Apart from being the first competitive match, theres no difference whatsoever. Still no excuses for losing against Burton. Not all that bothered, we weren't gonna win the cup.

reynard Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Some of those weren't even on the bench for our first 3 league games. Waghorn and Gallagher won't play much of a part, Danns was playing superbly in the last few months of the season, SSL is a decent squad player. Futacs has just scored, Beckford hasn't played, Nugent was on the bench. Maybe it's good enough, maybe it isn't. But people are acting like we've got a first team out, some of them aren't even second team. I know where you are coming from but I'm basing my opinion on more than this season. We have some players who just are not good enough. Maybe they can improve but I'm not convinced they can. It is a squad game these days and if you've got confidence and belief in some of these players being able to step up then great I'm afraid I don't.

onecapwonder Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I have made my feelings on the cup(s) perfectly clear before: - Whilst we are in the Championship, they are pointless. We have 0% if winning, so let's just get out asap. Cups aren't what they used to be, teams like us have no chance against the upper Prem sides; No matter how much kool aid you drink losing 2-4 to a team 2 leagues below you is crap. We don't have a youth team to put out to claim we didn't try (unlike Arsenal or MUFC when they lose to a botttom of the table EPL side) any mixture of 1st team subs, players and youth members should beat a League 2 side. When we lose 2-4 oto Burton it won't be because our 18 year olds aren't experienced enough, De Leat, Konch, and SSL are 3/4 of our presumed starting back four!!

Guest shearfox Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Sure you expect us to not lose but we have players in there who haven't played together and are certainly not match sharp. Too many changes I feel and we have paid the price, at least our players will be rested for Blackpool on Saturday.
