Jimmy Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Sadly I know. No player is bigger than the team. It makes me laugh how Wellens has an extra day off yet still plays week in week out, and with what'll be 3 games in 6 days (and 2 in 2) how can it be justified that he plays more than any other midfielder? He's not that good. tbf Konch get the day off as well but at least he's constantly running his legs off so earns his extra rest
dannythefox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Not looking forward to this although coming across on the train so we'll be having some ale! I don't go in to any game thinking were going to win any more! When you see Wellens Howard and Beckford in the squad what chance do you have!
Corky Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 tbf Konch get the day off as well but at least he's constantly running his legs off so earns his extra rest That's the thing, Konchesky's performances have still been consistent and to a good standard. Wellens' haven't.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 It looks like a defeat to me, or a draw if we are lucky.
Spiritwalker Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 At least my expectation levels are comming down. With the current personel the OP's team and formation is definately worth a shot, but won't happen. This has 1-1 written all over it.
kingfox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Need big change can't keep going on like we have Schmeichel Peltier Mills Tunchev Konchesky Bamba Abe King Beckford Nugent Schlupp Subs - Weale, St Ledger, Danns, Wellens, Howard
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Why are people so oblivious NP is going to start 3/4 out of the same midfield Wellens the t**t is guaranteed a starting place.
Jimmy Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Why are people so oblivious NP is going to start 3/4 out of the same midfield Wellens the t**t is guaranteed a starting place. who said we are, we are simply posting what we'd like to see
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 who said we are, we are simply posting what we'd like to see What we would like to see isn't going to happen, harsh reality but the truth.
Jimmy Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 What we would like to see isn't going to happen, harsh reality but the truth. then we may as well close this place down if we can't say what we want from the side anymore...
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 then we may as well close this place down if we can't say what we want from the side anymore... Of course we want changes to be made it is just saddening that nothing ever happens remotely. NP practically keeps the same ineffective midfield starting game after game because we supposedly don't have any replacements. January is a cruical month for us.
Gazza M Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 So what to expect on Saturday against Portsmouth? Well to be honest, knowing the way Nigel works, we wont see any drastic changes. For me one important change needs to be made at the back. I am a big Sol Bamba critic. I think that he does some brilliant things. He is strong and skillful for a big man, he goes on amazing runs from centre half and I was very impressed with him in our 1-0 victory over Brighton this year. However he doesn't communicate, gives the ball away too much and puts the fear of god in to his fellow defenders and goalkeeper. He has to go! yesterday he watched the ball bounce in our area, which led to their goal and then started going for balls that were clearly Mills' to win and head clear. Poor old Paul Konchesky seems to be terrified of his "communication skills too." For me, I would honestly consider a game of Mills/Tunchev. I would also revert back to the formation we had in the 2nd half yesterday of 4-3-3. Kasper Konchesky Tunchev Mills Peltier Abe King Fernandes Gallagher Howard Nugent Subs: Weale, Dyer, Wellens, Beckford, St Ledger
NewquayFox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 3 wins in a row, 3.0 Pompey, 3.1 at Palace 4.2 at Forest...... Beckford 3, Nugent 2, Danns 2, Schlupp, Peltier & one of the new signings.... ;0)
Libertine Dream Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Is it just me who thought Pearson was implying the season was a write off yesterday. He was going to try and tweak the squad, work with them, tweak it slightly more in the summer and go again. If not, it's what I'd do.
iamafox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Looks like it will be another bore draw (at home). We were lucky to get a draw yesterday so I wouldn't be surprised if we get another draw on Saturday.
Callabinho Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Has to be 4-3-3, 4-4-2 just doesn't work! We don't have the wide men, also Howard needs dropping all together! Abe was the only player for me who keeps his shirt in the midfield so I would play. Schmeichel Pelts, Bamba, Mills, Konchesky Danns, Abe, Wellens Schlupp, beckford, Nugent Schlupp can't do any worse than any one else has recently.
Matt Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Is it just me who thought Pearson was implying the season was a write off yesterday. He was going to try and tweak the squad, work with them, tweak it slightly more in the summer and go again. If not, it's what I'd do. I think it's a write off. Ok we're only 5 points of the playoffs but it's more than that, we're clearly not good enough to be challenging at the top of the championship, so god help us if we got to the premiership, we'd need a huge rebuild of the team to stay up, we need to compete in the championship for the rest of this season, make sure we don't go down (Obviously, which I don't think we are in any danger of going down that's just stupid), buy and start rebuilding in January, and treat it as a long pre-season so we are prepared for next season and there is no excuse of not gelling, or any of that bullshit. Perhaps a pessimistic view but I feel that is the right way to go about it. If we buy and work towards rebuild in January ready for next season and make the playoffs this season then great but this current team simply isn't good enough to be challenging at the top of the championship and it is showing.
HoustonFox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 It's on TV here, at 6am, so I will be getting up early to watch the night after a house party. Prediction? Dull as dishwater and we lose 0-1 in the 86th minute. Sorry folks. Back to the team. Would like to think midfield of King and Fernandes (and maybe Abe) but we ALL know Wellens will play. When I play FIFA on career mode (yes, aware not real life), Wellens is first name on transfer list... Keep the faith...
Tielemans63 Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I think we'll lose this. Pompey might have a tiny squad and no money but they have great team spirit and work ethic. Our players seem like 11 strangers who are very wary of each other. 2-0 Pompey
ithuriel Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I think we will win, the player's will not have an idea who is going to be replaced in the first team in January and this is maybe their last chance to impress before the wheel's proper are put into motion for the transfer window. Plus in all my year's of following city they can always throw you a curve in regard's to result's :xmaslaugh:
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Kaspar Peltier Bamba/Tunchev Mills/Tunchev Konchesky Fernandes Wellens King Gallagher Beckford Nugent Subs: Dyer, Schlupp, Abe, SSL/Mills/Tunchev/Bamba, Weale 2-0 win, Beckford x2. (although he is shit........)
Weller in Tights Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Kasper Peltier - Mills - St.Ledger - Konchesky Bamba Gallagher - Fernandes - Schlupp Nugent - Beckford Just try something a bit different, If it doesn't work, then so what at least it was tried. At the moment I just can't see Wellens, King and Dyer doing the business. Took a friend of mine to the game who hasn't seen much of Leicester this season. With no prompting he thought we had a midfield that wasn't interested. Don't think we should ever boo players (it really doesn't help their confidence). However the manager is the person who should see it is just not working. Come on City start that promotion push on Saturday and then please beat those trees next Saturday. Not going Palace (been there once, a real pig of a place to get to).
Aylestone Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 All this shite about building for next season is bollox,..this season isnt lost yet,.granted performances havent been great and results obviously reflect that but we do have too many good players to be not competing and putting a run together to get back up there. Half the time I read this forum and think we've been hacked by Forest or Derby fans posting shite just to get a reaction from us, there's a guy sits behind me in the ground and moans like **** at every pass/shot/clearance,.really does my feckin head in reading/hearing all this negative bollox about the team we love to go and watch and support. Lets try supporting them wether we like/rate them or not and if theyre having a bad time on the pitch thats when they need the fans to get behind them and give them the encouragement to get it right next time,.. Come on City,....we still have a say in this division,...get behind the boys,..!!!
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Possibly too much time on my hands but I was thinking that we need a change around. Nugent played out wide for a large part of last season for Pompey and still scored 14 goals. He and Beckford are too similar imo to ever play successfully together in a 4-4-2. It has also been said that Beckford plays better with a target man. If you throw into the mix that we have **** all penetration from midfield I think it may be a good idea to drop Dyer, stick Nugent on the left and put Howard up top with Beckford. What does anyone else think?
