Bezzanator89 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Why dont QPR just **** off, they seem to be linked with every player on earth, and more so, the ones we are rumoured to be after As much as I'd love QPR to get off our backs and stop trying to hijack our deals, I'm sure we'd do the same if it was the other way round. Plus QPR finished top and have money to spend so they think they can boss the transfer market, can they f***! If CMS for example has said no to them, then that does not bode well for them.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Woodgate Has everyone forgotten about this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/1701493.stm No thanks!!! Everyone makes mistakes and that was over 10 years ago! Didn't stop Newcastle, Real Madrid or Spurs paying good money for him... ... still don't want him at Leicester but for the reason of high wages for a player who spends 3/4 of every season on the physio table.
MikeyT Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Woodgate Has everyone forgotten about this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/1701493.stm No thanks!!! It's getting to the point now where there will be no footballers left with a clean criminal record, so screw it.
lookwhaticando Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 Jonathan Woodgate suffered a torrid Real Madrid debut, scoring a spectacular own goal and then being sent off against Athletic Bilbao. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/4273704.stm This is my favourite Woodgate story.

wattolcfc Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Don't know what to make of it, Woodgate and Mills would be a formidable partnership BUT if Woodgate is in and out of injury all season then it will mean another season with a changing defence every other game which as we saw this season.. is no good! Trust Sven :sge:
MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Only a couple of months ago, we could only dream of being linked with names like Johnson or Woodgate. Regardless of Woodgate's personal issues on and off the pitch, he deserves a chance. Maybe a pay-as-you-play contract could ease the doubters' pain? I just wonder what it is with this "groin injury" of his, no one has ever been really able to determine what he's really suffering from...

Jonathan Woodgate when fit (operitive word) is still a very high class defender. He is not going to play for pay as you play as you put it. If the club deem is fitness level is that of any other player we are looking to bring in and negotiate terms acceptible to the club Then that is it. Why do people act as if they are the Manager or club recruitment manager and suggest ridiculous methods of payment. By all mean s if you don't like a player say, if you do also, but all this I would pay this, it will send the club broke. How would you know and how many player contracts other than in Football manager have you done!!

I've never said I didn't like Woodgate, in fact I think I stated quite clearly that everyone deserves a second chance. But given his injury record, you have to ask yourself whether one can afford it paying him the regular way. Besides, I don't think pay-as-you-play such a ridiculous idea - even with the odd apparition here and there, players on such a contract earn probably more per game than what others get in a month.

Your right you didn't say he is a poor player and my comments about your comments didn't imply that. Just I felt we have professional people to make the assement on such matters of playing fitness and the cost to the club. I think it is great that forums like this give fans a chance to communicate about all matters of their club. But I fined myself a little frustrated at all the pseudo management elements related to the prospective transfers we are talking about. Like how is to much to pay for a player when none of us know what our owners are really worth and what their plans really are or what we should pay for wages. Most of this Paranoia comes from our recent poor financial past. I get it. But the fans need to move on and look forward to this new sucure future.
STUHILL Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 I wouldn't be against signing Andy Johnson but it would be only if we don't sign our other targets first, such as Nugent, Maynard and CMS. Not really interested in Jonathon Woodgate! The guy is guaranteed to hardly ever be fit enough to play and just when you think he is ok and has established a good partnership at the back, he will go and get injured again and be out for months. Would be too frustrating and he would only ever be a quick fix at the back for us and so not worth the headache IMO.

Totally agree, everyone knows what the inconsistancy at the back did to us last season.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Im sorry.. but we are Leicester City.... who are you actually expecting us to sign if Andy Johnson isn't good enough? Someone who isn't a complete sicknote, perhaps? It'd be a complete waste of cash. As said, he has this reputation of being a half decent marksmen, and it's stemmed from his time at Palace, when they were in the Premier League. The majority of those (at least half) were penalties, as myself and ttfn have already pointed out. Apart from that, bar a small purple patch at Everton just after he'd signed for them, he's been nothing short of wank. Like some kind of footballing con-artist he's managed to retain some kind of value despite doing very little of note for a long, long time. God knows how he managed to pull on an England shirt. Granted he scored a few for Palace in the Championship, but this division is so, so much stronger now than it was then. He'll be on unjustifiable wages, too, it's a case of throwing away cash that could be used so much more effectively. Matt Derbyshire would be just as good and wouldn't cost half as much. That alright?
dannythefox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Linked in Express and Star today for Woodgate. And the sun!

Roy Hodgson is a long-term admirer of the former England striker and Johnson relished the time he spent working with West Brom’s manager at Fulham. The 30-year-old cost Fulham more than £10.5m when he joined from Everton in August 2008 but Albion would be hoping to sign him for a knockdown fee, as he only has 12 months on his contract left. The chance to work with Hodgson again, though, is likely to prove decisive. West Brom are also hopeful of bringing free agent David Vaughan to the Hawthorns from Blackpool.
