Greg2607 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 di matteo was slated as inexperienced and naive when the last round of managerial appointments happened. And I still think he is inexperienced. JUST because you get Chelsea to a champions league final doesn't NECCESSARILY make you god's gift to football management. Ask the Portsmouth and West Ham fans.

Burmesefox Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Well..... this dosnt exactly bode well..... bye bye high earners Bodes very well in my eyes. I trust NP to manage the situation and off load what is clearly not going to work. I expect a clearout.
ithuriel Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Pearsons staying, he is going to tear this team apart and start again
DorsetFox9 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Great, so hes going to get rid of proven championship players who just need time to bed in. and replace them with the "Quality" of Danny Drinkwater, who is possibly the most negative midfielder i have seen. all he does is pass it back or pass it astray. Oh and then replace Matt Mills who actually defends well with Wes Morgan, OK he might not be able to pass, but last time i checked that isn't what the CB's primary job is. Morgan just looks clumsy and seems to spend more time running forward with the ball than defending. these players are budget players. We don't need budget players, we need 2 or 3 top quality players and we are set. reading Sky this morning about Pearson having a clear out just makes me fearful of next season. FIFA fair play wont come in until after next season, they would have to give clubs time to sort them selves out.
Webbo Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Great, so hes going to get rid of proven championship players who just need time to bed in. Most of them have had a full season, how long do you need?

MattyFromLE Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Well..... this dosnt exactly bode well..... bye bye high earners How does it not bode well? Reducing the wage bill, will go some way to ensuring the club is financially secure, rather than throwing money at average, over rated players to try get out of the Championship. It will also go some way to reducing the amount of ego's as well, which is only a good thing for the squad. Great, so hes going to get rid of proven championship players who just need time to bed in. and replace them with the "Quality" of Danny Drinkwater, who is possibly the most negative midfielder i have seen. all he does is pass it back or pass it astray. FIFA fair play wont come in until after next season, they would have to give clubs time to sort them selves out. There are so many things wrong with this. Proven championship players that helped us win the league this season? Time to bed in? They've had a year almost! I've had 2 months at my new job, if i don't "bed in" within 3 months, i'm out the door! Danny Drinkwater has been poor, but is no way a negative midfielder. Mills, hmmmmm. I prefer Morgan, Morgans overall game is better, and Mills' distribution is woeful.
DorsetFox9 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Most of them have had a full season, how long do you need? 1 season, 2 managers, 2 very contrasting styles of play. so you want to get rid of the likes of Beckford, Nugent, Mills, Kasper, St Ledger. they will all he our highest earners? replace them with what?

DorsetFox9 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 All those proven championship players that have served us so well and got us up this season? its the way they are being put together. 4 points off the play-offs 10 games in under Sven. with 15 new players! Reading were in the relegation zone when he got sacked. players needed time to find their feet, learn how each other play and learn their strengths and weaknesses. some of the performances were delightful (Derby, Southampton, Brighton, Watford, Forest) if it wasn't for incompetent refereeing, we would have had 3 points at Forest.

Babylon Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Since when was 15th place in the relegation zone? Well we were "almost the worst team in the league" when 13th/14th... so 15th MUST be bottom surely?

I really wish people would stop bringing up how many points off the playoffs we were near the beginning of the season, as if it means we were doing really well then, and we're not now. Yes, we were four points off the playoffs then, but at the same time, we were also only nine points above the relegation zone. We're 23 points above the relegation zone now. Would you say that means we're doing a lot better now? I've already written about this a few times. It's not very difficult to be near the top of the table near the beginning of the season, compared to being near the top at the end of the season, because you don't have to win as many points. The gap in points right across the board is very small at the beginning of the season. For example, at the time you mentioned, Cov and Millwall were both in the relegation zone, and were both only 10 points off the playoffs. Reading were not in the relegation zone when Sven was sacked. They were 14th. The players Sven bought in last summer have had a whole season to bed in. All they've proven is that most of them aren't good enough. When you consider how much money has been spent on them, some of them have been incredibly expensive flops. If we really want overrated average Championship players, then we might as well pay them what their worth. Paying £5m for Mills and giving him £30k a week doesn't automatically make him a much better player than Morgan. There were some good performances at the beginning of the season, e.g. Derby, Brighton, the first half at Forest, but there were also plenty of truly pathetic performances. How you can say we played well against Soton or Watford, I do not know. We were very lucky against the Saints, and we were the slightly less shit team against Watford, who were abysmal.
cc_star Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Championship clubs agree to implement Financial Fair Play regulations from next season. Financial fairplay in the Championship has been introduced from the beginning of next season. Getting rid of the higher earners who've under-acheived so badly is the only course of action, there is no other way. All these people masturbating over a manager that simply spent many future year's earnings all at once in a huge failed experiment, just don't get it.

Saxondale Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 I can't be bothered to read the previous pages of this thread so this may well have been covered, but let me give you my reasons why Pearson won't be sacked this summer: 1) It took a lot of long negotiations to get Pearson et al back from Hull. Pearson is a sensible bloke and, seeing what happened to Sven, there is no way he would have taken the job if he didn't gain some sort of reassurance that he was going to be given beyond the end of this season to achieve the progress we aspire to. There were plenty of reasons for him NOT to come back to Leicester ('never go back', doing well at Hull, trigger-happy owners), so he will have made absolutely sure that it was a favourable move. Yes, he will have been offered huge promotion bonuses, but I think he's not as short-term as that and he will have wanted it to be a good career move and he won't want to end up being sacked for not achieving the necessary goals and putting his career back a few steps. He will have set the owners' expectations straight and gained a commitment to be allowed a chance to build longer-term. 2) Our propaganda DVD given away on Monday evening features Pearson prominently and the season ticket marketing bumph speaks about Pearson's 'expert guidance'. I'm not saying that the owners would have slated him in any of this but, if he didn't have their backing, he simply wouldn't be mentioned at all. 3) After appearing fairly trigger-happy with Sven and then seemingly finding it harder than anticipated to recruit his replacement, the owners will be conscious that, by binning another manager, they will find it even harder to recruit a manager of the desired calibre. 4) Who would you actually replace him with who'd actually want to come? 5) They won't want to look like they got it wrong again. Like it or not, Nige is here for longer yet.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Seriously this is beyond a joke. Who is the bloke that we think will lead us to the promised land if we bring them in now? Seriously no one. They have to learn about the players all over again, they have to decide what players they want to keep, who they want to bring in, and possibly change the way the team plays AGAIN. This constant changing will NEVER work! Some of the names we are linked with are laughable: Lee Clark Mick McCarthy Billy Davies Kevin Keegan Absolute jokers. There are only a couple of blokes that could do a better job MON and Di Matteo we wil lget neither, so itsirrelevant. Only get rid if you have someone better to bring in. Lets bring Sven back so he can spunk another £15 million up the wall on average dross....great. Agree completely. Although any of the names above would be decent shouts ( I have no gripe with any of them), what would be the point of starting over AGAIN... And any new incumbent would still have the same problem Pearson has ie. how to get rid of who he doesn't want.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 I trust Pearson will be happy to cut his own overpaid salary then? I don't think so somehow. That of course, is if he is still here.
