Ply-off Points Target

I think historically the total to aim for is 70, that leaves us to get 28 from remaining 16 games, certainly not impossible (7 remaining home games- Cov Brum Trees Hull Donny Burnley Hammers, 21points available imo 15points resonable to achieve, that would leave 13 points from 9 away games (Watford Rams Bristol Reading Blackpool Peterboro Ipswich Millwall Leeds) 27points available 13 points feasable

What's a Ply-off? Is it some sort of tissue based competition?:P On a serious note, I believe we will need more than 70 points to achieve the PO's. That will require a level of consistency that we have not had all season. It is doable, however.COYB

As Jeff on TB said

No it's not.

Sometimes 70 points is enough, usually it's not.

6th places teams points in recent years:

2011: 75

2010: 70

2009: 74

2008: 70

2007: 75

2006: 75

2005: 73

All we can do is hope we go on a run of winning games and wait and see. I think it will be just to much for us this season and we'll just miss out finishing 7th. I live in hope though.

70 won't do it.

I'd think more like 75. I think it's not impossible but it's highly unlikely.

Yes, we got to 76 points in 2010 I think.....so a similar amount this time too would probably be required - just about do-able but highly unlikely! Although teams are hellishly inconsistent compared to when we were last in the play offs shake up two seasons ago (so maybe 70 would see us sneak in) but it's still a huge ask - considering we've still yet to win consecutive league games by mid February - form that is not really good enough for even a top half of the table finish but stranger things have happened I suppose. The realist in me says all eyes on a promotion push next season instead though

I think its doable if we beat the team currently in the play-offs. Lose any more than one of them, then I think its nearly over.

We have to play every team in the bottom 9 (I think) If we have a chance, we shouldn't lose against ANY of them.

So to finish on 75 pts we need 33pts from a possible 48pts :( . Unlikely when you look at it this way i'm afraid . But you just never know with Us

Or even worse way of looking at it is 11 wins from 16 games .

The pace is quite quick this year. Current 6th place are on course for 78 points, though the team in 5th having played one more are only on course for 76. There are a few teams in it as well, so all signs point to a target at the higher end of the spectrum. I think we'll need 76.

It really doesn't matter how many points will be needed. We just need to get in to the habit of winning games. Watford is winnable, derby the same Nd then beat cov at home. To me if we can't do that then we arent good enough anyway. I'm optimistic but time is running out.

First post in a fair few months.

I think we can do it, to state the obvious we need consistency. Don't worry about anyone else, If we keep winning we'll get there.

Man for man there is probably only West Ham as good as us so we should be confident wherever we go. Play organised, solid 4 4 2 as we've seen in recent weeks we should be alright. We have to be positive and go for the win in every game mind.

My biggest worry is despite going to nearly every game last season, Ive made 1 this season, so if we do get to the playoffs chances are I'll miss out!

The target will be lower this year with so many clubs taking so many points off each other at the top.

Right now, anyone above us has a chance of getting top 6 and I can see the target being high 60's.

we must win 2 out of every 3 games as a minimum to even challenge... that's also not taking into account our points against Pompey which we may yet lose

This, winnable games coming up but we have less doubles this season than a tee-total church going single person in their 70's

Other teams as well so that won't be a major factor.

Points against Pompey lost could work in our favour as we only gained 2 points _ I would have thought our major rivals would have taken more from them.
