The Doctor Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Yesterday was an utter shambles but, with the games coming relatively thick and fast this week, we need to move on quickly and try and right the wrongs of yesterday on Saturday. I'd like to see us try a new formation for a bit: Schmeichel Mills--------Bamba--------Tunchev ----------------------------------------------------------------------Peltier----------------------------------------------------Konchesky Abe--------King----------Fernandes Gallagher Nugent Subs: Weale, Paintsil, Schlupp, Moussa, Beckford All our width is coming from the full-backs anyway, so I see no reason not to free them up a bit more to go forward and attack while the addition of another centre-back also adds some needed cover for when Bamba drives out of defence. In Abe, Fernandes and King there's three competent defensive players who, most importantly, move the ball fast. Also the presence of Abe and Fernandes should free King up to get forward more. Up top, Gallagher does not work as an out and out striker but, dropping off the front line slightly I would think would help get more out of him while only Nugent really has the energy to play as a half-lone striker. No doubt however we'll see the same 4-4-2 formation, with a slow, cumbersome midfield pairing and end up exasperated at a dull draw or narrow defeat.
Matt Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I see this game going along the lines of playing shit and managing to scrape a draw. Deja Vu.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Beckford was one of our top performers against ipswich. 2nd half id keep him in. Kasper Peltier. Mills. Bamba. Konchesky .……………Abe........................... .............King. Danns................... Gallagher. Nugent. Beckford...... Weale. Tunch. Schlupp. Dyer. Howard.
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Draw written all over it. Cannot see us winning this on current form.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Beckford was one of our top performers against ipswich. 2nd half id keep him in. Kasper Peltier. Mills. Bamba. Konchesky .……………Abe........................... .............King. Danns................... Gallagher. Nugent. Beckford...... Weale. Tunch. Schlupp. Dyer. Howard. Beckford one of our top performers? He did not have a single shot on goal for the whole time he was on.... 25 k a week... Not a single attempt on goal... I'll let you do the math.. Crazy crazy view you have of what constitutes a good striker!!! One or two good touches in the game... Whoopy fookin do!!!! lol
accessory Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Beckford was one of our top performers against ipswich. 2nd half id keep him in. What game were you watching? In the one I saw, he spent most of that half skulking on the touchline and barely setting foot in Ipswich's penalty area.
dave the caveman Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Interesting idea, but we all know Pearson will stick to picking players from within the love-circle, and a change of formation? No chance. I actually think we might get a win though. It will be a crap game with no identifiable quality shown by either side. But luckily for us, while we will be terrible, Portsmouth will be atrocious. We'll win by being the least worst of the two teams.
NewquayFox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Schlupp, Danns & Fernandez will start in place of Dyer, Wellens & Abe then the procession of our seasons saviours will start arriving to give all the City fans a great new year.... ;0)
ithuriel Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Got my ticket already, hope springs eternal :xmaslaugh:
GianEmmo Zola Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I was at work haha last time i listen to alan young sorry guys. Bomb him out then!! Haha Think we should sell him. And get a player in the calibre of our old strikers like fryatt, hammond, hayles, cort, de vries.!

GianEmmo Zola Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUME. Haha yes sorry missed him. Ledge!
Corky Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I see a dull draw. They don't score many away, we seem to be scoring one per game at the moment, early kick-off, it's got all the makings of a non-thriller.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I see this game going along the lines of playing shit and managing to scrape a draw. Deja Vu. Have we signed a new player?

Hey, you laugh and joke but lets be honest are they any worse than Beckford and some of the current crop? Beckford and others are just 'bigger' names and cost/earning alot more money.
VinceNoir Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Kasper Peltier - Mills - St.Ledger - Konchesky Bamba Gallagher - Fernandes - Dyer Nugent - Beckford Subs: Weale, King, Abe, Schlupp, Tunchev. Just an idea as Bamba seems to try too much as a CB imo. Don't know if it would be worth trying. Maybe Abe could fit in somewhere, he played okay against Ipswich.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 This game has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it That said im hoping and praying for a Leicester win obviously
Kitchandro Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Even if we are a midtable side we must be due a win, so it's not completely hopeless. Schlupp in for Beckford, drop Wellens and chuck someone else useless in, Tunchev in for Mills or Bamba.

I'd like to give this a go tbh, what we got to lose?
Bert Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Did anyone else notice that beckford played 70/75% out wide left? Time to give Wellens a rest. Let's see what Danns and Abe can do centre mid.

Let's see what Danns and Abe can do centre mid. I think Schulpp plays that position better and why do we have to look for a winger when Schulpp could easy play there
Jimmy Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I'm starting to think Lee Peltier is looking fatigued atm and could use a rest but if Pantsil is on the way out who could spell him for a game just to freshen him up? I also think we could of seen the last of Lloyd, at least for a while Schmeichel Peltier Mills Tunchev Konchesky Gallagher Danns Abe Schlupp/Moussa Beckford Nugent Weale, King, Howard, Schlupp/Moussa, Bamba
Bert Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Isn't going to happen. NP's golden boy remember. Sadly I know. No player is bigger than the team. It makes me laugh how Wellens has an extra day off yet still plays week in week out, and with what'll be 3 games in 6 days (and 2 in 2) how can it be justified that he plays more than any other midfielder? He's not that good.
