Jeffrey Bruma joins Leicester City on loan

What happened to Gilbert? I thought he did well at City but after being released by The Arse he seems to have disappeared off the face of the footballing earth.

Was playing in the MLS last I heard. Not sure if he's still there

Maybe they are only highlights, but Bruma looks very good ! Looks like he could play anywhere.Has he figured much for our feeder side,Chelsea !?

Are we close to signing this guy yet? lots of speculation, but no pen to paper yet as far as I understand it. Really want it to happen, he could make the difference that Hobbs sadly can't at the moment.

Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma admits he was disappointed to miss out on a move to Leicester City.

Bruma admits he would have liked to have joined either Leicester or Swansea City last month.

"When I spoke with Carlo Ancelotti, he said I would stay at Chelsea," said Bruma. "But I want to play.

"It was good to speak to (Leicester boss) Mr Eriksson on the phone. Leicester and Swansea are clubs that want promotion to the Premier League and it remains the league which I prefer to play in the future."

This has just been posted, not sure what this means (if anything) for his potential move.....

Looks like he's not coming then.

Probably for the best, we don't really need 3 on loan centre backs + Bamba and Hobbs. It also means we can take someone else as an emergency loan in case of injuries.

Edit: I've just watched the Highlights up there, I'm going to be honest and say I wasn't impressed, he looks very comfortable on the ball but how many of his passes either went astray, gave the recipient a lot to do or played them in to a bad position. He also nearly played himself into trouble a couple of times. A poor man's Sol Bamba, probably not what we need alongside the mighty Sol.

It sounds like a mish mash of earlier articles as he was not allowed to go to West Brom earlier in the window as they did not have the cover. That is now not the case with recent signings. I imagine if we were ok to sign him last week there would not be any significant change today.

Sven has mentioned Hobbs going on loan, we know that.

Taking Bruma does not stop us taking another 10 players on emergency loan should we so choose.

But we can only have 5 loan players in the squad, which would be PVA, Naughton, Mee and Yakubu + 1 more. If we sign Bruma he will be in the squad, if not there is no point signing him. Imagine we get an injury to King or Wellens, I know it's not a nice thought, but it's possible. We don't really have someone in the squad to take there place. So get a quick emergency loan of Gerrard or Lampard in  then we are juggling around our loan players. It makes alot more sense to keep Hobbs, although his game time would be limited, because he is ours and train him up in the Sven way than send him out on loan and bring in another loanee.

As I understand it, its in your matchday selection, you can have as many as you want in the squad

Naughton, PVA & Yukubu are in, which leaves any 2 (if you're right about the 5 max) from Vitor, Bruma & Mee.

Kind of agree that, putting our allocation into practically the whole back-line does leave us without much cover in midfield, we do have Oakley who has been really good past couple of games, but its not the depth we need for the run-in should someone get injured.

Firstly Vitor is not classed as a loan so does not count towards the number of loans in the squad.

Secondly if we sign him then I think he will come in for Bamba at the back so he can go into the defensive midfield position instead of Abe who would drop to the bench. As Bamba can play both positions (some of the Hibs fans were saying midfield is his best position), this leaves us with cover in the midfield area.

Doubt it. Abe is playing really well in midfield. He's been a little tired of late but he's a good dependable midfielder. Can't see Bamba replacing him.

I don't get why people keep saying bamba will play defensive mid?!? Why would you change something that already works a treat! He's a centre back and thats where he'll play

Sven interview on Radio Leicester at around 6.10pm - SGE said Bruma deal will be sorted later tonight or tomorrow morning

Does anyone know if Bruma was playing for Holland U-21's on Wednesday night (I think PVA did) - if so, perhaps that explains why the deal hasn't been tied up by now (I don't know where Holland were playing - but it's likely to be at least a flight from East Mids Airport - and he would have been away for a couple of days before the game) ? I would guess then that he will 'jet in' for signing tomorrow (Friday).

Yeah I meant "matchday squad", not just "squad".

Vitor doesn't count cos he's a forrin, so neither would Uchechi.

The problem is not now, the problem is if we get an injury and need some cover, which is the whole point of the emergency loan system, and some clubs, Leicester included, tend to abuse it.

Say we do decide our best lineup is

Weale

Naughton, Bruma, Mee, PVA

Bamba

Wellens King

Dyer Gallagher

Yakubu

Then we get an injury to Wellens/King it would be better to replace with a like for like loan to keep the formation and not have to worry about the number of loan players we have rather than having to rejig the back four to accomodate the new loanee. Of course we have options, Berner for PVA, or Vitor in for Mee, Abe for Bruma and Bamba drops back, but it just seems unnecessary when we have Hobbs Vitor Bamba and Mee (+Tunchev) on the books to sign another on loan CB. We need midfield cover it is our strongest and peversely our weakest area.

Bruma and Van Aanholt were both in the squad. I don't know if they played. Holland were at home to the Czech Republic. The Czech's won 1-0.

Also, i'm hoping if PVA and Bruma do well at city, chelsea will be more inclined to send players to us on loan, which would be of great use to us especially IF we make it into the premiership. As although we have money, we don't really have that much so a couple of loan signings from chelski could help us out a lot e.g. Josh McEchran, Mancienne, kakuta.

Have we don´t an academy ourselves?
