackirius Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 My Auntie gave him private English lessons at night at Loughborough College did you know I bet thats not all she gave him.
Wymsey Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I bet thats not all she gave him. i agree mind you she was single at the time.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 8 January 2011 Posted 8 January 2011 "Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has described Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson as his "brother and teacher" ahead of their clubs' FA Cup showdown."
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 January 2011 Posted 8 January 2011 After reading through a few interviews with Sven in the build up to all this, one thing that's struck me is how often he's mentioned how he's enjoying working for our owners. I know the (alleged) business with Pearson leaving and Sousa coming in was a bit messy, but I can't help myself actually starting to like Top, etc now. They seem ready to spend, and he's much less of a media whore than Mandaric. Comes across as shrewd without treating the club like a business, and it's refreshing after years of having a bullshitting Serb meddling with everything. I honestly think we're better off now than we were this time last season.
stivesfox Posted 8 January 2011 Posted 8 January 2011 Well I will applaud Mancini 5 games a superstar shame the Fiorentina job came up, and seems he never forgot us! Sorry Roberto your a top man but Vassell will score and we will beat you, I have a feeling Chris Weale will fustrate them and show his doubters he is a good goalie! More wanting to beat Preston in a weeks time than Man City but be good day full house national exposure, what ever the score we have 21 league games to get back to the top table of English Football and a manager who will bring the best diners to our table. So we will enjoy the superstars of Man City gracing the walkers stadium but the real deal is 21 cup finals to get this great club back.
