I am Rod Hull Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 I see on Sky Sports news that MON is to take over the Hammers. Thoughts... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6663649,00.html
darko2k7 Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Suprised he as gone for them , thought he was going to wait for one of the big clubs to come in for him !

I thought he`d be ideal for the Liverpool job at the end of the season. They need a man motivator and theres not many better than MON.
MikeyT Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Indeed... I thought he`d be ideal for the Liverpool job at the end of the season. They need a man motivator and theres not many better than MON. Agreed, been saying this for a while that i thought he'd be the next Liverpool manager. Iguess if there's one man to keep the Hammers up it's him though,
Finnegan Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Disappointing. Didn't really care much about Villa but I can't stand West Ham.
Bryn Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Surely this is just a role til the end of the season or something? He can't possibly see himself there for long?
Master Fox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 That sucks. I hope he does the right thing and takes them down. Sad to see O'neill at such a gypo place like West Ham
MC Prussian Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 What are the odds of West Ham still getting relegated, despite his appointment?
Matt Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 What are the odds of West Ham still getting relegated, despite his appointment? West Ham To Stay Up - 11/10 Relegation - 4/6 To Finish Bottom - 5/2 Not sure if those odds are any different to before, whether they have changed the odds slightly to reflect O'Neill's appointment, not sure.
davieG Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Whatever your views on the relative merits of Grant and MON, if this is true and it's Grant's last game and he hasn't been told then what a shitty way to run a club. Mind you not a lot different to how Mandaric handle the Sousa / Sven changeover.

Mind you not a lot different to how Mandaric handle the Sousa / Sven changeover. It doesn't say a lot for MON when he's took the job before the present incumbent has even been sacked.
ScouseFox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Just weird. Wouldn't have thought it was MON's cup of tea. They look doomed.
davieG Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 It doesn't say a lot for MON when he's took the job before the present incumbent has even been sacked. Agree to some extent but difficult as people are often interviewed before jobs become available what is unacceptable is letting the press get wind of it and certainly nowhere near as bad as when Sousa replaced Pearson.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 I always quite liked Villa and even more so with MON there. But I dont like West Ham at all, and that isnt going to change much with MOn in charge. Personally I dont know why he has gone there, all the fans do is moan moan moan and for the way they have treated Grant is very bad i think. No doubt MON will do well there but just think he could have got a bigger job in time with better owners, fans, etc.
davieG Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 MON's problem is that there aren't many clubs now that don't have interfering Chairmen/Owners and as he likes to have full control of all aspects of the team he's pretty much burnt his bridges in terms of getting a top 5 club.
sdb Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 strange one, and awful from the morons running WH (not that i'm surprised). Easiest 3 points Arsenal will pick up this season, I'd have thought.
davieG Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Depending on who you believe it's not true Avram Grant will not be sacked following West Ham United's match against Arsenal at Upton Park this evening, according to a very senior source on the club's board. Reports claimed this morning that Grant would be relieved of his position this evening even if West Ham defeat Arsenal. But when contacted this morning and asked if this was what would happen the senior board member told Guardian Sport: "I can categorically say that it is not correct. I do not know where that [the report] has come from." Martin O'Neill and Sam Allardyce head the list of potential replacements should Grant be sacked. As other senior board members could not be contacted today regarding Grant's job, his future remains moot. West Ham currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table and have played one more game than their relegation rivals http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/15/avram-grant-west-ham
LCFCmatt Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 If it does happen, it will be so unfair on avram. Lost 1 game out of seven and set to go to the cup final. Terrible timing
FoxyPV Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 5Live were saying that IF O'Neill does take it, it will be a six month, highly incentivised contract.
ousefox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Yeah i can't see any reason why he would want to stay there for any longer than until the end of the season...he could do soo much better.
Wymsey Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Maybe as his Wife is ill, he wants a job in football but only on a short contract to get more money.
MPH Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Maybe as his Wife is ill, he wants a job in football but only on a short contract to get more money. his wife , im sure i remember reading, has made a full recovery. He is clearly holding out for a top Job. I cant help but think he wants the England Job (again) too either way he wouldnt see himself at west ham for long when you consider both of those reasons...
Muzzy Izzn't Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 ahh Gold and Sully up to their old tricks again, feel sorry for Avram, he tried. O'Neill working under that regime of those two jokers and Brady? - Birmingham fans hate them after the state they left the club in, and Villa fans just hate them in general - I can't see it last since O'Neill likes cash to spent and is useless on a budget.
