funkyrobot Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Aj and woodgate are injury liabilities. Steer well clear. Aj is also one of the most overrated strikers I've seen over the past decade.
cc_star Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 AJ's quite a strong physical player, injuries have taken their toll and the money being talked about is ridiculous... He's hardly prolific in comparison to our past targets like Yak & CMS
ealingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Never believe anything you read in the Daily Fail, I've had it up to here with that despicable paper.
FrankieADZ Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 rather not have either of them as there rather injury prone, as cc_star said AJ isnt prolific compared to other targets.....rather go back for proven than someone who hasnt really cut it.
MPH Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Someone who isn't a complete sicknote, perhaps? It'd be a complete waste of cash. As said, he has this reputation of being a half decent marksmen, and it's stemmed from his time at Palace, when they were in the Premier League. The majority of those (at least half) were penalties, as myself and ttfn have already pointed out. Apart from that, bar a small purple patch at Everton just after he'd signed for them, he's been nothing short of wank. Like some kind of footballing con-artist he's managed to retain some kind of value despite doing very little of note for a long, long time. God knows how he managed to pull on an England shirt. Granted he scored a few for Palace in the Championship, but this division is so, so much stronger now than it was then. He'll be on unjustifiable wages, too, it's a case of throwing away cash that could be used so much more effectively. Matt Derbyshire would be just as good and wouldn't cost half as much. That alright? no not really.... the same people who are wanting the Tunch to get a new contract dont want the likes of Josnson to get a new contract? Johnson played 29 games last season too... hardly a complete sicknote.. Missed a few games early in the season but was ever present for most of it..
Stevosevic Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Never believe anything you read in the Daily Fail, I've had it up to here with that despicable paper. Their football reporting however is usually reliable and is actually a good read.
tomtom Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Andy Johnson would score a hat full in this division, 40k a week is too much for us though and I don't think he'd join us over WBA anyway
cc_star Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I'm only hoping that the AJ story is a diversionary tactic aimed at both Bristol City and Maynard's agent in our negotiation process showing them we have other irons in the fire even if they're unconvincing ones... hopefully he signs for WBA and that's the end of it. It's been over 5 years since he last scored regularly and most of them were penalties. Injury prone and those wages mentioned are ridiculous. Also as a 30 year old your not really going to be able to sell him for money either. If this money is available I'd much prefer for it to be placed on Bristol City's table
Liamlcfc1 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Fourth_Official Fourth OfficialJonathan Woodgate the next shock in at Brighton? #BHAFC
80footgiraffe Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 No way, really sure he won't stoop down basically two tiers.
FrankieADZ Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 well there certainly flexing there muscles if its true....his wages will be sky high and his lack of fitness would worry me.
Guest shearfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 well there certainly flexing there muscles if its true....his wages will be sky high and his lack of fitness would worry me. Well they might as well burn money...
STUHILL Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If Woodgate can stay fit for more than 10 games then I will eat my shoes!
dannythefox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 There welcome to him a fully fit woodgate is a world beater but he wont say fit for long
FrankieADZ Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If Woodgate can stay fit for more than 10 games then I will eat my shoes! i'll keep you to that ::
Marmite Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Woodgate wont stay fit he is fvcked, its about time he retired
Sly Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 On his day, when fit Woodgate was obe of the best centre backs in the country, if not the best. Unfortunately for him is career ground to a halt with persistent injuries. Solve those and you have a gem of a player on your hands.
Happy Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=75724 Not 100% if this qualifies as ITK as I'm not entirely sure if Woodgate is still at the club or not (rumours of a pay-as-you-play contract?), but anyway: Woodgate was shown round the Amex Stadium today by Gus Poyet and Tony Bloom. I'm lucky enough to work about two minutes from the new stadium so I went and asked a couple of people who work there, and it seems like it's true.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Stoke are lining up central defender Jonathan Woodgate after he rejected a pay-as-you-play deal to re-sign with Tottenham. Source: BBC Transfer Gossip If its not a pay as you play deal he wants, then I don't want him here anyway, doubt he'll start too many games, and will want big wages.
MC Prussian Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 And I got laughed at for suggesting a pay-as-you-play deal for Woodgate. EDIT: I should be working for Stoke City... not!
