Watched the Celebrity Gladiators last night and now have the theme tune stuck in my head. Which is no bad thing as it's awesome!

I think the reboot has been a triumph for the most part. Mark Clattenburg trying to channel John Anderson and Viper being poundshop Wolf are a bit cringy, but they've kept most of the stuff that made it good, too, it's made for good Saturday TV and I'm looking forward to the next series.

I've enjoyed the reboot. Not sure if it's intentional but some of the gladiators are rubbish. One of the girls looked shit scared on the duel lol and that Viper has been awful every time he's been on.

Even in the original a lot of the Gladiators were rubbish. The makers/producers obviously think fitness models make for good athletes. They rarely do.

Legend is great entertainment.

I don’t think you necessarily want them to be great athletes. You just want them to look like it.

There's NOTHING good about Saturday night family entertainment shows right now.

The Masked Singer, as an example.

Mainstream pleb TV is so cringe these days.

Looking forward to season 2.  The original theme tune is great and bringing back the hamster wheels for the new season is a great idea.

They still haven't quite replicated the intensity of the originals though.  Duel with Shadow for example cannot be replicated by anyone, that guy was a machine.  Also they don't add in that background music while the round is on which adds to it.

Thought the celebrity special was a damp squib.  They clearly tuned it down for the contestants and the gladiators weren't anywhere near top level.

Did you try Animal Kingdom

Never heard of this but watched the first two episodes on Netflix Canada last night (good old VPN)

Looks pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just gorged the new Harlan Coben on Netflix which is so good I can't even remember the name of it. I mean it's channel 5 stuff with  a glossy all star cast, enjoyable but daft and probably the stupidest villain ever seen on screen played by Steve Pemberton.

Severance on AppleTV fantastic show. Series 2 is out in a few weeks so if anyone wants something new to watch I’d recommend highly.

I have seen people say it’s a bit of a slow burn, i personally didn’t think it was at all but only 9 episodes so easy to binge.

Severance is world class

Probably the best things I’ve watched over the last few years.

Genuinely in my top 5 shows I’ve ever seen. I love stuff like that. I love the weirdness of it. Hoping series 2 stays at the same level

Finished black doves which started well and then got very stupid I thought.

Now finishing The Day Of The Jackal which is much better.

I watched the first few episodes of black doves but when I realised the”trigger man” was Paddington bear-

i couldn’t stop seeing him whenever he spoke!

Not seen Day Of The Jackal. The original film with Edward Fox was so brilliant. This new series has a big following and some love it but I have heard others think it is daft

It was a bit far fetched but I think the quality of it kept it grounded to me, I often find that if something is well written and entertaining then if it’s a bit far fetched it doesn’t matter, at least it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment.

Yep, thought the same some of it was very silly at times.
