Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Michael Owen isn't coming here NP isn't big enough to deal with his ego.
Matt Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Haha this forum is going to be unbearable this season. Pearson you utter prat, if this is true. You just know Beckford is going to score a horrible amount of goals this season for Leeds and rub our noses in it. Nigel knows he'll be gone by Xmas and as we ****ed him over the first time round as well, it's a stitch up job from him! Winky He's been ok for us don't get me wrong but not set any fires out or been amazing - Many were cup goals. Like I said if he's not going to do it for us, what the point in having him here, if he does it somewhere else, good luck to him but if he's not doing it here for whatever reason why have him? Like Matt Mills, he did great at Reading (From what I seen), he was awful here, no doubt he'll do well at Bolton, it'd just be our luck, but if he wasn't doing it here he may aswell go, which he has.

Same could be said for the likes of Wellens, Gallagher and Dyer yet we don't get rid of them and they have been culpable for poor performances throughout the past 2 seasons.

Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 This has nothing to do with Wellens, Gallagher or Dyer. Yes it absolutely has because we are stuck with mediocre players who are worse in quality than Beckford in their respectful positions.!!!

Wellens - I have no arguement for, I agree with you. As for Gallagher and Dyer; Gallagher - I had no problem with until last season, but you forget about the back injury he had, which if you have ever suffered with back problems it does effect performance ALOT, which point the finger at Pearson for continuing to play a injured player. Dyer - Personally not had a problem with, if anything it was my main arguement against Sven, IMO we were crying out for Dyer, or someone like him, I think if Sven played Dyer more it could have saved his job.
Mark_w Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Yes it absolutely has because we are stuck with mediocre players who are worse in quality than Beckford in their respectful positions.!!! But also almost certainly don't cost us £30,000 a week. We have to prioritise.
MGLCFC Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 I hope Beckford goes to West Ham or Reading if he does indeed leave - at least he will be scoring in a different league and then I won't be too bothered. Personally, I'd have give him a chance this season.

I just feel that we are getting rid of a striker who could make the difference between promotion or not with the right service from the midfield!, unless we have an equally good replacement i.e 15 goal a season + than their is no point getting rid of Beckford imo.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Big call from Nige if true. If he does not get anyone else in and we get off to a bad start I think he may be gone early. The same twats slagging down JB at games will turn their attention to him moaning about how we have let our greatest ever striker go.
Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 But also almost certainly don't cost us £30,000 a week. We have to prioritise. Do you know the financial accounts? Or whether we are sorting/sorted ourselves out with FFP? No you don't...

An equally good replacement would score 9 league goals for us next season. I want a better replacement, on lower wages. And I don't think that is unrealistic.

To put Beckfords league return in perspective Fryatt scored 16 last year. There is better value out there. And I'm not saying I want him back.
foxfanazer Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Could see Rhodes costing at least 3 times what we get for Beckford. Would like us to keep him tbh

I really bloody hope so, I don't want Beckford to get promotion with another club at our expense but you know it is going to happen as far as LCFC is concerned.
Bilbo Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Jesus some people on here are a joke, try supporting one of our players for once. The guy scored 9 league goals in a poor mid-table team in his FIRST season with us, not the best season but what player hasn't had a mediocre season before, it doesn't mean we should ship them out immediately, it's exactly this sort of merry-go-round bulls*** of mangers and players that means we've been in limbo for so long. He obviously has talent but hasn't being utilised properly. To all those people who keep bringing up Beckford's apparent "attitude" I've met him on a couple of occasions and the guy is a true gent and this has been backed up by many others who have come into contact with him.
smudger63 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Two members of Manchester United's academy (One who their fans were likening to Scholes before he picked up injuries), a defender on a free who Premier League Norwich fans felt was their best CB, and expected to go to Villa. A striker who scored over 30 goals in the BSP and was attracting interest from our competition, and a target man to replace Howard who from what we've seen so far looks a lot more confident with the ball at his feet than Steve did. It's terrible, and all for £3,000,000 as well... We'd have never wasted money like that last year. Or of course, you could put it like this. We`ve signed two man utd academy rejects, one who Norwich fans said was rubbish, and one who has very little football league experience, and so has to be looked on as a gamble. A decent centre back from Norwich, but who unfortunately is injury prone, and we`ll be lucky to get twenty games a season out of. A striker from non league, who again, has no experience at football league level, and again has to be seen as a gamble, and a target man from Portsmouth, where he couldn`t get into a relegated team. Depends whether your glass is half empty or half full i suppose.

Sharpe outscored beckfords total by Christmas in a team eventually relegated. Us being midtable or not creating chances are poor excuses.
Bilbo Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 nauseating pontification If you're directing that at me mate thanks for the valid contribution to the forum.

Fair point but it's one season, getting rid of a player just because he has under performed is a shocking way to manage a team.
