Burton Match Thread

It's the manner of the defeat and the fact we're soft. We were too soft at Charlton when we gifted them a 2 nil lead. Until we are ruthless we'll do absolutely nothing. We're as bad as we were when Pearson came back, he's had nearly a year and we're still horribly inconsistent. Our away form is diabolical as well for as long as I can remember.

He needs to sort it fast, I'm not confident he can do but it would be rash to sack him after tonight. Another 2-3 league games minimum.

Whichever way you look at it, we are a championship team being humbled by a team two leagues below us.

I usually manage to look on the bright side, but there are no positives to be taken from this debacle.

My biggest concern is that this may affect the confidence of the squad.

I've always been a big fan of NP but I must confess I can't help but reach the conclusion that he is tactically inept.

Some of those weren't even on the bench for our first 3 league games. Waghorn and Gallagher won't play much of a part, Danns was playing superbly in the last few months of the season, SSL is a decent squad player.

Futacs has just scored, Beckford hasn't played, Nugent was on the bench.

Maybe it's good enough, maybe it isn't. But people are acting like we've got a first team out, some of them aren't even second team.

who aint second team? this is a squad most players could and will be needed during the season!

Doubt it, applied before the owners didn't know him.

Yeh and?

It's one game, it doesn't prove we're not good enough. It proves we've been poor on the night. Do you seriously think we'd lose to these 8, even 3 times out of 10?

If you're trying to prove a point this really isn't the game to prove it with.

its 4 games in and its been a shambles.... im just laughing now tbh, were just a laughing stock

I know where you are coming from but I'm basing my opinion on more than this season. We have some players who just are not good enough. Maybe they can improve but I'm not convinced they can.

It is a squad game these days and if you've got confidence and belief in some of these players being able to step up then great I'm afraid I don't.

Understood, and agreed, I think some of the players aren't good enough. But that doesn't mean those players will play a significant part.

Maybe Pearson doesn't think they're good enough (and that's probably true for a few of them as he thinks they're only fit to play in the cup against Burton).

4-2 at home to Burton Albion is an embarrassment.

A 1-0 defeat could have been passed off due to lack of firepower, but 4 goals conceded when three of our back four are first choices is nothing short of worrying.

Lose on Saturday and Pearson will be sweating on his future.

It's only one match, we've been crap, but come on we've been playing pretty well recently. It's not the end of the world, certainly we can't be sacking managers based on one cup game a couple of weeks into the season when we played our second eleven. You're all so fickle, call for stability, but one embarassing loss and we have to chop and change once again, I'm ****ing tired of it, give the man who has done well here previously a chance, it's not like we were going to win the thing.

No matter how much kool aid you drink losing 2-4 to a team 2 leagues below you is crap. We don't have a youth team to put out to claim we didn't try (unlike Arsenal or MUFC when they lose to a botttom of the table EPL side) any mixture of 1st team subs, players and youth members should beat a League 2 side. When we lose 2-4 oto Burton it won't be because our 18 year olds aren't experienced enough, De Leat, Konch, and SSL are 3/4 of our presumed starting back four!!

I really hope SSL, isn't to be honest. Never been a big fan, and I'm pretty sure he was playing most of the games when we shipped a lot of goals last season.
