The Doctor Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Stoke don't like us either http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/232700?page=1 Yeah, but stoke are a bunch of classless, knuckle-dragging retards - their opinions are worth about as much as a torn-up Zimbabwean dollar. 4
Yojoe36 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 8 seasons in the Premier League, 1 Fa Cup final and a decent run in the Europa league. Might not have been the prettiest football under Pulis but least they weren't in relegation fights every season like Wigan who apparently played attractive football. That FA cup final was their 3rd ever FA/League cup final in their history The joys of being a Stoke fan.

Richard Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Schmeichel, Morgan and Drinkwater aren't our players? I assume it means Championship fantasy team of the year
C-man Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 How about points over 46 games? Leicester Leicester come up to the Premiership after winning the Championship last season, yet they remain a bit of an enigma to me. They may have won the Championship, but they didn’t dominate any statistical category other than shots per game and shots on target. 3

bluesbrothers Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 (edited) I was quite taken aback by the hostility of some of those knuckle-dragging mouthbreathers on the Stoke forum. I respect their team for how it's established itself in the PL, but jesus christ, the way they're going on, you'd think they were a regular Champions League fixture. I doubt any of us are in question of how much of a challenge next season is going to be - it's the biggest test we've faced in a decade. But for them to think we're somehow arrogant for believing that this team is better than at least a handful of PL sides is ridiculous. For me, the litmus test was Fulham in the cup last year. Don't get me wrong, they were a farce last year, but nonetheless they fielded a pretty-much full strength squad, and we edged it. Beating PL strugglers is what we need to do to gain a foothold in the league. It's adorable that they actually believe the performance we put in against them in the cup was comparable to the standard we set last season. Apart from Brighton at home, it was our worst of the season, and we were still only edged out 2-1 by a Stoke side with a decent number of first-teamers in the line-up. Between that and Fulham, I've every confidence that we can hold our own, at least against the bottom half. Stoke are a good side, I won't deny it. They're a decent shout for a top half finish. But it's incredible to see the "big boy" mentality seeping into them, given it feels like yesterday that the Britannia saw their golden era begin, and our lowest ebb. Finishing above them would bring things full circle - wouldn't that be nice? It'll be tough, but I hope for the sake of karma that it happens. Piss off, Stoke. Edited 30 July 2014 by bluesbrothers
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Embarrassing how deluded some Premier League fans have became. I remember when we played City last season, in the League Cup, and a lad next to me (probably around 21) in the bar barely knew 5 of our players. The fact is that many Premier League fans who come to our ground next season will be the exact same, just like most of them didn't know who Ricky Lambert, Jay Rodriquez or Adam Llanna were 2/3 years ago. Yes we may go straight back down, but whatever happens I think we'll make our mark on the league next season and get fans talking about us for right reasons. yeah cause that worked for Blackpool

Aside from that, wasn't Drinkwater one of the highest passers also?
David Guiza Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 yeah cause that worked for Blackpool As far as I'm aware our owners won't be pocketing millions to place back into their estate agent business/bank roll the ex-con of a father though. Slightly different situations.
benpicko Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 The only stat that matters. Aside from that, wasn't Drinkwater one of the highest passers also? I thought the stat was that he'd made like 600 more passes than anybody else or something insane like that? Actually here's a thread on it: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/94612-drinkwater-passing-stats
Stadt Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Wasn't it only a few weeks ago where most fans were saying we'd do alright? It's almost as if Ulloa has turned us shit
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Wasn't it only a few weeks ago where most fans were saying we'd do alright? It's almost as if Ulloa has turned us shit In fairness if I was looking in without ties to Leicester and seen we just spend 8 mill on Leo Ulloa then I might think the same . Relegation looks like a tough one to properly call this year
benpicko Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Wasn't it only a few weeks ago where most fans were saying we'd do alright? It's almost as if Ulloa has turned us shit A lot of people seem to just be looking at our players with previous premiership experience and writing us off because none of them have really lit the league up recently, regardless of whether or not they're likely to actually be in our starting eleven

I dunno whether it's the lack/quality of signings but there seems to be a lot of people not thinking much of us recently. I read one article (I'll see if I can find it) that had us nailed on for 20th. Dunno if it's been posted already or not.
lgfualol Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 How come some on the Man City forum thought Burnley would survive but not us? Weird
Popular Post Babylon Posted 30 July 2014 Popular Post Posted 30 July 2014 (edited) How come some on the Man City forum thought Burnley would survive but not us? Weird Because they haven't watched the championship for the last 8 years. I think it's quite simple why we keep being plucked for 20th by premier league "fans" and I use that term loosely. QPR are a London club and have happy Harry in charge, the man of the people. They have seen them throw the GDP of a small country at survival and promotion regularly and expect them to do so again. Burnley are the small fry underdogs, the team people hope do well, seen as gritty and spirited and are there without throwing "many pound notes". We fall in between we're not seen as a bit glam like QPR signing rickety Rio and his shitty baseball caps. And we aren't the tiddlers who everyone wants to stick it to the man. We're probably still seen as boring, defensive, long ballers (a tag that has stick for the last 20 years) with a boring functional manager. They look at people like Konch and Nugent who seem to have fallen in the Heskey type area of ridicule. (Even though they aren't bad players.) and write us off... ignoring the dozens of "flops" at the other promoted clubs. I'm happy for us to fly under the radar like we did last year. ScouseFox Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 i bet the whole premier league still thinks we're good at set pieces, too
yorkie1999 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 How come foxestalk must be the only football forum in the universe to have a thread about what other fans think of us. Is it an insecurity thing?

Oxfordfox83 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 How come foxestalk must be the only football forum in the universe to have a thread about what other fans think of us. Is it an insecurity thing? Since the Stoke link is from a thread entitled "Leicester fans predictions" and basically scrapes a thread from this site, I'd say we're not the only ones in the universe. I would imagine every club has a similar thread, because it's interesting to see yourself through the eyes of other football fans. I'm not insecure enough to check though...
lgfualol Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Stoke don't like us either http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/232700?page=1 Just read through there, that mumf really loves a good bitch. Most of us put Stoke as top 10, not bad for a team everyone makes fun of for being so unglamourous and violent.
Babylon Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Why do they take the opinion of about 10 people and think that's the opinion of all Leicester fans?
C-man Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 (edited) Dear God that Stoke forum. Hope they are still reading because I can't wait to finish above the cretinous fvckers this season. The irony of them claiming we have ideas above our station when they are perhaps the most irrelevant side in the Prem makes me laugh. Everything about us screams better than them. Our players, our manager, our fans, our hools, our stadium (new and old; the Garry Parker Ground was the only old school ground that I was happy got levelled), our City, our train station, our boozers, our kit, our owners (fvck off Bet365 you robbing bstards), our style of play etc etc I could go on.
