chili_con_carne Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 SERIOUSLY your all w*nkers. Saying whitbread is a shit signing? On a free? I swear you think we're man city or something? never going on this forum again your all deluded. he's a quality player. even if he only plays 20 games it's still worth it. bye.
Unabomber Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 When fit a quality player, and should we sign him and he does get injured at least SSL is there to play (as it stands) I personally would be very happy with this.
MattyFromLE Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 His career seems 2 be injury after injury looking through his wikipedia page, hopefully he stays fit for us though I wouldn't take Wikipedia as gospel mate. Plus, I am 100% sure, that Pearson isn't assembling a team of slow, unproven crippled rejects. His previous record would suggest his signings are informed and thought out - unlike Sven...and we all know how that ended.
MrBojangles Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Just to put all the ITK stuff in context - it really makes no difference who says what or when they say it. You will find out who has signed way before a ball has been kicked in anger. Just wait until it's official and get on with your lives
NewburyFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 All I'm saying is the guy has had a lot of long term injury problems that have kept him out for weeks at a time! We don't need that! Also I've trawled through a couple of norwich fan forums and they really don't rate him and they don't seem arsed that he went, neither do the club considering they let him go as a free agent. After being linked with up and coming centre backs with future potential such as Maguire and Chester its a step down in my opinion. http://services.pinkun.com/forums/pinkun/cs/forums/2736525/ShowPost.aspx Like this one?
GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 http://services.pink...5/ShowPost.aspx Like this one? There are just as much comments on that post that criticise him for being constantly injured as there are that were getting irate about the thought of him following their manager out the door to Villa...constitutes more to a negative view on him than a positive one!

If he was a poor player when fit then they wouldn't have been bothered about him going to Villa. As it is, he's described as their best CB. Although I've got concerns over his injury record, signing a player who performed well for Norwich in the PL on a free transfer seems like great business.
Father Ted Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Wheres all this injury bullshit come from? Ive been very impressed whenever ive seen him play. Puts his body on the line, similar to Kisnorbo, but fast and also experienced. Better than SSL. If it goes through, this could be the perfect addition to an almost complete squad. Great work NP.

Whats the point of signing a player if he's injured regularly? When a guy has had season ending injuries on multiple occurrences that is risky business and when you think he will command a relatively high salary does it really make sense when you already have a player who performed admirably in the Euros in a struggling side and the teams club captain as solid starters with good upcoming youth players to complement? Or sign a potential injury liability, who when fit isn't exactly a world beater otherwise Norwich would have offered him a new contract.

Harry - LCFC Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 mcgivern, nielson, kermo.. who informed him of them then.. A manager won't get every signing right - I don't think it's a fair argument to just present the names of players who failed under Pearson when there are plenty more who have done well. I think in general, Pearson has a good eye for which players to pick up and which to avoid, you can't expect everyone he brings in to succeed.

Sven made 1 bad signing in Mills the rest have been good players and some have become fan favourites and are quality.

GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 yes Ball, Pantsil and Johnson will go down as Leicester Legends. Johnson was a punt on loan, Pantsil got Malaria (but before that wasn't great but had fans split down the middle some liked him some didn't) and yeah Ball was shit! However do you want me to list more on top of the previous list of shit players that Pearson signed? No manager is perfect but Sven did sign a lot of quality players on loan and on permanents...

GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 I doubt that all of Pearson's bad signings added together, cost £5,000,000. A lot of Sven's signings were free agents and also Mills ended up costing us about £3.5 million as the rest was subject to add ons which were never met...

Sven made 1 bad signing in Mills the rest have been good players and some have become fan favourites and are quality. Yeah better signings who took us to 9th place at best. Better signings who cost us millions more in fees and huge wages. Pearsons team was made up of free transfers and loans mostly. And not the cream either like Sven had the luxury of signing. We were shopping in the bargain bin!!! We were getting frees from the conference and league two. And loans from youth teams. Not Yakubu, Naughton, Etc
dpjfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Apparantly Stringer tweeting Whitbreads having a medical so (if Stringers to be believed), the deals close
ARM1968 Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 If this comes off could potentially be great. Injury concerns aside he is a quality CB at this level at not too bad at PL.
tomtom Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Right , lets get this straight !!! 1. Zac Whitbread would be a great addition to the squad and as for his bad injury record don't forget that's the only reason we got Mark Davies and look how that turned out (try being positive) 2. Both Sven and NP have brought in some fantastic players to our club (and the odd turkey granted) Svens players cost more money yes but players like kasper if sold could go for a big fee where as NP had to wheel and deal and bring in loans, but found some gems !! Both managers have their good points and bad and both had/have my full support, this will be a tough season ahead but if we can get it right at the back there's no reason we can't make the play offs at least !! Let's be positive and really get behind the boys !!!!

You must either hate or love Sven, and either constantly resort to concluding anything Pearson does is to repair everything he did, or complain that nothing Pearson can do will result in success. Sort you yourself out! You'll make no friends trying to be realistic on here!

I was beginning to think the whole board had gone to the shi**er. As for whitbread he is proven at this level when fit. Something we desperately need. If he stays fit he will be an awesome addition. If not he was free anyway so apart from wages it won't be too much of a waste. Looking forward to next season with realistic hopes of a play off place coyb!
