Callabinho Posted 6 July 2011 Author Posted 6 July 2011 They seem quite confident despite the fact they haven't had a bid accepted They will feel confident that they can out bid us at the end, but Sven wants this transfer to happen!
Dicko Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Not sure how people would feel about this, but if Wolves did sign Matt Mills, then how about City putting in a cheeky bid for Stearman? I'm not usually a fan of going after ex-players, but Stearman left here on decent terms, is still a reasonable age, will have improved as a player since he left (2 years's Premiership experience and also experience of promotion from the Championship) and could be open to the move, as I doubt another Prem club will go in for him.
hackneyfox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 If we miss out on Mills then thus far every major big money signing we have tried to bring in will have failed thus far wonder if the bookies would still make us favourites at present CMS Who we may have snubbed or not Mills Who else?
ithuriel Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 CMS Who we may have snubbed or not Mills Who else? maynard, yakubu

Did he? I remember the badge kissing and crocodile tears just shortly before he frigged off to The Wolverines and declared his lifelong support blah blah blah
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Did he? I remember the badge kissing and crocodile tears just shortly before he frigged off to The Wolverines and declared his lifelong support blah blah blah Don't rate him anyway, looks as solid as bambi on ice! Defo take Mee over Stearman any day!

Not for me thanks. Never look back. It only ends in disappointment.
chili_con_carne Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 i think people are slightly overexaggerating with this potential signing. He has performed well under brian mcdermott who is a great motivator and man manager. Players perform better under different guidance. It may not be the same story at leicester under sven. A lot of the reading players played well at reading last season. I think mcdermott deserves a lot of credit for this
tomtom Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Regarding stearman, I occasionally go to watch wolves as my dads a fan,...honestly he really isn't the answer, I've been shocked at how poor he's become and he isn't comfortable on the ball (like hobbs) if he was any good wolves wouldn't be after mills,..all be it he was mainly played at full back when I've seen him
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I reckon Bolton might be the danger here. I expect them to need a centre half as there are strong rumours that Cahill will be off and I would dare say they are a more attractive prospect than both Wolves and Stoke (and us of course).
Dan Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 What the fvck at the Wolves article. It says they're in pole position, despite the fact Leicester have agreed a fee and that they're hoping to go and match it NEXT WEEK? Bloody hell.

Comes accross arrogant as hell, almost like the minute their bid is accepted he would sign immediately. We should offer him a good deal and stress the fact we have a long term plan to stay in the prem, not so sure Wolves can even guarantee him prem football after next season.

They're absolutely clueless, it's arrogant and it's plain stupid, who's to say he won't agree a deal with Leicester before they've even matched our bid?

Must admit I haven't seen him play for a while other than noticing him occasionally on MOTD, I only really thought of him when thinking of who Wolves might get rid of if Mills signs. I'll stick that in the "bad ideas" pile... There are reports in the West Mids that Wolves have gone in for Liam Ridgewell of Birmingham and are battling with West Brom for him for around £3mil, so it may not be certain that they'll match our offer for Mills. Given that Stoke are also pursuing Brown/Evans from Man Utd and apparently Jon Woodgate, then if our offer has been accepted then we could force this move through while others are stalling. Still dont think that we'll get Mills, but would be absolutely delighted to be proved wrong.
ithuriel Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I'm hoping we get Mills, then we need a striker and maybe Mee and we should be decent enough with perhaps a pacey winger an extra option.
Dan Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Here is him donning the new reading kit http://yfrog.com/h8m399j I think he'd leave just to get out of that kit, absolutely horrendous.
cc_star Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Just hope we've not just stuck the bid in & then not speak to him for 10 days like seemed to happen elsewhere, although the mitigating circumstances for that say we didn't want him anyway
Fox 4 Life Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Apparently Dann is set for talks with Stoke so thats one less admirer. Us and Wolves - surely any player can see there isn't much in it long term, hopefully we just pay more and jobs a goodun!

Dan Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Probably means Birmingham will then want Mills. Good shout tbh. IMO, I feel we can get him over them.
jock2612 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 As i said although Mills would be a great deal i think Wolves are almost certain up their bid and can offer Prem football, that leaves us with Tunch, who may not be fit,Sol and SSL.Pearson has stated that LCFC are slow in the Transfer market confirmed by PBoro Chairman.I dont want work to Wolves timetable and wait for a refusal form Mills and miss out players with potential like Mee . We also need cover at RB as Pel is untried at this level.

Fox 4 Life Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 How is that arrogant, I said wolves can't guarantee him prem football, just as we can't now, but are working towards it. My point with that article was they are assuming he would come to them over us even before a bid had been accepted....
