Bert Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Not heard anything on this so far, of course it could be an option. Could just be bad journalism putting an old story together when they know we're in for a striker.
jonthefox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 He's their joint top scorer How many have they scored again.
thybluefox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 can't believe people would be unhappy with this! I wouldn't be unhappy with him, just would prefer Maynard or Yakubu.
okie fox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 He's their joint top scorer Dempsey is top scorer in league with 1. Johnson 's goals are against RNK Split, Crusaders, and NSI Runavik.
Dicko Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Why would this "put pressure on Bristol City to sell Maynard" exactly? Bristol have made it clear they'd like to keep Maynard, and don't particularly want to sell to us. They'd be chuffed if we signed someone else. People read way too much into things. Sometimes a bid, failed or otherwise, is just a bid.
Tuna Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 He's too old and injury prone and too much a similar striker to Nugent. Why are we obsessed with signing ****ing midgets? Fulham payed an obscene 11.75 million for this slaphead and I'm sure we'd need to pay at least 3 million for him. Not worth it in my book. His injury record in recent seasons would suggest this is too big a risk.
Brainy Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Dempsey is top scorer in league with 1. Johnson 's goals are against RNK Split, Crusaders, and NSI Runavik. Youd have a point if he wasnt scoring against RNK Split, Crusaders, and NSI Runavik.
brockmyster Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 You implied Maynard is injury prone. He isn't. I was referring to the fact that he had a big knee problem last year and i seem to remember at crewe he had a few problems
Hack Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 If thats the case then the most likely plan of action from LCFC is that we have put a derisory bid in for Johnson, bristol then think we have lost interest and therefore are losing out on £6m, fulham reject our bid and bcfc accept ours as they know we are the only team deadly serious about NM, then on Wednesday we see NM with a big grin on his face holding up an LCFC shirt on the OS and consequently running out against Barnsley in 12 days time Hopefully (clutches at straws) Or We get Johnson for something in the order of 2 mil and Fulham who don't have a lot of players up front go and get Maynard for 5mil. Hasn't Johnson played for Fulham in this season? How can a guy getting picked to play premier league football not be good enough to play in the championship! I just dont get some of our fans.
1994fox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 TransferHawkEye Transfer Hawk Eye Johnson bid is genuine. #lcfc changed target. Dont expect Nicky in a #lcfc shirt. unless they hit reality and negotiate like normal humans.
Kitchandro Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Would be a poor signing in comparison to what we could have had. Very average, no better than Nugent or Vassell.
DC1010 Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 We have bid £4 million, too much for a 30 year old injury prone striker that hasn't had a good season for a couple of years. Looks like svens getting desperate. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2031539/Leicester-want-sign-Andy-Johnson-Fulham.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

I think he'd be pretty handy for us but 4m for a 30 year old nearing the end of his career is too much....unless his name starts with a Y and ends in akubu!
iancognito Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Andy Johnson would do but he'd be well down the list of names already mentioned. That said, Kevin Phillips is still doing the business in this league so why not Johnson too?

Sven has had a shocker.
Stevosevic Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Sven, i haven't said a bad word against you yet and obviously these reports may not be true BUT just pay the money for NM for f**ksake, Johnson is not the solution to our problems, Would much rather develop the Nugent/Vassell partnership.
Jaspa Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Maybe it will be to look back on and say 'Well I know Nicky was expensive, but he's definatly worth two mil more than than that diving baldy'
kingfox Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 I think he wouldn't be a bad signing, could be worse but then again could be a whole lot better. Main thing is he is coming back to form, bad thing is he is too injury prone. 4 million though, paper talk is often rubbish but if it is £4 million were definitely had a shocker, not worth £4 million anymore 2.5 million maybe but definitely not 4.
Carlos9 Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Its not too bad for one season in the Championship. He would 100% get 20+ goals but would be a waste of money if we dont go up. I thought this Maynard bid was in?
Bagworthblue Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 48 hours to go, bids need to be in on a few options to ensure A move goes through - Imagine this is hedge betting
toms Posted 29 August 2011 Posted 29 August 2011 Its not too bad for the championship for a season, would 100% get 20+ goals but would be a waste of money if we dont go up. I thought this Maynard bid was in? 66 games 10 goals for Fulham = 1 goal in every 6 games (Thats shite in anybodys book)....And we are gonna pay 4 million WTF
