Guest Col city fan Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 When I predicted 3-0 I actually meant to City! No width, no pace until Lloyd Dyer was introduced Having been brought up under Little and MON, I felt ashamed to be a City fan today. And You'd have to go far to see a worst first half attacking performance than Beckfords. When they went three in front our heads dropped alarmingly and our players knew we were well and truly beaten. Anyway, as usual cue the excuses.. There should be some classics this week..
tickler28 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Despite what appears like a good run for the team have we always played well. We were shit against the brum, shit second half Wednesday, shit today, poor away at Barnsley, boro and Cardiff and lucky to win against Southampton at home ( weren't we poor second half then to?). Look I'm not keen on getting rid of managers but with the money we've got and calibre of players we've brought in it's not good enough. Surely a priority for the thai owners us for us to at least play attractive football?? I wouldn't mind if we were where we are in the league from ad luck or risking players forward and getting caught on the break but we're not. We're where we are in the league because it's where we deserve to be and if we don 't sort it out soon, it's where we'll finish. Dreading West Ham game.....take cover
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Why the hell do people bang on about wingers? Lots of the best teams in Europe play without out and out wingers. Wingers are not the be-all and end-all answer to our problems.
Tuna Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Sven really has got to go now, he's been with us for a year and we have turned over many players on good money bought for millions of pounds in transfer fees and loan fees and over that year we are in no better position. Sven is not cut out for this level, his team selections are baffling, he has shown the tactical nous of a novice rather than the grandmaster he is perceived to be. The players we have are experienced, international, quality players but its down to how they are instructed and managed and it is clearly not working. Blame has to be put at the manager's door and i cannot see him surviving much longer. We have lost to a poor team, humiliatingly at home, a team who have not won for months who havent scored away from home for months. Sven is a nice man, a gentleman, but there has to be a time when we admit it is not working, and it will not work. If sven goes now, maybe we might salvage 6th place. Automatic promotion is now unrealistic.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Haven't listened to a game on Radio Leicester since I had Leicester City world in the 07/08 season. It sounded the same today as it always did all those years ago. Whenever we go a goal down, we never seem to fight back. (Although we did recover away to Barnsley). If we go a goal down the next week. against West Ham I can guarantee that we will lose that game. Why is it? Do we just lose all our self belief or does Sven not have what it takes to think on his feet when things go against us? (I'm not a Sven basher by any means). Our only hope for next week is that West Ham are right up there so we may actually turn up. Here's hoping. God it''s so bloody frustrating being a Leicester fan!
Guest shearfox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Today was terrible, no desire what so ever, we just didn't have a clue going forward. Millwall were poor and that just tells you how bad we were....

Wingers are not the be-all and end-all answer to our problems. When the midfield gets congested, you need width to open up play, and if every man and his dog can see this why the fvck can't Sven
somebum Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Mountebank Sven, Sweden's greatest PR man, was exposed as a fraud today by a very poor Millwall side but the point I wish to make is the same point that I am constantly bringing up here and that is that Sven cannot motivate his players to perform consistently which means winning against the poorer opposition. I have said many times to the idiots on here who come on bragging after wins against Derby and Watford saying things like 'SACK SVEN? NEVER IN DOUBT FOR ME' and 'TO ALL THE DOUBTERS, FCUK YOU!' that promotions and championships are not won against teams like Derby and Watford, but it's when we beat the lowly teams and scrape results, like Pearson used to, that we will be in with a chance. Forget this EVER happening under Sven, he is too placid, lacks motivational ability, lacks tactical awareness et all. I don't know why people are so surprised about this. Check Sven's record for crying out loud. Time and time again the same things are said; he won a bit in Italy after spending HUNDREDS of millions on players and that was it. Wake up.

Not sure we are up there with the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal of old yet. Just a thought.
Father Ted Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Just got back and absolutely fuming. The worst performance that I have seen since Burnley away last year or perhaps pushing it a bit - the 5-1 Forest match. I've got so much to say so here goes: The midfield is the problem. Today's match: In a diamond you are meant to have a defensive midfielder (Johnson - did his job well), an attacking midfielder (King - done fcuk all), a right sided midfielder (Abe - done well) and a left sided midfielder (Wellens - cost us two goals). The point of the two 'sided' midfielders is to cover the full-backs when they push up. Can somebody enlighten me as to where Millwall's first two goals came from? Down the left side when Konchesky was exposed. Can somebody also tell me who supported Konchesky when he pushed up? Nobody. Wellens is useless and the diamond didn't/doesn't work one bit with him in the side. It worked perfectly against Derby without him so why did he have to come back in? Generally: We have 6 centre midfielders. If we get up to the Premiership, which is our target that midfield will be nowhere near good enough to compete. Danns will be a complete write-off. King is too ineffective, I would sell as soon as possible. Wellens slows the play down too much and there is a reason why he's not played in the Premiership yet. We then have Abe, Fernandes and Johnson. I feel that Johnson would comfortably slot in and would be the ONLY one good enough to start in our midfield should we go up. Abe and Fernandes - if utilised tactically in the right manner by a tactically able manager would be effective bit part players. We must get rid of two in January and sign at least one player. Another point that I picked up on today was about St.Ledger. On the way home, Alan Young said he would give man of the match to Sean St.Ledger (shows how much he knows about football). I thought he was woeful. People moaned about Mills when he first joined but positionally Mills is very sound whereas St.Ledger is some sort of a headless chicken when it comes to tracking his man. He might be able to play well in a unit but if people get him one on one then he's shocking - Alan Hansen would have a field day talking about him. Bring Tunchev back. Our attitude from the start was also disgusting. We carried on from where we started at half time against Watford. Slow on the ball, no urgency whatsoever. No intentions to score at all. Boring. Another gripe I've got is Sven has no plan B but everybody knows this already. Vassell annoys me, what kind of 'striker' has a goalscoring record that he has? Get rid completely and put Schlupp on the bench or in the team. Sven has brought all of this on himself. Some very able players who are not even making it into the squad which will only lead to unrest in the squad. Losing in this manner isn't necessarily a bad thing as now we will have to pick up against West Ham. Getting hammered also highlights the weaknesses and they were really badly exposed today, and a good manager would work on fixing these problems, unfortunately ours isn't very good. Against West Ham I would go for a basic 4-4-****ing-2: Schmeichel Peltier - Bamba - Tunchev - KoncheskyGallagher - Johnson - Fernandes - DyerNugent - Schlupp Subs: Pantsil, Abe, Howard, Beckford, Moussa.

Automatic promotion is now unrealistic. Absolute tosh, basically you read the mirror and sun back when Sven was manager of England and you still think he's crap, ignore the fact that he had the best England record since 66, jump on the anti-foreigner bandwagon and get him out, your views are not your own and to be fair if you can't see what Sven and the owners are doing with our club your blind, it's not about this week, one or two bad results, it doesn't matter if we lose next week as well, there is a long term aim of getting us to the premier league and to create a team that will go up and stay up. 90% of city players wouldn't be there if it wasn’t for the lure of playing under one of the great managers, which Sven undoubtedly is. in :sge: we trust
Matt Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I always laugh at the 'The worst i've ever seen us play' comments, however, that was like watching us 4 or 5 years back struggling, fighting against a relegation battle, it was the worst i've seen us play for a few years put it that way. Oh well, we might have a chance against West Ham next week, seeing as they are near the top of the league, we seem to 'turn up' for the games against the 'better' teams and just expect to roll the 'lower' teams over without having to turn up...Oh god! Deja Vu, I remember saying that week after week about 4 or 5 years ago.

Didn't realise you got less points against derby and watford than against other championship sides? **** it I'm just going to say it Pearson’s championship season was not a true reflection of the quality in the side, and winning L1 with the side we had isn’t much of an achievement. They where on a huge high after winning league 1, just as most other teams who get promoted into the champ finish top 6. It’s basically because they are a team who are used to each other and are used to winning, this takes time to build, svens quality will shine through just wait, we are like man city in this way; the players we have just need time to gel, one week it works the other it doesn't, consistency will start soon and when it does we'll be superb and in a good strong position for when we do go up.
Mack Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I've stuck up for Sven of late and called for patience. I have to say on the back of the performances against Birmingham, Watford and now Millwall I can no longer support Sven in charge. It's time to move on and quickly in my opinion.
Fox1651 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I don't think any other manager would still have a job by Monday This Piss poor tactically from Sven, were inept and show no passion with him at the helm so SVEN OUT PLEASE!!!
broughtonblue Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I'm speechless and bereft of words to describe today's level of ineptitude. Agreed, but not just today. There seems no pride in a lot of the players, no imagination in the team and in some cases a complete lack of effort.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Said it after the Brum game and say it again now... There would not be the patience on here for any other manager.. If we were under Davies, Megson, Dowie etc etc the performance we put in today would render this forum unanimous in their desire for the manager to be sacked The Sven bumming just confuses the hell out of me.. I really don't get it
EnderbyFox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Woeful performance, no urgency what so ever. We came out in the second half like we where 2-0 up not 2-0 down King, Wellens, Beckford all useless today. Losing in that manor to a team that hadn't one in 10 games previous is shocking. We could have played till next Saturday and we wouldn't have scored. Sort it out Sven
Corky Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Thoroughly depressing afternoon, a complete shambles of a performance. We created very little (one meaningful save and hit the bar) and Millwall were so comfortable in closing us out, whilst using the ball far better. They were deserved winners. Konchesky had a decent game and sent in a couple of inviting crosses, the central defence were bullied and pushed around while Peltier got forward well but delivery was poor. However, he wasn't helped by Abe who was shocking. The whole midfield was woeful, King was mis-controlling it and hardly threatened, Johnson looked laborious going forward, Abe barely touched the ball and Wellens' delivery was crap and passing not much better. Up front Beckford was terrible, and a careless touch set Millwall away for their second, and Nugent tried and looked our biggest threat, but to no avail. Dyer's introduction gave us a bit of life and pace. I have serious doubts about our credentials. A win today wouldn't have increased them by a huge amount but we should have enough to at least compete. Is it the players? The tactics? The opposition better than us? Whatever it s it needs to be addressed soon because we're going to be left behind, and with no excuses. The owners have every right to question what's going on, they've put the money up and want , and deserve, far more from their investment. Abysmal.
EnglishOxide Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Right. Listen. Those who want Sven gone. Look at what happened to Holloway when you hounded him out. He got Blackpool promoted and they had a cracking season. Those that were happy to see Gradel go. Look at how well he is doing. The point is, invest your faith in the players and management for the season. Or at least half of it. Beckford shit? Yes, he's not playing well but he is as good as any other championship striker. Look at the goals he has scored, give him a chance. Sven? Look at his record. Back him. We've wasted money? Who **** hasn't? Chelsea have blown hundreds of millions in pursuit of the Champions League and it hasn't happened. Were you expecting us to actually buy the league? And in any case, it is not your money going to waste, it is the owners. Your job is to support the team and you can't even do that properly because of the constant moaning, self loathing attitude. The King Power is a dead stadium. Nobody makes any noise unless it is to have a go at the players or referee.
Brooksy Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 3 home losses already and we're only in October, people need to realise we're not going to get promoted with Sven in charge.

This Schmeichel and Bamba were the only ones showing any fight or willingness today, the rest just decided they could turn up and win. Never left a game as early as I did today but really it was that poor. The fact we're only 2 points off the play offs says far more about the lack of quality in the division rather than it does about our squad.
