LCFC BEAST Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 He's just made the Euro 2012 squad and was wondering if he has a good championship and clubs come in for him, will Pearson sell? Would just increase the doubt over the defence surely seeing Pearson rating him since his 'spat' earlier in the season. Thoughts?
Webbo Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 I reckon Pearson would listen to offers for any of the players. If the money was right I'm sure we'd take it.

LCFC BEAST Posted 7 May 2012 Author Posted 7 May 2012 But would we find a defender as good as him with the money we'd potentially get from him?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 IMO, Our best defender. In NFP's opinion, I think he'd let him go if someone came in for him.
Raw Dykes Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 I don't think it was a spat. St. Ledger wanted first team football, but NP couldn't guarantee it and transfer listed him so he could get first team football elsewhere. If it really was a spat, despite NP saying in an interview that it wasn't, then it can't have been serious, or lasted very long since St. Ledger was a first team regular soon afterwards. I'm not sure if he'll stay or not. St. Ledger might well have only wanted guaranteed first team football to have a better chance of playing in the Euros, and next season, he might not think playing for Ireland is as important as it was last season, with no major tournament for two years. He might be happier to be more of a squad player. I won't be surprised if he's replaced, and I won't be surprised if he stays.
RyanB89 Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Seems likely that mills and another defender will be going judging by the amount of defenders weve been linked with and i would rather it was st ledger than bamba
Albert Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Seems likely that mills and another defender will be going judging by the amount of defenders weve been linked with and i would rather it was st ledger than bamba Bamba will be gone....couple of clubs have already been in for him
Fox92 Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Best defender at the club in my opinion. Glad he has made Euro 2012, although the manager did have trouble reading the names out! Wouldn't want him to leave the club.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Not good enough for our first 11 (apparently) but good enough for the Euros. Crazy
flowwolf Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 hopefully He won't leave He will and NP is not happy with him.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Not good enough for our first 11 (apparently) but good enough for the Euros. Crazy On that basis Zsolt Laczo was good enough for our team.
Raw Dykes Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 It might be the case that we can't afford to keep him. I don't know what his wages are, but they might be too high. He might well be bad value for money compared to other players we could buy. We might be able to get a better player who costs less.
flowwolf Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 In my opinion he has had as many bad games as good and is an average championship player at best. Good enough for our level but not good enough for the prem.
Dan Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Don't agree for one second he's our best defender, no chance. He's not bad but I don't know, there's something that isn't re-assuring about him. Very happy for him to make the Euros though. Good luck though, he'll be up against Spain
Happy Fox Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Our defense shouldn't be about who is the best defender etc it should be about them working as a unit, St Ledger and Morgan have generally been solid as a partnership with Mills impending departure we will need a CB to provide competition, I am unsure whether Bamba will still be here if we loose 3 CBs this summer it will seriously feck up our chances of continuity in the centre of the defense.
kingfox Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 If he goes then it will be one hell of a mistake. Fantastic defender on his day, and certainly our best in my opinion, absolutely love the guy. Think St Ledger and Morgan is good enough, with maybe Chester coming in as another option. With Bamba and Mills maybe leaving would be the best sitution possible.
danfox76 Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 I wish he'd give it a rest. he'll get what hes given and be thankful, if not he's at the wrong club. its sickening the amount of players that come out at this time of year and big em selves up, then once the season starts its like they suddenly don't care. in reality if they did the job on the pitch when it mattered, first team football would not be a problem.
J.Lisemore Posted 8 May 2012 Posted 8 May 2012 Played very well up to the Euro's, whether he'll play as well after the Euro's...remains to be seen.
ozleicester Posted 8 May 2012 Posted 8 May 2012 Jeebus, what is it about selling without thought? All this talk about getting high cost players off the books, FFS without quality players, we are not going to challenge for promotion. I know NP is recognaised for finding reasonable players in the lower leagues, but lets face it, if we have a side made up of fair championship players and up and coming non leaguers, then our chances of promotion must be looking pretty shaky. Lets take a bit of logic here, Dont sell players until you have a BETTER replacement in the squad. Same applies to Managers. When did we become a "struggling" club again?
foxes2011 Posted 8 May 2012 Posted 8 May 2012 His values double because of the fact hes made the Ireland team if a team offers 3 mill or more snap there hand of , need to make sure we replace players though.
