georgialcfc Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 I heard on the 5:30 radio Leicester news yesterday an interview with Sven that the club had agreed to sign a player with his club but when Sven heard how much a week the player wanted he turned him down, He said he didnt even bother going to the board and ask if they could pay the amount he was asking. When asked by the reporter who it was Sven just replied "A big player". Meaning Big name. Now im thinking if they pay Yak 55 k a week then this player must be on atleast say 70-90 k a week so im thinking was it Michael owen ? Has anyone heard anything ?
phillthefox Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 stringer put the same on twitter but nobody knows who it is, like you say just "a big player" get ready for all the usual names !!!!! owen given santa cruz etc etc
bjblyth Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Does anyone really care? Look at the squad we have now and how we're playing. We don't need anyone else, no matter how 'big' their name is. Michael Owen wouldn't get in the squad, simples.
luckyalex13 Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Maybe it was Phil neville and he wanted £3.25 a week plus a bag of chips every staurday night? Sven quite rightly thought this was far to much!!!!
Zingari Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Now that Cameron has explained what the "Big Society" is , I reckon that whoever it was will come and play for nowt

For what it's worth I don't think it matters who this is but it's nice to see we're showing some integrity on the money front and not just going all guns blazing.
MrSpaM Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Whoever it was i think i'd feel a bit uncomfortable knowing we'd got a player who was on even more than Yakubu is, 50K is enough for any player playing in the championship.
Houdini Logic Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Now that Cameron has explained what the "Big Society" is , I reckon that whoever it was will come and play for nowt and sweep up outside the stadium afterwards

I agree but in fairness all the figures banded about for Yakubu are hear'say. Granted he's going to be earning a lot but the figures could be 10 or even 20k off what we're actually paying for all we know
blue blood Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 i think the point that is missed here is the owners are willing to pay wages in excess of £50,000 a week.
The Doctor Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 i think the point that is missed here is the owners are willing to pay wages in excess of £50,000 a week. not at all, big player was meant in a literal sense - the player in question is actually jobber, the wages demands being excessive of the ones his talent would command.
ajthefox Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 i think the point that is missed here is the owners are willing to pay wages in excess of £50,000 a week. That point isn't being missed it's moot As I literally just posted, no-one actually knows how much they are paying.
Darkon84 Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Clearly some greedy twat! Robbie 'I'm past it except in my own eyes' Keane
m00nie Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 i think the point that is missed here is the owners are willing to pay wages in excess of £50,000 a week. we dont know if they are. (all thought i guess they would).. sven refused to even take it to them once he found out how much they wanted.. as someone pointed out its good to see that even if we do have the funds available there not going to be spent for the sake of it..
Zingari Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Nikola Kigic is a big player. no , it must have been Barry Hayles
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Where do people get these figures of what Yakubu is on a week from? I've heard 20K, 40K, 55K, 60K.
Babylon Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Where do people get these figures of what Yakubu is on a week from? I've heard 20K, 40K, 55K, 60K. They make it up, or repeat what some reporter makes up. Nobody knows in reality.
StanSP Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 Robbie 'I'm past it except in my own eyes' Keane No. It'd be Robbie 'I supported Leicester as a kid' Keane.
