Corky Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Exactly! That was one of the things that really took the biscuit. The guy scored 4 goals, has been a great signing for Blackburn, scored a very good amount for us, yet Alan Young still thinks he's right on that one. So much so that he'll try and justify it with some ludicrous tripe about build-up play. Come off it Alan... It strikes me as someone who has run out of legitimate reasons to criticise somebody and resorts to bringing in pretty irrelevant points to carry the argument on.
monsieur grande Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Alan Young is entertaining, and thats all i want. The things that he says, are his "opinion" , having been a professional player himself. Yea, he will never get on match of the day, in fact this is the best he will get. but what he he said about vassel, i agreed with, no end product. I must admit in the phone ins he loves to have the opposite opinion of the callers, but its probably better that he has his strong opinions, rather than agreeing with every caller
RonnieTodger Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 I quite enjoyed it in the 07/08 season. Steve Walsh and Stringer. Luckily I have a season ticket and go to about half the away games, but Young does get on my tits. Doesn't Sinclair report on the Riders now?

Stringer wasnt there in that season, was John Barber I think and he was dreadful. I like Alan Young, he isnt great but he is alright, far worse people to listen too.
davieG Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Re his apparent lack of knowledge of our not too distant past, I understand he was 'out of circulation' for most of that time with family and personal problems so although it's fair game to criticise his views and opinions of current players and games I believe it's unfair to focus on this aspect of his commentary.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Young is that out of date if he was at Tesco they would have put him in the bin weeks ago Young is that out of date, if he was an egg he would have hatched out months ago
Horibbly Wrong Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Young is that out of date if he was at Tesco they would have put him in the bin weeks ago Young is that out of date, if he was a yoghurt he would be so mouldy that no-one would want to eat or smell him
Cruss5 Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 They both have man love for gally. Stringer likes anybody who is on his twitter account, if they are not on then they might as well not play for us.
StarFox Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Stop being so negative. I think both Alan Young and Ian Stringer are great on the Radio.
StarFox Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Well I tell you what, I'd rather listen to them any day than read some of the comments on here.
Simo86 Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Well I tell you what, I'd rather listen to them any day than read some of the comments on here. You go do that then People are just saying what they think, you don't need to take it to heart. Thinking about it....................who is this Young or Stringer?
Trickyfox Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Quote "Too many times do I hear him butting in, telling people: "you're wrong". sounds a bit like this forum
StarFox Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Kinda have done. I just get sick and tired of all the negativity around here all the while. I personally think Stringer is a great asset you the club and is now part of our identity.
Christoph Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 It is boring to listen to everything we're doing wrong. He just seems like such a grumpy old man and dont even get me started on his rememberence for names.
Spiritwalker Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 I agree, He is always telling people to "Hold on let me finish", but will then interrupt other people and won't let them get there point across. He's a very annoying person. This is what annoys me the most.
ray49 Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Listening to Radio Leicester on Saturday. Gally was one on one with Hobbs. Stringer wondered why Gally didn't take Hobbs on, preferring to shoot from way out. Young informed him that Gally 'is tired'. 'But he's only been on the pitch for 10 minutes" was the (correct) reply from Stringer. Likewise when Hobbs was tackled in the box and fell, Young demanded to know why he wasn't booked for diving. "Because he didn't dive. He was tackled fairly, fell during the tackle and didn't claim a penalty." From Stringer's responses, I think he's getting a bit peed off with some of Young's more ludicrous offerings.
leicesterseddon Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Re his apparent lack of knowledge of our not too distant past, I understand he was 'out of circulation' for most of that time with family and personal problems so although it's fair game to criticise his views and opinions of current players and games I believe it's unfair to focus on this aspect of his commentary. Well, fine. But surely if he's a paid commentator now, it's part of his job to have at least a working knowledge of the recent history of the club, so shouldn't he read up on it? For me, the worst thing about the coverage provided by Radio Leicester is how utterly partial and sycophantic it is. I mean, a few weeks ago they had Gallagher in the commentary box with them (can't remember which game it was, but it was an away game towards the end of Sven's reign, and he hadn't been picked for the match squad). I mean, how were they ever going to provide unbiased opinions on the game with a colleague (and friend) of the players sitting next to them?
Criggers Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Stringer wouldn't be half as bad if you could remove anything Twitter related from Radio Leic air time. Quite frankly I couldn't give two shits about what Stringer does on his twitter and I certainly don't need him telling me about other peoples 'tweets'. If I wanted to know things like that I would look myself. As for Young, irritating, rude and seems to be increasingly clueless. I would love for RL to find a replacement. He makes me
Karljohn Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 The moment that lad called up and said Sven out, and 2 days later he called back to rub his nose in it, and rightly so was quality. Young was very dismissive of the guy on the saturday night. after Millwall. He made him look a dick. Listened to the game at Hull, and its daft now some of the stuff he comes out with, Gally tired after ten minutes, Fryatt and SSL clash of heads. . . "I hope they arent seriously hurt, well not SSL anyway" I know its a bit of fun but did he know that Fryatt broke his jaw playing for us? just seemed a daft comment. Largely out of touch, contradicts himself far too often and a damn good reason i should take on extra shifts to get cash for awaygames so I dont have to listen to RL!
Bayfox Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Alan Young is a t0$$£r, his opinions are not worth registering he spouts absolute drivel, what views he does have no bearing on the modern game and a lot of the time have no actual relevance to what is happening at Leicester City FC. Personally I can't stand Ian Stringer either, which makes me glad I'm a season ticket holder, when we are away I can only flick to Radio Leicester long enough to find out the score and then that's it I switch back off, I prefer soccer saturday or final score, than listening to the awful commentary on RL. I would welcome both being replaced although stringer might be better if he had a Muzzy Izzet, Steve Walsh or Ali Mauchlen alongside him.
Captain... Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Don't mindStringer, but Young is terrible, I was listening to the Pompey commentary and he had already decided we should play for the draw and was criticising us playing too many men forward and attacking in the first half I ended up watching the Danish stream with Rdio Leicester commentary on Saturday and you end up realising just how much they don't mention what is going on. Also Young going on about the penalty and sending off without having seen a replay, I always assumed they could watch replays, and just stating baseless opinion as fact, was doing my head in when I was watching a replay of Mills' trip. I can't stomach the moan in either.
Houdini Logic Posted 6 December 2011 Posted 6 December 2011 Sometimes he knows what he's talking about and sometimes I think he's on another planet. No different to anyone else I've ever met and talked to about football.
