Tottenham and other disturbances / riots

You give them too much credit El, this was surely a case of incompetence and an unwilling to come back from holiday?

I hope it was just a case of incompetence, but I always think that there is a group in the shadows manipulating events to their benefit, so I'm not so sure!

That kid having a go at the white Mayor of London was 100% correct.

*fixed*

That would have been brilliant, had it not been 3 hours after the original post.

I am currently working through the thread - you'll just have to pretend.

I dont know if its been said before in the 70 plus pages of this topic, but the restraint shown by the dad of one of those lads mown down was very impressive.

Those who sought to allocate blame along racial lines would have made capital from a different response or no response.

That man, even in his grief, appealed for calm.

Well played him.

I was bowled over by his speech first thing where he kept breaking down. Simply incredible.

'Step forward if you want to lose your son... otherwise calm down and go home'

What an absolute credit that man is to humanity, to be able to come out like that the day after that's happened to his family in an effort to save more people.

World would be a far better place with more people like him.

That video is heart-wrenching.

The best that can come of any of this is that the Government see how insane it'll be to cut the police funding by 20%. This has been a powder keg waiting to go off and people have actually lost their lives, its madness.

I hope when considering the cuts again the Government also take into consideration the back room intelligence officers who poured over information day and night and identified vulnerable areas of cities that needed physically policing, because only months ago they were ALL offered voluntary redundancies.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a police officer was complaining that they were told to hold and show restraint. Can't remember where it was but I'll have a look for it.

Wouldn't be suprised to hear them complain, they should have been allowed to get straight in there as soon as buildings were getting smashed.

I'm not sure how badly the police were outnumbered in some cases, but on some of the clips I've seen I think they had enough boots and batons to bring some order if they had been allowed!

I was watching the news last night and I've never heard anything like it in my life. Some right tramp family, mum and three kids where outside a store that had been smashed-looted etc and they were being interviewed. The mum was saying it was okay what her sons where doing because there is nothing for them to do in there community. When the shop keeper said something about, what so its ok to rob other peoples property? The youngest lad said something like, shut up mate he's interviewing us, not you. Then the mum said to the bloke, have you got kids? He replied is it ok to rob peoples property, which the mum replied have you got kids?

We'd mentioned her before - she was a right price of society. Sadly, there are a lot more like her!

Leicester's contribution

So that's what supporters of the Palestinian cause have been doing wrong all these years.

Peaceful and dignified protests, petitions, boycotts and television appeals are all useless in the face of attempted looting.

Smash the Zionist machine? The thick cunt can't even smash a window.

Horrible horrible little clueless *****!

What he's saying about the British Army, Israel and Palestine?

Can best be summarised by saying 'herp derp.'

Basically we shouldn't be helping the Libyan people, or have imaginary troops in Egypt, we should be pouring everything into invading Israel to help the Palestinians.

Somehow smashing up Cruise and Currys Digital in Leicester will radically change British foreign policy in his 'mind.'
