MPH Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 intresting comment on the mercury website connected with this article: My six year old son hero worships a number of Leicester City players. Whilst I have no sense on the intricacies of the private lives of the likes of Paul Gallagher (family man), Chris Weale (buddhist), Bruno Berner (all round Mr Nice Guy) I am happy to go along with the role model status that he chooses to give afford them, because I suspect that they are fundamentally decent people and quality atheletes. By this definition I am happy for him to look up to them. By contrast, Marlon King is a convictted criminal who clearly has no respect for women and has no qualms about subjecting them to physical abuse. How do I explain that to a boy who loves his mum and sister as well as Martyn Waghorn?

Finnegan Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 intresting comment on the mercury website connected with this article: Spot on.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 Teach him not to worship footballers, better for him in the long run anyway. Yes, totally agree. :appl:
MikeyT Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 Basically it seems the general consensus is, that not very many of us want him here. So yeah, end of.
alanf0x Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Was he in the crowd yesterday or something? Why would he be in the crowd yesterday, when coventry had a game???!!
Callabinho Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 You have to ask do we want success? do we want to stand a good chance of going up? However if we secure the services of Yak and kamara or a striker of equal ability, King wont be considered.
Corky Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Was he in the crowd yesterday or something? Some fans were just making it clear they don't want him at the club.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Marlon King IMO would be a good signing. Although I don't agree with what he has done in the past, he has served his sentence and if I got 20 odd goals to get us up next year, everybody would be applauding him anyway.
MPH Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Teach him not to worship footballers, better for him in the long run anyway. Having someone as a role model and worshipping them are different things...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I doubt Ian Marshall had any sex offences
stockyfox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 As a City fan for over 60 years, I would consider it totally inappropriate to even consider signing Marlon King. In the 50's and 60's, City was very much regarded as a 'family club'. Regretfully that perceived image declined somewhat but lately, and particularly so this season, there have been positive efforts from all sides to encourage a return to that image. Players quickly become role models, especially in the eyes of the younger fans and when those players go out into the community, each and everyone is a hero to those kids. When parents allow their children to be involved in varying activities with the players, they should expect to be able to do so and have complete trust in the integrity of the event, the organisers and participants. I for one have always taken great pride in being a Leicester City fan and as such, in the knowledge of Marlon King's previous history, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in inviting him to join Leicester. We have our standards and Marlon King has his. To my mind, he has blotted his copybook and a leopard cannot change its spots. I don't care if we had the promise of a hat-trick every game. I don't care if it was promised that with him, we would be assured of promotion. I would prefer us not to be promoted. There are other alternatives that may be considered. We don't have to grovel. I want us to win everything that's on offer but not at any price. The good name of the Club comes first, the rapport between the Club and the fans comes next and whatever the players achieve on the field comes after that. Leicester City is not just another Football Club, it's a way of life!

The Doctor Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 So according to that we're going to sign m.King and cov will replace him with deek? Why couldn't we just sign deek instead?
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I was very impressed by King at the Walkers this season, but he's not the sort of player we need to be signing if we're going to try and win promotion. He's had one good season in his career that he's piggy-backed off ever since. Factor in that he's a massive scumbag and this would be a very disappointing signing if it materialises.
Petchy Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I'm just disappointed because there are plenty of other strikers that could do a better job.
davieG Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Replacement for Howard I reckon. So occasionally getting a place on the bench, oh well could be worse.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 how much of a better job, and for free? Riordan, a guy who will actually make me cry if he goes to Cov.
