MGLCFC Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Who's next to go - Konchesky, Schmeichel and Nugent - then all of the previous regime will have gone (except Danns)
LCFC BEAST Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Or he was saying that he'd take Beckford back and couldn't believe we were getting rid of him Pearson wouldn't get rid of someone with Beckford's ability without a formidable replacement
marty78 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Didn't do enough to suggest he should be on three times as much as our other strikers, if he does well for another club then so be it, we need to focus on what's important and judge Nigel on how well Leicester do, not how well any other club does. If this is true then financially this is a good move for the club, we shouldn't be risking the clubs future and financial position on an average championship striker, we've got at least two of those already, probably more, willing to play for a lot less money. Beckfords on x3 what Nugent makes? How well Nigel does will include the result of his decision to sell Beckford, if it is his decision. A good season and it will soon be forgotten but a poor start and Beckford scoring elsewhere? Disappointed but will reserve judgement until we see the eventual outcome. If we can't afford to keep him or can get a handsome transfer fee then fair play I suppose but then we probably shouldn't be too expectant about any replacement, if we get one. If we are risking the clubs future with Becks' wages then we should probably not spend too much of it elsewhere.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Jason Bourne â€@JasonBourne1986 I'll play what Pearson said about Beckford, St Ledger, Whitbread and Pernis after 6.30pm this evening on the Football Forum 104.9 FM#LCFC
Ashley Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 I respect Fourth Official but this time I really hope he is wrong. All you Beckford haters have a celebratory wank tonight x
FrankieADZ Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 think Beckford on his day is probably the best striker at the club, but I'm sure his attitude at times isnt what NP quite desires within the squad.also think NP would certainly have a replacement in mind aswell If he goes I'll certainly wish him the best and certainly won't boo him if he came back to the KP with a new team....probably swear a bit if he scores mind
Sods Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Jason Bourne â€@JasonBourne1986 I'll play what Pearson said about Beckford, St Ledger, Whitbread and Pernis after 6.30pm this evening on the Football Forum 104.9 FM#LCFC Think that will be him saying he will play on Wednesday as well as St Ledger.
wattolcfc Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Odds slashed on a return for Heskey... http://www.bettingpro.com/category/Football/Emile-Heskey-set-for-emotional-Leicester-return-201207300072/
foxesfan1989 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Jason Bourne â€@JasonBourne1986 I'll play what Pearson said about Beckford, St Ledger, Whitbread and Pernis after 6.30pm this evening on the Football Forum 104.9 FM#LCFC Also went on to quote Pearson..."he'll [beckford] certainly be playing against Burton"
Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 His Replacement has to be Rhodes otherwise I won't be to pleased we will see I guess please don't be Heskey though.
MGLCFC Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Can't think the Pearson interview will be anything different to what was said by Pearson after the Shrewsbury defeat on sat evening. Basically, Whitbread not ready yet, SSL warmed up with the others, Beckford ill, but will play wednesday and Pernis not offered a contract.
m00nie Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 nugent waghorn vardy futacs schulpp.. can see NP not even bother replacing JB if he goes.. needs to be a great replacement if he does get rid but just cant see it..
MGLCFC Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Nugent - decent, but not prolific Vardy, potential, but unknown Futacs - Plan B, but not a goal scorer Schlupp - needs to go on loan Waghorn - not good enough IMO Rhodes would be excellent
Mark Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 nugent waghorn vardy futacs schulpp.. Those 3 are nowhere near good enough, remains to be seen whether Vardy can make the step up but we need to score 65+ goals to get promoted and I can't see those 5 getting even half of them.
Corky Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 nugent waghorn vardy futacs schulpp.. can see NP not even bother replacing JB if he goes.. needs to be a great replacement if he does get rid but just cant see it.. Vardy hasn't been played as a central striker at Fleetwood (I believe) and we don't know what's happening with Schlupp, so yes, a replacement is definitely required.
kingfox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 nugent waghorn vardy futacs schulpp.. can see NP not even bother replacing JB if he goes.. needs to be a great replacement if he does get rid but just cant see it.. It would be stupid if he didn't get in a replacement, he would be as deluded as Steve Kean is with tactics. Gutted Beckford is going, because I thought he would have way more to give from this season and would score us goals, but it is also understandable aswell, because of wages and his form last season. Pearson obviously wants to bring in his own players, like he did with Hull, young hungry players instead of players with big ego's and are way overpriced, pr in there late 20's early 30's. Beckford will be 29 at the end of the year, but with the strikers Pearson has brought in, he has taken a chance on Vardy who has been the best player in non league football over the past couple of seasons, and Futacs a young and hungry player who will give us a great option when coming up against the more physical sides of the Championship. I would be surprised if Pearson brought in a old striker like Owen, when Owen stated he wouldn't drop down in the Championship. It is understandable that we might be trying to get Heskey back, but if we did bring him back he wouldn't score many goals at all, he will be brought just to make fans happy and to finish off at the club where he made his name. Beckford needs replaced and the only player worthy of replacing him, is a young hungry player who has history of scoring goals in the past couple of seasons, i.e Jordan Rhodes who of course is only 22.
Mark_w Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 risking the clubs future??? i no you have a love fest for NP but think your going too far to try and defend him.. We are in a serious amount of debt, if we don't go up relatively soon, or heaven forbid in the future we end up going down, with these contracts still in place the club will be ****ed. Things change and we can't be a 100% sure that the owners are going to remain committed so we need to live within our means. Unless Beckford guarantees promotion (Last year proved he didn't, and a couple of seasons in League One he didn't for Leeds) then he shouldn't be on £30,000 a week in the Championship. He did no better than many of our strikers who cost a fraction of the amount. It's nothing to do with NP it is to do with the future of the club, if Beckford had been willing to take a reasonable wage cut then I'd have been happy for him to stay, I know he has no reason to accept one, and that's why I think it's best we make as much of the money back as we can.
CosbehFox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Personally don't think its anything personally. The wage bill must be cut and Beckford is an easy target in that respect. Potential to be brilliant but never quite cut for us.
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Beckford will not leave lcfc this summer I really hope he don't anyway
