davieG Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Merc Martyn Waghorn has vowed to come back next season fitter and stronger than ever. The Leicester City striker has missed seven months of the season with a hamstring injury he picked up while on loan with Hull, but is hoping to end the season on a high at Leeds tomorrow. But then the hard work really starts for the 22-year-old as he gets ready for the new campaign in August. "It would be nice to play because it is a big game for me personally," said Waghorn. "Leeds away is a great club to go to and a big stadium, so it should be an interesting game. It would be nice to play a part. "I want to play as many games as I can, and I would love the season to go on. I am desperate to get back playing. "I am going to have a busy summer. I am going to work hard and come back fitter and stronger than ever next season." The game may not have much riding on it, but Waghorn said manager Nigel Pearson would ensure the players do not let their close-season start prematurely. Waghorn revealed several of the club's academy side had been training with the first team this week and could be involved at Elland Road. "Training has been good and the manager has rallied the boys up," he said. "You can slip into the feeling it is the end of the season, but we have a job to do and there are three points up for grabs. It is easy to slip into that thinking but I don't think the gaffer would allow that. "He is man who wants to win games, and so do the boys. We are ready for it. "For me, I have a personal target to get on and get a goal, but we have a couple of young boys involved as well so it would be nice for them to get some game-time and hopefully prove a point. "The young lads are hungry. It is good because it brings a new lease of life to training."
Stevosevic Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Players are on the coach and SSL is tweeting to the academy player of the year to bring him a tea, so it looks like he is in the squad.
