Matt Posted 9 September 2012 Author Posted 9 September 2012 Their here, There there, Their every-fucking-where, Empty seats, empty seats... Just watching Cov v Stevenage on Sky, Currently 1-1. Not many there, apparently seats were dramatically reduced and it was kids for a quid for todays game aswell and they still can't get 10k (I'd be very surprised if there is 10k there, if 5k were there i'd be surprised tbh.)
Corky Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Surely it's time to put them all in one stand and save on stewards and turnstile operators around the ground?
RonnieTodger Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Surely it's time to put them all in one stand and save on stewards and turnstile operators around the ground? My thoughts exactly. It'd also be less of an eyesore, but they'd have had to have done it at the start of the season so they don't have to move tickets round. I think two stands would work.
Matt Posted 9 September 2012 Author Posted 9 September 2012 I was always under the impression they had a season ticket holders stand anyway and the rest just bought tickets on a game to game basis. I did find this strange that you couldn't buy a season ticket anywhere you wanted but when that prick before the games comes out and welcomes you and introduces you to each stand while an elephant seems to have some kind of fit, he says this is such and such a stand, this is another stand, this is the season ticket holders stand, blah, blah, blah. Maybe i'm wrong and like I said I always found it strange you couldn't buy a season ticket anywhere in the stadium but if that is the case that season ticket holders are in one stand surely they could close the rest of the stadium and anyone buying a ticket on a game to game basis would have to buy tickets in that stand.
Matt Posted 9 September 2012 Author Posted 9 September 2012 9,400 odd. Better than I thought it was going to be. Think they are telling porkies there.
BlueSi13 Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for them. Must be a horrible experience being a hardcore fan of theirs. That feeling certainly doesn't do much to stir a rivalry for me personally.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Aye, a rivalry isn't about pity and pity is about the only emotion Coventry are capable of invoking at the moment. I like the suggestion made earlier on the thread regarding the club only opening one or two stands, it would make sense on so many levels with their attendances being the way they are. They'd save money on stewards, turnstile operators, cleaning and perhaps most importantly, rent.
Corky Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I feel for the genuine hardcore supporters who were there today, it must be so depressing to see your club offer so little for encouragement. But I don't like the club so it's mixed.
RonnieTodger Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I hope they suffer in League One for the time being and come back up eventually. Right now, the fans are getting what they deserved after we got relegated.
Corky Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Early days, but cov lie 20th in the table. They go to an in-form Tranmere side next week.
Guest nathan. Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 As much as i dislike Cov i don't want them to fold. Watching your club slowly die must be heartbreaking poor buggers.
Kitchandro Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Better than I thought it was going to be. Think they are telling porkies there. There is no way there was 9,000 there. I don't believe there was any more than 6,000. They should compromise and be shut out of 3 stands - it would be better for everyone. They're going to be relegated at this rate. Maybe they should just start again and move into a smaller ground.

Joking aside, that's worked wonders for Juve. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and admit you're overreaching yourselves. Coventry are certainly doing that with that ground. A 20,000 capacity stadium would be more than sufficient for Coventry for the foreseeable future, but with no money to do that they're stuck in a rut. The Ricoh has pretty much killed that club.
Corky Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Darlington have done it, their ground was too big and moved away, Coventry should consider doing the same, especially with the rent costs so high.
AyewJoking Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I suggest a ground share with Peterborough.
lavrentis Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I hope they suffer in League One for the time being and come back up eventually. Kettering only open 2 sides of Nene Park too - it sounds like the writing is on the wall for both clubs.

Lesson One in how to undermine your own argument. I've haven't liked them since that escapade and didn't realise they were "rivals" until then. I know a lot of Coventry fans and got a lot of grief so it's nice to see them suffer a fair bit. "Ahh diddums" would suggest I'm very bitter, when in actual fact I said that I hope they come back eventually. Don't be silly.
