Would be great to have another drama about The Duke of Norfolk and his family

One of the great survivors, both him and his family over the centuries. Still the Dukes of Norfolk and Earl Marshall. A Howard still basically owns Castle Rising a short bike ride away from my home, and apparently in that village you can't hang washing outside because he doesn't like it.

Fascinating family. Just a quick look at the life of the 2nd Duke. Served Edward the Fourth, Richard the Third and managed to then survive Bosworth on the losing side to then serve both Henry the Seventh and his son and won at Flodden against the Scots

Yes and later one of them tried to marry Mary Queen of Scots and shortly after another (his cousin?) commanded the English forces against the Armada. They're constantly popping up throughout history like Blackadder or something.

Very interesting and a little confusing when the same surname pops up and you realise it's a different member of the same family

Can confirm that big Steve Howard is no relation

One Hundred Years of Solitude, the first book I read in Spanish, is on Netflix. No idea what it's like but, as soon as I'm off the meds I got this morning, I'm sitting down with a bottle of wine and devouring the eight episodes.

Does anyone else find all the hype around Gavin and Stacey a bit grating.....my Mrs loves it,but don't find it in the least funny myself.

Started Black Doves, high hopes given it’s the writer of Giri/Haji which was bloody superb

It’s pissed me off in the end. Completely loses it about half way through the fourth episode

I’ve always found it a divisive show. I’ve never quite known whether it was cool to love it or cool to hate it.

I found it dull when it was new and I continue to find it dull now. It is however one of those generic beige dramas (it's not a comedy as it isn't remotely funny) that has broad appeal and therefore sizeable popularity.

It’s as entertaining as a prolapsed anus.

Shrinking... really enjoy the show, the characters have ups and downs but it's one of them that generally leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling as thinks work out.

Personally think Gavin & Stacey is class but everyone likes different things I guess, for instance there's some people that think Mrs Browns Boys and Only Fools & Horses are funny lmao funny old world

Not sure if this is satire but OFAH is a british comedy gem as is David Jason.

I’d rather have root canal treatment than watch an episode of Mrs Browns Boys.
