Soar Fox Posted 23 June 2012 Posted 23 June 2012 After just watching Spain V France I won't be cancelling any plans to watch this game.
Super_horns Posted 23 June 2012 Posted 23 June 2012 So who will dive the most or pass the ball most without creating much?
ScouseFox Posted 23 June 2012 Posted 23 June 2012 Come on Ronnie. Show them how to play real football.
Jaspa Posted 23 June 2012 Posted 23 June 2012 I was in Portugal when Spain won the World Cup, and there where more Spain fans about than Portuguese, they literally flock across the boarder to take the pish Portugal seem to have knocked up a couple of gears since the start, and CR7 seems to think he has his claws out now. You would have to be a fool to underestimate Spain tho Very very hard game to call, still hope its a gud'un
Tielemans63 Posted 23 June 2012 Posted 23 June 2012 I'll be supporting the Portuguese too. Don't like to see any team dominate any competition.
Finnegan Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Hope Spain keep Pedro and Torres in the side and play a proper game. Also hope they win. I'd rather not see them win the competition but I loathe Ronaldo and all his childish posturing, he's undeniably a fantastic footballer in terms of technical ability and physical athleticism but he's such a woeful one when it comes to what's inside his head. Even Rooney's matured more than he has. Petulant, lazy and juvenile.
Ian W LCFC Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 If Spain play without a striker again, I think I will watch it in bed instead of the sofa! Portugal really need to exploit the weakness in Spains defence, by playing the ball out to Nani and Ronaldo and just telling them to run at the defence and shoot. Hopefully if Portugal score the 1st goal it will force Spain to do something different than playing keep ball for 90 mins!
shen Posted 25 June 2012 Posted 25 June 2012 I know it's become trendy to hate on Spain for their possession football, mainly becomes they're dominating on the international scene and even the club scene (yes, I know neither Real or Barcelona didnt make the final, but they're still the most dominating teams atm). But you really have to applaud the way they go about things. Playing that kind of possession football looks so easy but requires so much tactical awareness and technical ability. It's so incredibly hard to defend against and forces the tactical hand of nearly every team out there: To get a result against Spain you must stay really compact and hope to hit them on the counter. And here's where I think the Spaniards have become really good, because apart from the counter, they look really strong defensively and constantly press the opposition. I never tire of watching beautiful cross field passes, quick intricate passing or clever movement off the ball of which there is typically a lot when Spain play. Yes, it looks lethargic on the face of it and I don't think it'd hurt the entertainment much if they start with Torres/Llorente upfront instead of six midfielders, but at least there will be the odd moment of captivating quality that very few others can produce. And in this game both teams will show plenty of it! Hopefully, being a rivalry, there will be a bit of temper and full-blooded tackles thrown into the mix
ScouseFox Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Spain start a striker. But not Torres. Or Llorente. Negrado starts. Come on Portugal.
Fox92 Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Hope Portugal win, they are my 'second country' once England are out. Been on holiday about 14 times, used to love it there. Even met Rui Costa on the beach once. Tough, but should be a good game.

Hopefully, being a rivalry, there will be a bit of temper and full-blooded tackles thrown into the mix Completely agree I love watching the Spanish play I think it is the beautiful game and it forces teams to do something other than park the bus, you have to earn the ball off them, and you better make sure you use it well, otherwise you may not see it for another 10 minutes. When they don't play with a striker, they play with Fabregas, Silva, Iniesta and Xavi, there is more attacking talent there than in any other team, compare that to Rooney, Carroll, Welbeck and Young, Englands "attacking" options. Against Croatia they looked poor with Torres up front because he is not a typical Spanish player like Villa, and when he got the ball he tended to turn, run and give away possession, the goal they scored was beautifully crafted in that game, and was done so without a "striker". looking forward to this, lets hope there is no play acting from Busquets, the worse thing about watching Spain. I have been impressed by the Portugeeks though, especially Moutinho and Concentrao, Nani needs to step up out of Ronaldo's shadow and Meireles needs to fvck off, can't stand him. Ronaldo though is just something else, I wish he wasn't such a bell end though, it makes it so much harder to appreciate his skill.
Raj Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Good job England didn't make the semis...imagine Stevie G reading something before the game??? !!!! P.S Bloody stupid that tho...
Jaspa Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Portugal look up for this already ! If Spain put in a performance like the Ireland or France game, they could be out
ScouseFox Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Portugal are on top despite the ref's best attempts. Looking like they really want to win this, and really can win this. Del Bosque couldn't have got it any more wrong by playing Negrado (so far). He's touched it about twice and lost it both times.
ScouseFox Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Oh and Sergio Ramos is so, so shit. And a full on cúnt.
Captain... Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 I don't think Negredo will be on much longer, Portugal have taken it to Spain, but will they tire and start leaving gaps in the second half? Spain need a change I would bring on Fabregas for Negredo, get them moving around creating space and pulling the defence all over the place, then Torres on later on if they need a goal.
BlueSi13 Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Come on Portugal! Do it for the beautiful game, the Spanish have bored us to tears for long enough now!
MooseBreath Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Portugal having a good go here. I think Germany would be fairly comfortable winners against Spain on current form, but I'm desperate for Portugal to win so all the tika raja nuthuggers can go away
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Whomever still claims that Spain are playing an intriguing, tactical masterful type of football in a "clever 4-6-0"... Fück off. Nothing bores me more than backpasses and sideways passes on a steady basis, before finally managing to create something upfront (following felt 64+ passes, after which the majority in the audience will have sunken into a deep slumber). And how interesting are constant ball possession stats in the 65% range?? And where the fück are the Spanish strikers, eh? Please, Portugal. Bring this terrible idea of "entertaining" the masses to an end. I can't take it no more. Spain are unbearable to watch. To me.
acooling08 Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Agreed Prussian. The main commentator pisses me right off. A 'fascinating' half of football according to him, what is he watching??
