Jaspa Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Oh god nooooooooooohohoooooooooooo! Please don't Sven I hate this coont
He's not bald Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 He'll do nicely, knows where the net is and has a good engine, bring him in I say.
Guest ttfn Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Oh no. People might say, "I can't believe you're turning your nose up at Andy Johnson", but he has never been good. Never. He would be no better than what we already have.
lcfcsnow Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Oh no. People might say, "I can't believe you're turning your nose up at Andy Johnson", but he has never been good. Never. He would be no better than what we already have. Agreed, We are clearly desperate now. Why on earth have we not brought someone in from abroad? Our scouting system has failed big time we're just bidding for players in our own leagues that have done the business in the past, no research at all.
Jollie Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Did Sven give this mardy arsed c$%t his England debut too?

Our scouting system has failed big time we're just bidding for players in our own leagues that have done the business in the past, no research at all. Whats wrong with buying players who know what this league is about, players who have scored for fun in this league before? Bringing players in from abroad who have never played in England means it will take a while for them to settle down and perform to their best (if ever)
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Oh no. People might say, "I can't believe you're turning your nose up at Andy Johnson", but he has never been good. Never. He would be no better than what we already have. Penalty taker extraordinaire.
Dicko Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Great signing if this happens. Good finisher, would do very well at this level.
topharry123 Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Great signing if this happens. Good finisher, would do very well at this level. Agree. I think if we go up he'd need replacing unlike with the Yak and Maynard but would surely bang in a few goals at this level!
Libertine Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Golly. I'm only happy to have him if we get Maynard and just bring him in on loan. Otherwise, please no. Overrated.
LJS Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 He scored 74 goals in 140 games for Crystal Palace. More than a goal every two games. That statistic includes a season in the top flight. Of course he's good enough. I'd prefer Yakubu or Maynard (no preference between those two), but this wouldn't be a bad signing at all. Anyway, I suspect this might be an attempt to force Bristol City's hand. It makes no sense. If we don't get Maynard we would go for Yakubu for much less.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 This division is a lot stronger now than it was when Johnson was pinging them in with Palace.
Guest ttfn Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 This division is a lot stronger now than it was when Johnson was pinging them in with Palace. He's also much older, has spent most of the last 2 years injured and probably won't get to take penalties.
ajthefox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Would be a decent signing for most champ teams but he isn't the striker that will take us to the next level.

His goal record was excellent at Palace but since then it's been a touch mediocre, and let's face it, he's not likely to improve now is he?
