Matt Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Well after years of struggling to pick a list of who should win it, we have quite a few candidates, Bradley Wiggins, Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, Chris Hoy... Thought before the Olympics Bradley Wiggins would win it, I still think he'll win it, only just though.
kingfox Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 A lot to choose from. But after tonight if Mo Farah doesn't win it, they might aswell scrap it the guy is respectable and a total legend. If Farah and Ennis don't get top two I will be shocked, Wiggins has done incredible things but he is such a smug person don't like him at all, but maybe that's just me. Andy Murray of all people, will be in with a shout aswell, a gold and silver medal and the final of Wimbledon.
leicesterisme Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Yeah Wiggins is still odds on at the minute, hope Wiggins does get it.
Charl91 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 This is the most difficult one yet. I honestly couldn't call it, so many great possible choices
Guest Bilo Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Best year ever for British sport to be honest. In any other year; Jess Ennis, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Hoy, Andy Murray or Mo Farah would absolutely walk it.
Benji Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 How can it not be Wiggins? Within the space of a month he: - became the first British man to win the TdF yellow jersey - took unneccessary chances to ensure his teammates won individual stages (Cavendish into Paris) - went far beyond the call of duty to help Cavendish win the road race gold even when experts expected him to drop out after an hour - then a few days later wins the time trial gold with ease Andy Murray - hasn't won a Grand Slam, the pinnacle of Tennis players' careers. Jess Ennis - an amazing Gold won by some distance and in some style, under a great deal of pressure, but no more worthy than any of the other athletes that have contributed Golds to Team GB so far, especially not Mo. Chris Hoy - again amazing achievements but unfair to single him out from the other tack cyclists, especially Jason Kenny. Mo would be a very worthy winner though if he got it.
Amin Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 I really hope Wiggins gets it, he more than deserves it. It's going to be tight whoever wins it.
linemakers Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Team award to the whole G B Olympic team then First Wiggons second Jess Ennis
Phube Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 My problem is I hate cyclists, they're all knobs (I'm talking being a car driver and pedestrian). Therefore Mo to win!
Webbo Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Before the Olympics and straight after his gold medal Wiggins was a nailed on certainty. Now, who knows?
AKCJ Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Wiggins will take it with Jess Ennis and Mo Farah coming close.
Fox in the North Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Wiggins knighted then sports personality, for me, the magnitude of his achievements are greater than mo's but I wouldn't be upset if mo won. Hed deserve it any other year.
Guesty Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 It has to be Wiggins. Tour de France win, then Olymipcs just after winning his fourth gold medal. Farah should be a close second though. It's a shame you get years like this with a few people who really deserve it then a year when some one like Giggs wins it. Not saying he hasn't had a great career, but he didn't do anything special the year he won it.
acooling08 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Victoria Pendleton, because she's fvcking tasty.
Charl91 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Almost tempted to say Laura Trott, for the most entertaining cyclist event I have ever seen.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 List of the 10 nominees as I see it so far: Bradley Wiggins Mo Farah Chris Hoy Jessica Ennis Andy Murray Ben Ainslie Jason Kenny Victoria Pendleton Laura Trott Rory McIlroy - If he wins the PGA (leading right now) - if not Luke Donald Young Sports Personality will surely be Jade Johnson and Overseas has to be Usain Bolt! I have a sneaky feeling that the Lifetime Achievement might go to Nick Skelton.
foxfanazer Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Gotta be Wiggins for me. Tour De France and Olympic gold really is some achievement
Guest Bilo Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 I fancy Chris Hoy to take the Lifetime Achievement award myself.
