Tielemans63 Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Can't set up a poll as I'm on my phone (can someone do it for me?) but who would you take? I'll be honest, I'd go Rio. I can't stand John Terry and I get the feeling that most of the England players think he's a twat too. Terry is prob marginally the better player but is it worth taking such a divisive figure? I don't think so.
sdb Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Rio's losing it, Terry is a cock and I think the harmony in the squad without him would outweigh the good he brings. So probably neither. Cahill, Lescott are of similar standard now.
AjcW Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither! Did anyone see terry last night? Probably the most hilarious centre back performance of the season!!
Tielemans63 Posted 9 May 2012 Author Posted 9 May 2012 I'd say neither but we're a bit short of international class CB's. I've always liked Phil Jagielka though - he could do a job.
MikeyT Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither thanks. Rio not a shade of what he was and Terry I detest and agree with what sdb said.
ousefox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Terry is a massive twat, but he is a solid player. Best CB we have in his prime albeit nearing the end of it, just as long as he doesn't do what he did in Barca. Ferdinand is not good enough
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Presumably we will take 4 cbs to the Championships, yeah? Are there 4 cbs from England better in terms of everything than these two? Not saying there is or isn't, just be interested in who you'd all take if you took neither of them. It's one thing saying "No past it, cúnt, always injured, too old, bad influence" etc, it's another naming 4 cbs that are better than them that the country will be happy with taking to the Euros.
Jimothy Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither. Take Lescott, Cahill Jagielka, and Richards as centre backs. I know Richards hasn't played centre back much but he can go as cover for both that position and right back.
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Lescott, Cahill and Jagielka is a horrendously weak set of centre backs if we are actually trying to get anywhere in this tournament, in my opinion. I think the whole squad is so hard to call for the first time since I can remember. The centre backs especially, and even the whole back four really, have picked themselves without a question for the past 10 years or more. Now I reckon, bar Hart, Cole and Rooney (once fit), every position is genuinely questionable. Will be very interesting to see who Hodgson picks.
Kitchandro Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 I wouldn't play either of them, both a couple of tossers IMO and past their best quite a while ago. What's happened to Jones?
One Arm Babba Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither.... But I bet we take both. Hodgson has a great opportunity to shake up the england squad but I bet there are no surprises. For the record i'd also leave Gerarrd at home. Who do we take as strikers is more interesting. Rooney, Holt, Welbeck(if fit) and Walcott for me.

leicesterisme Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither, I'd take Jones, Smalling, Lescott and Cahill.
goose2010 Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Neither if they get in the squad they will expect to play, rh should use this tornement to give some of the in experienced players some game time, lescott and Cahill for me there te future really.
Tielemans63 Posted 9 May 2012 Author Posted 9 May 2012 Neither, I'd take Jones, Smalling, Lescott and Cahill. I'd take Jones as well but not Smalling - I think he's possibly the most overrated footballer in the country, way short of international class IMHO.

I was going to say the same - I think he's got nothing to lose taking a young and untested squad. I realy hope he doesn't rely on the same old underachievers who will inevitably let us down but I bet he does.
