cc_star Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 RT @OfficialFOXES: City play Kettering Town in a fundraising friendly at Nene Park tonight. King and Vassell both in the squad to travel. http://t.co/F7Ubusbj Vassell looks like he's on the mend as he's in squad for Kettering fund raising match, perhaps could figure in the matchday squad before season ends, although I personally wasn't impressed with his goal scoring record & his ability to be sheparded safely to the corner flag rather than running towards opposition goal, I think he could do an excellent job on the right allowing Dyer to return to the left. He's good at retaining possession too, think we've missed some of his skills this season.
danny. Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 It's all about the tekkers with Darius, enough little tricks to feature on Fifa Street
Jace Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Brilliant news lets hope Pearson likes him the really think Beckford up front with Nugent and Vassell playing wider just behind him has great potential
Dan Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Don't see it making much difference personally, not that effective out wide and think we can do better up front. Just do not see where he fits in sadly.
Out Foxed Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 more options can never be a bad thing. hopefully he gets about 70 minutes today.
Bryn Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 There's someone I wouldn't mind fit and in the team. We looked a worse team without him, and he certainly won't be considering this season done and dusted given he's got a new contract to earn.
MrSpaM Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Cant see him getting picked before Schlupp tbh, cant see Pearson dropping our only target man either
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Vassell is and always has been an out and out centre forward. He IMO has never looked right in a 4-3-3. If he gets a chance I'd like to see him played in his natural position ie. just off the shoulder of the last defender. Then we may see the best of a player who still has pace and a cool finish. Finally, he can shield the ball well at feet and bring other players in. I'd only want to see him in his best position.
Aleksz Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 "Squad to travel: Theo Brown, Shane Byrne, Michael Cain, Elliott Chamberlain, Corey Gregory, Tom Hopper, Joey Jones, Andy King, Pierre Larrauri, Conrad Logan, Jide Maduako, Matt Mills, Liam Moore, Oliver Norburn, Harry Panayiotou, John Pantsil, Alie Sesay, Adam Smith, Darius Vassell." Who is Jide Maduako?

Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 I misread the thread title as Vassell Black and thought it had been started by acooling. I feel that he would have won us a few extra points this season had he been fit.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Missed Vassell and his stepovers! Very good winger... Him & Lloyd on the wings with Marshall in the middle... I just weed a little.
EnderbyFox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Missed Vassell and his stepovers! Very good winger... Him & Lloyd on the wings with Marshall in the middle... I just weed a little. This, Nuge as lone striker with these 3 behind him.
Area88 Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 There's no question he needs to be brought back to the First Team asap, he's needed desperately for our playoff hopes.
Area88 Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Any news on Vassell being brought back for Millwall?
Mack Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 IF Pearson rated him he would have been on the bench a while ago by now. He's been in full training for a while already.
Guest Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 He has skill and speed. He's really an upgrade on Dyer. I'd have him in (not necessarily to replace Dyer but if I say who'd I'd replace I may be accused of hating).
Les-TA-Jon Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Dyer is quite a bit faster than Vassell I'm afraid and has better wing play. Vassell has a role to play, but I cannot see it being more than from the bench or to fill out the squad
