Fox92 Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Top defenders like Jamie Carragher. Yeah. Can't be bad to play over 600 games for Liverpool.
Webbo Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 I'm glad everyone agrees with me about Konchesky, I thought he had a great game but Alan Young thought he had a poor first half.
Yojoe36 Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Did you go to the game because your the only one who has slagged King off? Oh I forgot he is sh*t because he didn't smash 3 goals...... Oh no no no. If you sat around me, you'd know who's playing shit. Trust me. So saying that I didn't notice King much, isn't as bad as it seems
fox in the sox Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 King had an excellent game today. I can't believe you could not see the great defensive work, tidy passing and bundles of energy.
Thracian Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Kasper 8.5 (Made one stupendous save at a vital time, might well have delivered an assist. His distribution was always thoughtful and his only flaw was with the odd hasty clearance). Konchesky 10 (Up against a talented opponent and virtually subdued him, finding further time to feature in a couple of our goals. His all-round sense of urgency for a full 90 minutes was an inspiration. Best performance from a City left-back for ages. ). Mills 8 .5 (Solid game, led us to a clean sheet and was wounded in action making a vital block). SSL 8.5 (Best game for City by far even though there's not been many to relfect on. Two fearless blocks. Peltier 8 (Played as a genuine wing-back til he ran out of steam and presumably got cramp. Moved forward with attitude and showed the confidence to get behind the Palace defence). Gally 10 (Yes, he squandered a chance or two but the two he scored were exceptional. They served to settle the match emphatically and who knows what they might have done for our team's confidence? They even persuaded him to chase back with a bit more conviction - a sight i thought I'd never see! ) . Wellens 7.5 (One assist and played his part both defensively and offensively). King 8 (Always involved, hardly a pass astray, might have scored with a header, vital goalsaving defensive header and another couple of important defensive interceptions. Box to box effort and benefitted greatly, as did Wellens, from having more passing options). Dyer 6.5 (A bit rusty but he had to be watched, he hustled with enthusiasm and generally gave us more options. I just thought we cramped his space a bit giving him little chance to actually run at folk. One shot but pulled it wide). Nugent 6.5 (Not his best day as a marksman but the effort was there despite his being closely marshalled). Beckford 7 (Gets a 7 for his goal and for contriving two excellent chances - one a header and the other an interception that left him one on one with the keeper. Sadly he just rolled the ball into the keeper's hands and emphasised that it was the misses which will be remembered as much as that super first goal of ours. Poor control let him down so often.). Subs: Howard 5 (Nothing of consequence). Shlupp 6.5 (Closed people down enthusiastically, launched one move that should have produced more a poor final pass from Howard and showed his speed by leaving a Palace defender for dead when breaking clear on the touchline. Encouraging as ever). Pearson 10 (Picked our best available team, used as many potential scorers as we realistically could, played with width and balance and got effective performances from the entire team, although Beckord's goal perhaps prevented him from being the exception. Pearson had the same people available as his predecessor and got far more from them. The game was entertaining, full of incident but memorable in particular for those breathtaking goals.). Yuki 5.5 (Was never going to find it easy containing Scammell who's often caused us trouble in the past. However he managed and helped us see out the game without undue alarm. As ever, he fitted in and gave of his best).
Simmo86 Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Kasper - 8 Cracking save Pelts - 7 Typical 110% performance Mills - 7 Solid as a rock SSL - 7 Same as above Konchesky - 9 MOTM one of the best performances I've seen for a long time Gally - 10 for his goals. 3 for the rest of his play. Too soft King - 7 Best he's been for a long time Wellens - 7 Jekyll and Hyde again from Richie, all his decent stuff levelled up by some shocking passing Dyer - 5 Not great Nugent - 7 Decent shift again. Didn't really threaten though Beckford - 6 Poor overall. Good finish and a bit unlucky with his 2nd chance as he got a clip on the leg as he was just about to shoot. Subs Yuki - 6.5 Standard Yuki shift Howard - 6 Meh Schlupp - 6.5 WOW he is quick!
Bert Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Kasper 8 - One world class save that held our lead and nearly made a goal with his booming kick. Peltier 8 - Solid, as usual. gets well stuck in, defends well and supported Gally very well. It's a shame Naughton was so good for us last year in a way, Peltier i think would look even better if we'd not had him. Konch 9 - Starting to show his true class now he's found his feet. Up against a good player, stuck to his task, won his battles and got well stuck in. Mills 7 - Solid, without inspiring. SSL 8 - Stood out for me, won everything, look composed and distribution was good. Gally 9 - 2 great goals, just simply fantastic. it's amazing what confidence can do for you. Dyer 6 - Looked a bit out of place and didn't do much of note. Wellens 7 - One assist, but many wasted passes. Still won't move to the ball. You'll always get some kind of performance from him to be fair. King 8 - One amazing defensive header early on, used the ball well, and got through a hell of a lot of work. Nuge 7 - His usual busy self, but nothing really came off for him today. Beckford 8 - Thought he was good today, jumped for headers, put himself about, chased defenders and scored. What more do you want?
absolutelegend Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 As I've said for ageeeeeeeeeeeeess.... we don't need dodgy Bamba and today proved that. Get rid Pearson! he's our best player by an absolute mile some comments i read are unbelievable. think they are wind up merchants
MGLCFC Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Whilst I agree Bamba is our best defender individually, I'm not sure he fits well into a defensive unit and I think Pearson may well prefer traditional centre halves. Bamba may find a role as a holding midfielder, possibly. Dyer was Dyer, however, he and Gallagher did give us the width so lacking in previous weeks and as a result Wellens and King were more effectual and this gave Beckford and Nugent more space. I'd be surprised to see any changes next week at Portsmouth, unless Pearson goes more defensive and drops Dyer for say Danns.
Danno Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schmeichel 9 Peltier 9. Mills 8.5 SSL 8.5 Konchesky 8.5 Gallagher 8 Wellens 8 King 7.5 Dyer 7 Beckford 7 Nugent 7 subs: Howard 7 Schlupp 7 Abe 6.5 (didn't have much to do)

TheUltimateWinner Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schmiechel - 9 - He is the messiah. Peltier - 8.5 - Brilliant, please stay fit! Mills - 8 - Can only get better under pearson St Ledger - 10 - Why the hate? Absolutely solid, Put his body on the line and assisted schmiechel in a world class joint save... MOTM Konchesky - 9 - Love this guy, full of creativity Dyer - 7 - Unfit, tried his best Wellens - 7.5 - Creative:) King - 8 - Played well, Defended well too, Saved our ass today Gallagher - 9.5 - Tackling & Shooting were amazing, Beckham in disguise... Just younger and has a cool mustache Beckford - 6.5 - Try harder, Apart from goal he was shocking Nugent - 7 - Not his best game but is full of commitment

foxfanazer Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schemeicel- 8 when called upon he was Unbeleivable peltier- 7 defended well and got forward Mills- 7 solid and won most of his headers ssl-8 best I've seen him play konchesky-8 similar to peltiers performance, just a liitle bit better Dyer-7 good to see him back, and to see us playing with width. King- 7 steady performance with some nice simple passes wellens-7 frustrating player for me but had a decent game today Gallagher- 9 just for the goals, other than that he was average beckford- 6/7 poor touch for most of the game but took his goal well, looked more interested too. Nugent-6/7 lively but fairly poor touch today and he was unlucky on a few occassions
Clazie Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Mills - 9 King - 7.5 Gallagher - 6 take away hose two goals and he was poor. Everyone else 7.
lcfcliam Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schmeichel 8 - Didn't have much to do but a 9 for a top quality save. Peltier 8 - I'm really warming to Peltier, think he's going to be an important player this season Mills 7 - Another solid game from Mills. Can't really think of any faults. St.Ledger 9 - Very impressed with him today, very strong both on the ground and in the air. Koncheskey 9 - Same as St.Ledger but also very good at going forward as well. Gallagher 8 - Would give him a 10 for those goals but before his goals i think his performance could of been a lot better but he seemed to start making challenges after he had scored. King 8 - Best game of the season for him that I have saw. I can't recall much but I do remember him diving in front of one of their shot's, Looks a lot more comfortable under Nigel. Wellens 8 - Was back and forward with the midfield all game, good assist for Beckford. Dyer 6 - Didn't do a lot in the game he just couldn't get started. Nugent 7 - Does he ever stop running? Love this player alot! Beckford 7 - There is still something i really don't like about him. He really annoys me, but best game for us so far, took his goal well. I'm sure he'll get a lot better. 6 for all the subs. 10 for Nigel Pearson! Welcome home Nigel!
Thracian Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 I'm glad everyone agrees with me about Konchesky, I thought he had a great game but Alan Young thought he had a poor first half. Apart from doing everything as if his life depended on it what I liked today was the thought he gave to his final delivery. Instead of pumping high, slow, hopeful crosses onto the heads of greatful centre-halves he varied it and showed he could hit a fast, low pass accurately to feet. Defensively he fought for everything and yet still had the presence of mind not to dive in when his opponent squeezed through into the penalty area a couple of times. To be up against such a difficult opponent and still get forward to have a hand in our goals was a brilliant effort. Yes, he needs to develop a greater understanding with Dyer but that will come and Dyer always plays better once he's more involved and fully match fit.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Mills - 9 King - 7.5 Gallagher - 6 take away hose two goals and he was poor. Everyone else 7.
crisp packet Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Bamba's the best centre back I've seen this season. He's also (in my opinion) been our player of the year so far. This!
Corky Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schmeichel- 7 (Made one fine save and was in command) Peltier- 7 (Really like this lad, very good going forward) Mills- 7 (Distribution isn't the best but still did well) St Ledger- 7 (Best game for us) Konchesky- 9 (Excellent. Having Dyer helped and he got forward and defended strongly) Gallagher- 8 (Extra two points for his goals) King- 7 (Much improved, excellent defensively) Wellens- 7 (Played well in the first half, second not so good, set up Beckford) Dyer- 7 (Having him playing offered us greater width) Nugent- 7 (Works hard and never lets defenders settle) Beckford- 7 (Got a goal, looked up for it, touch let him down at times)
dannythefox Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Kasper 7 Pelts 7 Mills 7.2 Ledger 8 Konch 8 Wellens 7.2 King 7 Gally 9 for the goals Dyer 7 Nugent 7 Beckford 7
ithuriel Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 I'm glad everyone agrees with me about Konchesky, I thought he had a great game but Alan Young thought he had a poor first half. He was poor first half and created a major bit of pressure on our defence by being caught flat footed that really put Ledger and Mills under the cosh for about five minutes, second half he played far better stuff. Bamba is a quality player and normally cover's for Konchesky when he get's caught like this. Smeichel made one howler with a bad kick but otherwise he was very solid today and earned us a clean sheet by a point blank save. Nugent harried constantly as did Dyer but Dyer was dead on his feet about halfway through the second half and Beckford should really have got a very easy second but just seemed to toe punt it at the keeper once he had beat the defender's. Gallagher scored two unstoppable goal's from range and King worked quite hard too. Wellens upped the pace from previous games this season but need's to be a bit sharper and Peltier played really well, not certain if he went off due to injury or to rest him since he came off after going down whilst other subs we're being made.
Number 6 Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 One thing you can say about St.Ledge and Mills performance today is that it gives Nige a headache. Personally, Bamba would be my first name on the teamsheet.
Rich Fox Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Bamba's the best centre back I've seen this season. He's also (in my opinion) been our player of the year so far. Well said Bamba is quality.
okie fox Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Schmeichel -8- Fantastic save to stop point-blank header. Peltier -8- Solid, got forward well St Ledger -8- Much better, attacked the aerial balls instead of backing off. But Bamba is still better than him Mills -8- One fantastic block, played well Koncheskey -8- Contained Zaha all game Gallagher -8- First goal was good, second one fantastic Wellens -8- Back to his best, spread the ball around well King -8- Best game for ages, worked very hard, saved us a few times Dyer -7- Good to have his pace back in the team Nugent -7- Worked hard Beckford -6- Surprised his goal shot got past their goalie, fluffed his breakaway. Needs to play stronger and cut out sloppy passes. Good pace though SUBS: Howard -6- Won some headers (in contrast to Beckford) Schlupp -7- His speed provided a good outlet when we were seeing out the game Abe -6- Not a right back but did an adequate job, apart from losing track of his man once
